Luis responded promptly after I called about our roof leak. Came out to our house promptly the next day. We went up on the roof together and he identified the problem areas. He's very knowledgeable, intuitive, and friendly. Their quote was very fair. Having researched several repair companies, I found their pricing to be very competitive and absolutely fair. We scheduled a date (weater permitting) and the a crew of 3 arrived promptly early in the morning. They worked hard & put a good 6 hours into the job. We have a tough high-sloping contemporary house roof with a couple different pitches. The crew, including the owner (Jason) were great. I was invited up on the roof to inspect their quality work and was very impressed. Their cleanup was SPOTLESS.. with all the shingle work, chimney work, vacuuming out our gutters- no mess was left behind. Luis even followed up with me after the work was done to check in. They came when they said they would. They took pictures to show me what the problems were before they started the job. They were personable but at the same time professional. I trusted that they knew what had to be done and they finished the job in two days as they said they would. They cleaned up afterwards which is a big plus in my eyes. I thought the price was right for all that they did. Louie, Mike and Alex went above and beyond to make sure that the job was done satisfactory and I was happy with it. We have had M & J Roofing take care of all work related to our chimney and roof since we have lived in this home, including the re-shingling of our roof and repointing the chimney. We are now selling our home and the inspection revealed a couple of small flaws. A quick call to Jason and Louie at M & J Roofing resulted in an instant response. ( I love the fact that one of them always answers the phone)! Louie came here to check out the two issues and scheduled a time a couple of days later to repair both........perfectly! Their friendliness, professionalism, and willingness to quickly remedy a problem has been wonderful! I would urge any reader of Angie's List to consider them for future roof repairs!!!!! Their price structure is excellent! You will never be disappointed !!!

The person who came to assess the job was Jason, the owner if the company. He was polite, helpful and easy to talk to. He spent some time evaluating the job to understand what it entailed and took the time to explain to us what he believed had to be done. We asked him for recommendations and he quickly got us names and numbers of customers who required similar work on their chimneys. The references were very positive. We solicited many bids for this job and the prices quoted had a huge range, so we asked him to come back again and take a look at the job again to make sure we both understood what had to. be done. With so many bids, we had developed a better understanding of what we believed had to be done, so we rewrote the job description to make sure that what he quoted was what we felt had to be done. He and his crew showed up on time, were pleasant and professional and cleaned up after themselves. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. I would highly recommend this contractor and would definitely use him again.

He was responsive, thorough, and his cost was fair. He ensured that the job was done right even though it was a small job. I will definitely use them again.

How did it go? It never got off the ground. Louie never showed up. Louie might be a great roofer, but he never responded to our inquiries.

We are very pleased with the results. Workers very polite and arrive on time and get the job done. To my surprise my gutters were even cleaned and sagging gutter fix. AWESOME!!!!!!

Working with Louie and his crew was a pleasure. He worked with us to get the cost down and performed everything he said he would, without cutting corners. He and his team was punctual and professional. We could not be happier with the result. In addition to the new roof, the crew wrapped (aluminum) all fascia and rakes, and installed new soffits around the whole house. The whole job was done in two days. I highly recommend Louie from M&J.

I called M and J on a Tues. during a very windy rain storm when I noticed water dripping in my kitchen. Since they had installed the roof 4 years earlier, I wanted them to check it. I was told that someone would be there first thing Wed. Michael came on time and checked the roof. Due to the ice and snow from the past winter the flashing had become bent. I was showed a picture of the damage and one of the repair. Even though the damage was not due to their installation, they did not charge me. I was impressed by their promptness, courtesy, and professionalism. I was very pleased dealing with them while getting our roof replaced and am more than satisfied with their follow up service.

Finding the right contractor for your roofing work could be frighting. After getting a couple of quotes from my local contractors, my colleague recommended Angie's list. It turns out to be a very wise decision. Jason showed up the second day after I contacted him and gave us a very competitive quote. I liked the fact that he is specialized in roofing and can finish the whole roof in one day (others need 2-3 days). His crew showed up a couple week's later as promised and did an excellent job. Roof looks beautiful and they also cleaned thoroughly. Jason also proposed and implemented a nice way to deal with the leaking issue between the roof of the house and the connected porch roof. We can't be happier with our choice.

After the long winter of ice building up on one section of our roof, we had a rain storm that started to flood into our home. I called M&J and they quickly came out and had the roof repaired. They are costly, but definitely worth the piece of mind.

Louie's initial explanations inspired trust, he offered a competitive price, and his crew did an outstanding job.

M&J was very professional and punctual. I would recommend them to others and would reach out to them for future estimates.

They did a thorough job and were extremely professional. Happy to answer questions, easy to reach by phone, they showed up when they said they would, completed the job quickly, and charged what we agreed upon up front (there were no sudden ballooning fees as the job went on). A rating, I would definitely use them again.

As a followup to my experience with this roofer my father need a new roof on his house. My father has experience in roofing and was impressed with the work they performed on my house. He signed a contract with them in November figuring they would come out when weather permitted. To our surprise we had 2 warm days over 50 degrees and Pat and his crew arrived promptly at 8 am. My father never saw a crew so well coordinated. Everything was repaired in 1 1/2 days with not a nail left behind. Super job and well worth an outstanding recommendation.

Louie came out initially to repair a leaking skylight. He returned the call promptly and came out to the house the next day at the exact time he said he would. He quoted us for the repair of the leaking portion of the roof and new skylights. Once the work was started we asked for a quote for replacing the entire roof. He gave us the quote and ensured us that all of the skylights didn't need to be replaced. We went ahead and did the entire roof. The roof had two layers of shingles and most of the plywood underneath was rotted and soft. This was all was done in January through rain, snow and low temperatures with heavy winds. The crew did a great job and cleaned up extremely well after the work was done and made sure the driveway was clear of debris and nails at the end of every day. They began the work on Wednesday and finished on Monday. Over the weekend at around 7pm they were not working but we had a torrential rain storm and one small area that was protected with a tarp on a flat rood began to leak slightly. Rain was coming down in sheets and sideways. We called Louie and he was there in 30 minutes with one of his crew. They got up on the roof in the storm and re-laid and secured another tarp and the leak stopped immediately. Overall it was great service with great professionalism.

Called set up appointment. M J roofing was a no show or call. Surprising with reviews on Angie's. Work was subsequently awarded to another roofing contractor.

I liked that they could give me an all inclusive quote, including chimney work (masonry) and gutters. The work was done on a Saturday (7:30am-5pm), and half-day-Monday (gutters), just before cold weather set in. Worked out well, with all flashing around chimney, drip moulding, and all new gutters. Chosen GAF shingles look good too. Due to darkness at first work day's end, I had a bit of cleanup to do myself (some nails, some scraps of roofing), but given the tight timeframes and importance of removing leak sources before winter, well worth those minor hassles, at a slightly lower price quote than another company who wouldn't have done the chimney work or gutters. No nonsense price negotiation, and scheduled the work just a few days after the estimate was given and approved. Recommended them to neighbors as well.

Louie came and gave an estimate. It was Not the cheapest. He assured how he stands behind his work and how he went out of his way to ensure that he gives the best quality and stands behind his work. I think he did a great job.

Jason is a pleasure to do business with. He gets back to you really quickly and is more flexible than most at finding a time that works for you to meet to discuss the job. He explains things very clearly. He is very honest - I asked about new gutters, and he said he could do it. But when I told him I was also planning on residing the house, he told me I would be better off residing first, then putting in the gutters. Similarly, I had contacted him one year prior when my roof started leaking. He told me he doesn't do repairs, but I wasn't ready for a new roof yet. He very kindly explained to me how to fix the leaky roof myself! Of course, he was the first person I called when it was time for a replacement. His team is amazingly efficient and clean and courteous. They cleaned up really well. The roof looks great.

M & J was very professional, prompt, honest and reliable. The price was fair and the roof came out great. There were NO hidden charges and they do the job fast. I am impressed with the quality of work they did _- workmanship was amazing and they used high quality roofing materials at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend them.

M&L was a great company to work with. We contacted several companies to take a look at water stains that had appeared in the ceiling. Louie was prompt, came out with short notice and took a thorough in the attic, on the roof itself, took measurements and pictures and came back to us with a reasonable estimate that was generally in the middle of the pack. Also checked out the skylights for us, revealed issues we had with the chimney. Other roofing companies did the following: 1) Company A looked on the roof, patched something and never told us what they did, never responded to subsequent follow-ups, sent a bill, then sent an enormous estimate several weeks later while wondering why they hadn't heard from us. 2) Company B didn't even look at the roof or the attic, measured the roof from the ground (?) and gave an estimate. M&L came out when they promised to do the roof, and very efficiently did everything in the span of 1.5 days. After they cleaned up, you couldn't tell they had ever been there except for the new skylights. M&L gave us a good deal on everything, and even threw in an extra vent that hadn't been accounted for at first as it was later found to be cracked. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. They were professional, stuck to their quote, and did a solid professional job.

The time had come to replace the roof, the third and last roof on our house had been installed in 1974. In addition to reroofing our large 2 family, 3 floor (with full attic) house with 50 foot front porch, sun porch, and small back porch, there is also a stand alone 2 car garage. I obtained 5 bids from various contractors, a few of whom I researched here on Angie's List. I went with the lowest bid, also weighing the excellent reviews M&J Roofing received from this site. (And yet I wonder why our house cost so much more than any other house I see done here by this vendor on Angie's List?) I really wanted to be able to give these guys an "A." I liked them very much BUT they used a rather inexperienced foreman for this major job who did not seem up to the task. They submitted the bid on a Friday afternoon in August and I accepted immediately as I wanted to get it done, which surprised Lou. I probably should have negotiated a bit more. Lou called the following Sunday evening to say they could start the Tuesday following Labor Day, which pleased me, as I was glad to see them act so promptly. However, when doing a really big job like this, be sure the guy you meet with will be the foreman on the job. The brothers, either Lou or Jason, appeared on site almost every day for an hour or so, but they were not supervising the job on site every hour of the day. For example, our house had been sided in aluminum in the late 50s or early 60s, before we bought it. So when they ripped the 3 old roofs off, there was a gap between the siding and the new roof, which was very very obvious, all over the house. I mentioned it to the foreman immediately, and suggested the gap job be done the same day the trim guy was on site, in order to get trim applied to the gaps, the way my neighbors had done when they had their roofs ripped off and new board and roofing installed, providing them with actual illustrations right on my street. Jason, the other brother, came and met with me and gave me reasons why they could not do it. But then I thought about it overnight, and I finally insisted upon trim being installed. They mentioned a cost of $500 extra but I ended up paying the agreed upon price in the estimate, because this is something they should have foreseen. Mine cannot be the first old house with siding they have done, nor the last. We have a very small yard which is completely planted with ornamental shrubs & trees and they did a pretty good job of taking care of the plants during the tear off. It was an enormously dirty and messy job with literally tons of debris. I covered everything I could before hand, both in the attic and in the yard, and they cleaned up the yard very nicely afterwards. But they ripped up the lawn in delivering only one gigantic dumpster instead of the smaller ones on rubber wheels that they had talked about at the beginning of the job. They really should have gotten smaller, rubber wheeled dumpsters. I was pretty upset, so they came in with a truck load of topsoil and reseeded the lawn as well. They told me what it cost, but did not charge me extra for it. My final caveat is that they did not use the GAF Timberline roof caps, but a different GAF product instead. I mentioned it to them at the time, and Lou said the GAF Timberline ones stick up too much and I could have them if I really wanted but since the others were there, I just said go ahead and use them, I wanted the job to be finished. On the whole, Lou & Jason were responsive to my concerns and did a good job in 9 days. Their guys were hard working and courteous, so I bought them lunch and provided plenty of beverages every day. But again I must emphasize, someone with more experience should have been the foreman on the job. It was a big job - not as big as they originally thought as there were a dozen packages of roofing material left over (they did leave one for me for repairs). And the price was higher than I would have liked but it was what I agreed to at the beginning. Two of the GAF Certified guys who are on Angie's List gave me written estimates that were $2400 to $5400 higher in price - which included the Angie's List discount, but without the Golden Seal Certificate, which cost extra. So I saved some money. But I had to supervise and negotiate the whole way which should not have been necessary. The house looks very nice and hopefully this new roof will last at least as long as the one we had installed in 1974.

M&J was affordable, fast, flexible, always picked up the phone if I needed anything and did a good job. I had my roof replaced and new gutters put on. I would recommend them.
