Awesome is one word to sum it up!! We have roof with very little pitch on an addition which we called have called the possessed roof. We were at our wits end trying to stop this roof from leaking and had enough with the friend recommendations as we were on our 3rd roof in 10 years. This company came to look at it as promised and clearly explained our problem. He wrote up a estimate, came with all background information including insurance and promised to complete the job prior to our vacation. They came as promised and finished the work all in one day with a guarantee of their work. They took no down payment and the quoted price never changed!! Their crew was courteous and professional ... Clean up was spotless!! We have been through several heavy rainstorms since and no problems!! The roof looks beautiful! This is one company that deserves to be in business. I actually forgot how a real contractor does business!! Thank you again M&J... You have earned our respect!

The owner came out himself and he was very thorough and not pushy. He listened to me and explained what they would be doing. He seemed very professional and I was happy with that. The quote process was fine. He came when he said he would.

The crew had to remove 3 layers of roofing material to get to the support layer of 6" boards - many of which were rotted. The entire structure was pretty unstable, so Lou made the decision to remove and replace with the 3/4" plywood in sections. (As opposed to pulling all the supporting wood off at once and risk a full building collapse.) They added two cross beams to have full contact for the joints of the new plywood sections and finished with 2 layers of roofing material and a metal edging. Although not in the original estimate, they replaced a section of trim and added a 6x6 column support to the center of the carrying beam of the structure. This was a monster of a job and we did end up paying above the original estimate, but the quality of work, the attention to safety, details and the cleanup we received in return felt fair to us. In addition to the project difficulty, the weather was in the 90s today and yet, the entire crew was pleasant and professional all day. That was appreciated to me as the homeowner in light of the structural issues uncovered at the start of the project. Again, these guys were great and I would not hesitate to recommend than to anyone.

He was very good. He looked at the issue I had and verbally gave me a quote and asked if I was interested in preceding that he would come and give me a formal written up quote. He was on time and efficient. He was very personable.

They were ontime and friendly, offered a clear estimate of the work they would do. However, I chose another more local company which offered a better rate.

He was very good. Excellent. Very, very good. Very professional, punctual, they cleaned up, they did it when they said it was going to happen and very careful .It was just wonderful. I mean I can't say enough good things about him. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat, he did a wonderful job. And actually as far as roof was a concern, I've had other roofs done on the house and I've never had a roof done that was that clean. He really cleaned and very little debris left.

Overall all we are very pleased with the job. We obtained three quotes on the roof replacement (all from roofers we found on Angie's List) and M&J came out in the middle. We hadn't originally intended to replace the 4 skylights, but Jason pointed out that they were already ~40 years old and starting to show their age and that it was much easier to replace them now. I agreed with the logic and thought the price was reasonable. We also added a ventilation fan at Jason's suggestion, which has helped cool the 2nd floor. We moved the start date twice - once to accommodate our schedule and once due to a rainy stretch. It was easy to contact Jason - he provided a cell phone number. He often picked up the call and when he couldn't he typically called us back quickly. The crew was professional. They cleaned up at the end of each day and stacked their supplies neatly. They needed brief access to the house to center the skylights and they worked around my schedule. One of the glass panels from the back porch shattered during the removal/re-installation (safety glass). They very carefully cleaned up all the glass and replaced the panel without any comment. A week after the installation we had a heavy sustained rainstorm and as we expected the back porch no longer had any leaks. We would definitely recommend M&J to anyone looking to replace their roof.

This company is great! Strong work ethic, serious craftsmanship and attention to detail. Excellent customer service, both in getting a quick and reasonable quote, and on the day the work was completed. My 1950's cape suffered from this winter's storms with wind damage to the roof. Mine is not the high-end home CT is known for, but M&J treated me, and more importantly my house, like it was! Jason was calm, thorough & not at all condescending . He didn't try to sell me more repair than I needed -- only the front, steep slopping side of the roof needed replacement. Gave a very thorough explanation of what work would be done and answered all questions without rushing me thru the decision. He even offered to came for a second visit and met with the insurance claims adjuster. The actual work done far exceeded by expectations! What was quoted---was what I paid. This is a multi-generation family business, and they really showed a great amount care of my property and concern for my satisfaction with all aspects of the work. I witnessed a great attention to detail -- from start to finish! Louis explained all the materials they were using and why. I now know more about roof repair than my insurance adjuster. No question I asked was met with rolling eyes, or shrugged shoulders. When done, the cleanup was the icing on the cake! Even their trucks are spotless! I also had gutter guards installed around the entire roofline and equal care was given to its installation. Roof repair is not inexpensive --- but I feel every cent of this repair was well worth it

I called M & J and left a voice message. Jason called us back the same day and set up a time to meet for a free appraisal 2 days later. He showed up on time and he was very knowledgeable in the field. He made some suggestions and explain the scope of what needed to be done. We called him a couple of days later and he scheduled us within 10 days. We are very happy with the new roof and we will recommend to anyone looking for professionalism, quality & experience.

It went excellent, superb customer service. They were timely and they arrived when they said they would. They stuck to the price there were no surprises, everything was included. They were very neat they cleaned up the work sight everyday before they left. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

They didn't work for us, we just got an estimate. They were one of the cheapest, they're the least expensive and they found a problem that we need to do and they gave us a quote for that. They were willing to work with us as far as the area that we preferred.

He gave me the good news that no work was needed on my recently purchased home. Very honest, polite and punctual. Trustworthy! What a relief to have found someone that would not try to sell me something that I did not need.

It was wonderful. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. They did a spectacular job. Went the extra mile for us. The job was finished in three days like they said it would be. It was great. Very professional.

Louis and Jason along with an additional helper showed up on time as scheduled Monday May 20th to perform the roof replacement for our house, a typical average size colonial. The crew worked quickly and efficiently and had half the roof completed at the end of the 1st workday. I was concerned about the condition of the plywood because the roof had not been worked on for about 20 years and the last time work was done was only to apply a layer of shingles to the existing roofing. Louis informed me as soon as he saw the plywood that if was good and that only one small piece had to be replaced (which he did for no charge). Another small job that was planned was to add vent for an upstairs bathroom exhaust fan. This was done without problems and Louis even supplied his own piece of 4" exhaust hose so I can now return the 20 ? section I had purchased locally for the job. During the course of the job, Louis also informed me that our gutters (which had never been cleaned since we did remodeling with new siding and gutters some 9 years ago) were clogged with debris. Although this was not talked about during the initial contract negotiation, we agreed to having his crew clean the gutters and top them with mesh screening for a reasonable addon cost. One additional task that was negotiated after the fact on site was to spruce up a very dinging looking tin chimney topper with a coat of white paint. When the chimney topper was moved to check underneath, it was found that squirrels had a master living space packed in (for many years no doubt). Louis and crew clean it out and sealed the cap to prevent the little critters from repeating their home building tactics. This was also a reasonable additional addon cost. The 2nd half of the roof replacement was completed the 2nd day and Louis and crew were completed and on the road after a thorough site cleaning by mid-afternoon. All in all I wouldn't hesitate in referring M&J for anyone requiring roofing work. They showed themselves to be honest, hardworking and reliable while completing quality work on time.

Jason, owner of M&J, responded immediately to my request for an estimate to replace my roof and set an appointment. Was punctual on such date and provided a detailed and professional estimate of services required. Was very personable and open to concerns and questions that I had. It was obvious that Jason was an expert at his trade. Price and services to be provided were also extremely competitive. When he and his crew came out to do the work, completed the job quickly and professionally. Crew is extremely hard working and did an excellent job in replacing the roof and removing the debris. The only MINOR criticism that I have is that Jason could have been a little bit more responsive in addressing contractual changes/questions and keeping me in the loop as to when they were going to perform the job. Will definitely use them again and recommend them to family and friends!

The total job took 2 days from stripping the roof to clean-up. We were very pleased with Jason's workmanship and professionalism. He answered our questions and listened to every concern. It was a very good overall experience!

They were excellent. They did everything that needed to be done and more. They even brought me lunch. Anything I asked for and needed, they did and took care of. The price was excellent. It’s what I could afford and they worked with me and it was a fair price. It was worth every penny.

After striking out with a number of roofing contractors, I got lucky with M&J. I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise here - everything with them went smoothly. They were the lowest estimate for replacing the 30-year-old roof on my house, and they were phenomenal: they showed up early and spent about 12 hours a day at the house, finishing the job in under three days. My neighbors commented on what a great job they did cleaning up the job site every day as well. You could hardly tell any work was going on at the house, they were so diligent. If you're looking for a hassle-free roofing job, look no further.

We have a 21 year old house near the shoreline, and one of the things that seemed to be wearing out was the roof, although there was no leaks or such. I had no idea how much such jobs cost so called up 4 roofing companies from Angie's list for estimates. All the companies responded and the prices for 3 of them were relatively close. One company that was local was my initial preference but then I was ticked off by my interactions when I asked about details. I finally chose M&J based on the reviews on Angie's as well as the very helpful and informative estimate that Jason (one of the owners) provided. I was not in the house when he came but he left a very thorough estimate with shingle samples, literature on the material used and copies of his insurance. Jason answered the phone directly and was easy to reach. We decided on a particular day and we had to adjust our schedules to accommodate that, and so were a little bit unhappy that they could not begin their work early as promised, both because they had to finish some stuff at their last project, and the dumpster had not been delivered. Anyway the work began towards the middle of the day and we were very impressed by the professionalism of the crew and their efficiency. They finished the work as promised in 2 and a half days and left the entire property spic and span. The new roof looks great and I expect it is going to last for a long time. I liked dealing with Jason, he was very friendly and accommodating of our requests. I will definitely be willing to use him again.

Went very well. This roofing company is very responsive and is very interested in positive customer service. Jason went above and beyond in is customer satisfaction.

I was very impressed with how prompt and friendly Jason was. We were trying to get our house up for sale, so we were in a time crunch, and Jason was able to accommodate us almost right away. I was also very impressed with the guy (Jay?) who rebuilt the chimney. He went above and beyond what he had to do, redoing more layers as he saw the severity of the damage--at no extra charge to me, as well as tidying up a small exhaust chimney in the middle of my roof. There were a couple other men who came to help at various times and they were also pleasant to interact with. I am always a little worried when I have work done and have to invite strangers onto my property who will be in the proximity of my family. All the workers from M&J Roofing were very friendly and kind to my kids. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs chimney or roof work done.

They arrived on schedule, were very professional, completed the work efficiently and thoroughly the first day for the roof and finished up the chimney and gutters the second day. I recommend them and would have them again should I ever move and need to have roof, gutter and chimney replacement on another house.

I called Jason for an estimate and received a very fair price. He was professional and friendly and I strongly considered hiring his company to replace the roof on my house and my garage. After extensive research and numerous estimates, I went against my better judgement and hired someone a friend recommended. The short version is, it didn't work out. This person started work on my roof and then everything fell apart. I called Jason in a panic and explained the situation. He offered to come by that day and take a look. He was so professional and courteous and never made me feel stupid for the bad decision I had made. That meant a lot to me. Jason agreed to take on the job. Later that day, his brother Louie showed up with another worker and they covered my roof with a tarp. I was grateful for this as it was going to pour rain that night. Louie was also professional and courteous. He also did not make me feel dumb for my bad decision. Jason & Louie were not sure when they could fit me in but assured me they would come and complete the job ASAP. Three work days later at 7am the work began. They finished the project in 2 days and came back on the third day to clean up. My roof looks great and I look forward to recommending their work to my family, friends and co-workers!
