I called M&J for a quote based on the reviews I had seen on Angie's List. I talked to Jason, one of the owners, and he scheduled an appointment within several days and showed up on-time. I explained I was looking to replace my roof and after about 5 - 10 minutes of looking over the house he provided me with a detailed description of the work and materials needed for the job and an estimate. He also said he noticed I had a skylight that looked quite old and stated he could replace it. That is something I hadn't thought about, but it was well worth it. He also reviewed with me my options for the skylight and ordered and cared for the delivery. I had received other estimates and M&J's price was the best and based on their reputation I hired them for the job. Jason said it would take approx. 2 -4 weeks before they could begin the work, which was well within my schedule. He called within a couple weeks and said they were ready to start the job. They showed up on a Friday morning, as promised, and finished by Saturday afternoon. To give you an idea of the size, I have a 2000 sq. ft. Colonial with an attached 2 car garage. All work was done as stated and I couldn't be more happier with the result. They were fast, courteous, and prompt throughout. I would definitely recommend M&J if you are considering a roofing job.

Their work was excellent and their price was very reasonable. All work was done on time and everything was cleaned up afterward. We have had no further problems with our roof in spite of the ice damming that occurred in the winter of 2011 and the heavy snowfall of 2013.

The job was done very punctually, thoroughly, and cleanly. I haven't yet found any nails in the landscape or on the driveway. Kudos to a great company!

Great roofers! We received several bids for our roof and I spoke with each one. Jason was very easy to get ahold of on his cell and always arrived right on time. Getting six people to agree on a company turned out to be rather easy after reviewing the Angie's List reviews and receiving a competitive bid from MJ Roofing. To my pleasure, all the positive reviews on Angie's List are well deserved. The guys arrived around 7:30 every morning and were still going at it well into the evening. The job took 5 days plus an additional day for the gutters - a day or two earlier than was promised. We only had a few minor questions during the job and Jason returned our calls immediately. They clean up really well, every day, before leaving. They did a great job on the roof and new gutters look great. Give Jason a call and choose MJ Roofers if you want a worry-free experience.

I've put off repairs since we bought the house 9 years ago, afraid not only of cost, but of being ripped off by an unscrupulous contractor. Since joining Angie's List, I've gained more confidence in selecting services. After reading reviews for several roofing contractors, I settled on a few to call. I got ahold of Jason at M&J Roofing first call (no unreturned voice-mail as I had with another Angie's List contractor), and he was willing to come out that day. He arrived right at the designated time and was very friendly and professional. He inspected my roof, inside and out, and said the only problems he saw were the locations known to leak (he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need, as was my fear). Jason provided a verbal estimate, followed that evening with a written (e-mail) estimate. Based on my first impressions (extremely favorable) and the price, I decided to go with M&J Roofing and informed him the following day (via e-mail). Jason promptly replied that he could likely start the following week - and did. The crew arrived right on time, they were fast, friendly, and discussed what they were doing and why. When work was completed, the 2-man crew did a thorough job of cleaning up after themselves. Had I not been home to see that the work was actually being performed, I'd never have known they were there; and the new singles matched the rest of the roof perfectly. Totally professional workmanship! Fantastic overall experience!

Arrived on time, I explained the leaking we experienced during a strong rainstorm and he said he thought he knew what it was. He went up on the roof, took a few photos and returned to the ground to show me the cracks in the boots of both vents. He also brought me onto my deck where I could get a partial view of the cracks. He fixed the problem in less than a half hour. He also checked my 20 year old roof and said that it was still in decent condition. It did not require and further work. I admired his honesty. I also liked the fact that he didn't make up a story about the roof needing unnecessary repairs. I would definitely call him again if I have a problem.

They came in and got the whole thing done in one day. They got it done very quickly. It looks really good and they made sure that everything was done right. I will use them again. I have a phase 2 that I want them to do, so when I am ready to do phase 2, I will give them a call. I had damage from hurricane Sandy and so I am waiting for my insurance company. I am trying to get my insurance company to pay more. They came out right away and did everything in one day and really made sure that I would not have anymore problems. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The whole time they were here they were really hustling. They really worked hard.

The person never showed. So, it didn't go well at all.

In my opinion, no service was performed. He came, he looked up at the roof, he dropped off a packet and said, "Looks okay to me." He didn't even go up on the roof or give us anything in writing about the roof. Totally unprofessional.

Jason was knowledgeable and professional. His crew was diligent and neat. The gutters were done by a subcontractor who was equally professional, diligent and neat. We had a particular issue with water draining onto an outdoor light fixture - both the roofers and the subcontractor installed "solutions" and we haven't had a problem since. There were two small problems during the installation - a part of an upstairs window was damaged, and a second outdoor light fixture was damaged. Although it took a little longer than I would have like, I'm happy to say that Jason addressed both issues without argument or debate - he even showed up personally to fix the window. And when we sent him our electrician's bill, we received reimbursement promptly. We chose M&J because of their rating on Angie's List and I'm happy to say they lived up to it.

The stimate was detailed and priced fairly. And the work was performed accord to the specs. Jason (the owner) was onsite throughout. He even took away old shingles we had stored from the original roof from 25 years ago. There was slight damage to some bushes which Jason gladly reimbursed us for. The crew was professional and I'd use them again.

Needed at least half the roof repaired due to October ice storm and trees falling on roof. M J had previously done good work on a chimney reflashing job so I contacted them. Needless to say they were booked solid but managed to fit me in a few weeks later. A 6 man crew arrived and did a very efficient and quick job of stripping, prepping.and re-roofing the house. I recall that they did it all in one day! Looks great, they did excellent clean up too. I am very satisfied. They might a have been a bit on the high side price- wise, but certainly in the corrrect range considering the speed and high quality of the job. Also the fact that demand was extremely high in the wake of this storm is a factor to consider.

I called M&J Roofing for the $199 Roof Maintenance Package. They arrived on time and inspected the roof. They did some minor repairs and informed me that the roof is in pretty good shape, but will need to be replaced in the next couple of years. They gave me an estimate but did not pressure me into having it done right away. I was very happy with the service and will probably hire this company for complete roof replacement.

Had our entire roof replaced by a different company approx 5 yrs ago and now we had a leak around the chimney. Jason took pictures of the mess that was left by the other roofing company and so far we have had no problem since he did the work. Very professional company from start to finish. Definitely would recommend this company.

We knew no one in the area to call so I came to Angie's List where I found several companies I could trust. I called 3 companies for estimates. Jason responded immediately & came out quickly to give us his estimate. I did receive a quote for another company but didn't feel good about the experience. We called Jason. He put us on his schedule 2 weeks out, which we were happy about given he & most other companies were busy with Sandy repairs plus CT winter was quickly approaching. He called & scheduled the project promptly. Weather delayed the work for a day but bright & early this morning he arrived. He & his worker did a great job, were very professional & cleaned up everything nicely. He communicated everything he was doing & had done after he finished. He made some recommendations that would help with other issues & guaranteed his work saying he would come back at anytime if we needed him too. Plus he honored the 5% discount as promised! I will definately call him again if we have any issues & would recommend him highly!!

Not good. The contractor was not professional and I felt he was trying to get out of there asap.

Our initial meeting with M&J Roofing was courteous and professional. My mother was provided with a thorough estimate, product list and verbal explanation of all work needed and what might be expected. She was given a copy of licenses and insurance which put her at ease , as she is in her 80's and had a prior bad experience with roofing. The owners of the company were easily accessible and returned my call regarding the work. On the each work day everyone was on time and extremely professional and courteous. There was no mess at all and everything was picked up daily. The job took a little less than 3 days and we were impressed with the outcome and the way every aspect of the work went. We would highly recommend this company for anyone's roofing needs.

Excellent and painless experience. Jason came out when he said to view the job and give a quote. He didn't try to sell anything, he was straight forward with what services they provided. They were able to fit me in based on my availability. They worked on the chimney for three days and then tackled the roofs for three days the next week. They were professional and finished the job on time as promised. They cleaned up immaculately every day before they left and best of all hauled away the debris on a daily basis, so I didn't have to have a dumpster in my driveway for a week. All of the workers were hardworking, respectful and courteous. Their price was not the lowest quote that I received, it was in the middle, but considering that they provide both masonry and roofing service, it was definitely worth it.

MJ was an awesome company to use for our roof repair. They had a great price.and we wouldn't use anyone else for our roofing needs. They did a great job and the roof was complete within 24 hours, did I mention it was as if they were never here. They were a fabulous group of professionals.

Jason and crew showed up within 1 business day of the projected start day when the contract was signed. I was kept informed of the actual start day as it got closer. Work was done over 2 days which seemed like a normal amount of time to complete both buildings. Jason installed a roof fan that I had bought. Finished product looks perfect. No complaints. Clean-up was very good.

They are two brothers who run the company. They were exceptional. I liked the professionalism of them coming to my home, sitting with me at my kitchen table, talking to me like a human being, and showed me samples. They gave me a hint that the roof I was leaning toward wouldn’t have been the best choice. They showed me a different colored shingle that is more subtle, and they were right. They even brought back larger samples before doing the roof so I could get a better idea of what to expect. They were absolutely wonderful. I read all of their reviews before inviting them into my home. Having so many multiple reviews, all being so positive, was the reason that I chose them.

Overall the assume nets was good value for the money

M & J Roofing were prompt and responsive. They have a 5 year warranty on their labor. Their price was also higher. The combination of the higher price and lower warranty made me not choose them.

This was the best contractor experience I have ever had. The owner of the compny answers the phone, provides estimates, and is always willing to go above what was quoted. Originally I contacted Jason for just roofing work. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgable and honest. After meeting with Jason I asked him to also also quote replacing my chimney. I left the repairs in his hands to pick the brick and the design. This was the best decision I made, every one of my neighbors stops me when they see me to ask who did my chimney. As previous reviews state, once you contract with M&J, the scheduling and communication is nothing like I ever experienced. Jason called within a week to tell me Chimney mason would be arriving. The mason was exceptional, took his time to do the job right and I am so pleased with Jay's work. I will add Jason showed up numerous times to check on status of Chimney and kept me informed as to when I could expect his roofing crew. They arrived on time , were professional, and you would never know they were there when they left. The crew is professional, well mannered, and very hard working. Jason and his brother (Owners) were on the roof the whole day working along side them to make sure the job got done right. I can't put into words how pleased I am with this experience. M&J Roofing is a family owned business and its nice to meet a contractor who appreiciates the legacy his father built for him. I highly reccomend this contractor to anyone needing roofing repairs or masonry work.

I had roofing shingles buckling and checked Angies list for a roofing contractor. Based on positive reviews I called M & J Roofing. When I called them Jason answered and I explained the situation to him and he arranged to meet with me to see the damages and provide me with a cost for proper repairs. He came out as agreed to inspect my roof and provided me with a fair price and then arragned for a time to do the repairs. He showed up with his crew at the time and date schedlued and completed the rapairs to my roof. When he got on the roof he discovered that the OSB of the structural panel had rotted due to prolonged exposure to water that was due to an improperly installed section of roof 15 years ago when the house was built. He proceeded to advise me of the problem and then went to purchase the additional material needed to replace the OSB with plywood and installed new shingles on the damaged section of the roof. He did all this in a matter of 4 hours and did not charge me anything additional for material and or labor. I highly recommend M & J Roofing and Jason.
