M - J Roofers did a superb job! Their work was meticulous, quality of materials used were the best, their workmanship was of the highest caliber in my opinion, the clean up was meticulous, and most importantly the job has worked -- the new side of the house where M-J replaced the roof is dry as a bone, and from the inside feels better insulated and a far warmer space post-new roof.M-J are roofers who really know their trade, and I can't praise their work more highly!

They took the old roof off and put a new roof and gutters on. They were very good and I could not ask for anything better. They gave me a discount because I was on Angie’s List and it took them one day to complete it. The gutters were put on a week after the roof. They also helped me picked out a roof color.

The roof repair was on the connection between the porch roof and the roof of my house. A water barrier was installed along with matching shingles. The work was professional and prompt. They went out of their way and repaired the edging of my siding! They are very nice to work with. I was given $50 off for dinner on them!

Excellent work performed for a fair price. They were punctual, nice, professional and very neat. I was also impressed by the thoroughness of the clean up. The roof has held up well and looks great. The only thing that happened was that the cap they installed on the chimney blew off during a bad windstorm. They came out in 45 minutes later to reinstall it free of charge over a year after the original job. I wish all contractors were that considerate! Thanks!

I was very impressed by the service provided by M&J. After making the initial contact, Louis visited our house and climbed up our roof to inspect the chimney. That right there impressed me as I had quoted the work with a different company in the past and the rep didn't even bother going up to check the problem. He found serious issues with the lead wrapping and grouting around the chimney. Due to the seriousness of our issues he recommended to completely re-do the chimney as a long term fix, however we opted for a short term solution for financial reasons. Louis and his team came back the next day (as promised) and completed the work. The day after the work was done he called to follow up on the installation. Unfortunately due to the state of our chimney the fix was not 100% effective, but Louis was considerate enough to only charge us a fraction of the agreed amount, even though we were in full acknowledgement that the fix we chose had its risks. It was a pleasure working with Louis and M&J, their work ethics and customer service are unparalleled. We will definitely be calling them back next year when we decide to re-do the chimney.

Louie and Jason are great. Very professional , organized ,polite and punctual. They always showed up on time as scheduled. They have wonderful crew. Cleaned up very well after completing the job. I am very happy with their work. Great quality work. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO EVERYONE. THEY ARE THE BEST.

Louie answered my call immediately, and scheduled an appointment the next day. The work was done four days later. Louie and Mike were professional, clean, prompt, and nice. Mike also repaired my gutter and sealed some cracks in the chimney without charging me.

As far as we are concerned EVERY business should conduct themselves in the way in which M&J roofing does. After dealing with a roof leak since August and two different contractors we hired who assured us they fixed the problem, our roof was STILL leaking in the same spot in November. Needless to say, we were completely frustrated and disillusioned with ALL contractors at this point. But we had to get this problem fixed. We went on Angie's List and found great reviews for M&J roofing, so we called them. Louie promptly returned our call and came out that day!!! He climbed up onto our roof and checked out every inch of it. He quoted a fair price and set up date for the repairs within a few days. He did not even ask for a deposit,. He said we could just pay him when the job was completed and we were satisfied. On the scheduled day of service, Louie was right on time, did all the work contracted plus he did some things we needed to have done, but never asked him to do (see above). Clean up was meticulous!! The repair work came with a 5 year warranty. But the most AMAZING gesture, was after we paid Louie, he returned $50.00 as a baby gift for our grandson who was born 4 days earlier. Not only a good contractor, but a good human being. We would highly recommend M&J roofing to anyone and would definitely use them again.

Roofers arrived early on Sunday morning as planned. Had full crew. Spread tarps before beginning which kept debris off lawn and made for a quick cleanup. Finished everything on Sunday with exception of work on dormer which was finished on Monday morning. Very professional crew. Louie explained everything when he quoted estimates and took pictures to explain work that needed to be done.

In todays market, it is refreshing to find a contractor who comes when they say they are coming, does the job as described and picks up after themselves. This is M&J Roofing in a nutshell. Louie came out, looked at the job and quoted a price. (He happened to be the lowest of three.)The reason I chose him was because he showed me what was wrong and more importantly, how he was going to fix it. He took the time to explain what was needed, the type and quality of the materials he was going to use, and the time it would take to do it. He showed up the scheduled day and completed and cleaned up the same day. We discovered some additional work that needed to be done. Even being caught in a tight spot (it had to be done right now), he quoted a fair price and accomplished the additional work in the same time frame. I *never* file one of those "all categories excellent" reviews, but M&J and Luis in particular are the exception to that rule for me. M&J was one of three quotes we received for this job. Based upon the number of good reviews in Angie's List as well as the price, we picked M&J. Louie is who we dealt with. He was very flexible, making time to meet with us when we didn't have a lot of it. He actually was able to start the job 4 days earlier than planned; finished ahead of schedule; did everything we asked for and more, His crew left the property spotless, and delivered the complete project for exactly the amount he said he would. We could not be more pleased... no kidding. It's so rare in Fairfield County to get a contractor to even show up on time - I'm glad to say that M&J was not like that at all. The job looks great, and we are very happy with our choice. We would recommend them to anyone!

M&J actually gave me the lowest estimate of the two companies I had estimate my roof. The estimator was polite but I wanted an assessment of my roof's current condition and options other than just a full replacement cost. I explained what I was looking for when I made the appointment and while the estimator was on site. The contractor I hired, came up on the roof with me and gave me three options: repair, replace half, or replace whole.

I had an appointment in the morning of the day of the installation of the new roof. I was told M & J Roofing could come early and start before I came home. The work and quality of the roofing shingles (GAF certified); far exceeded our expectations! It looks great! I asked if there was any problem with the installation and was told a section in the back. I then asked if there was any additional cost and was told no. If I need another roof on the main house in the future; I will call them. I would highly recommend M & J Roofing Company.

Louie and his crew were excellent to work with and very responsive to the construction schedule regarding work being done inside the house. Louie explained everything that was going to be done beforehand, and then reviewed with me again after the work was completed. His crew also performed extras such as painting fascia board before installing the gutters and replacing wood trim. I'm very happy with results, the house looks great, and Louie guarantees the work performed.

Have excellent communication system. Answer their cell phones 100% of the time I called (even on a weekend). They came back to check on one aesthetic issue and a second time when I thought there was a problem. Always responsive! Came same day and addressed my concern. I would highly recommend.

Excellent! They were able to come out and look at the job and provide a quote within 24 hours of my call. Although a very small job they were able to fit me into their packed schedule. They replaced a damaged piece of sheathing that was found during a home inspection to sell our home. They had the job done within a week of my call! Excellent job blending in the new shingles with the original! Absolutely recommend!

These guys are really good. Louie came out and did the initial estimate back in April 2014. We knew when we bought the home that it would need a new roof (it was apparent prior to the home inspection), but at the time we were just price shopping. Louie quoted us a price, provided us with copies of his license and insurance, and gave us samples of the shingles in a nicely prepared folder (nobody else did this). The quote was written on site and he ensured us that it would not be any higher unless there was some underlying wood rot. We received 5 estimates - two from Chester, CT roofers and 2 others from other roofers. All prices were within $1500 of each other (except for the Chester Roofing - who was several thousand higher then everyone else for less work). We ultimately decided to go with Louie because he seemed down to earth, made job suggestions others didn't, he wasn't pushy, and he was the most thorough in his presentation. Fast forward to September 2014 and we were finally ready to get the roof replaced. Louie came back out within 2 days of being called and discussed the job with me again. He estimated a start time of 2 weeks with a total job time of 2 days. We agreed on the price, added a few other details (replace the old, rotten facia along a dormer and replace the old, broken crown molding along the roof line) and signed the contract. 1 week later Louis called me and advised that he had an opening and would like to start the job the following day. I gave him the green light and his crew arrived at the house at 0800 that morning. Within less then 3 hrs, they had the roof fully stripped. Louie was on the job site with his crew during this time, and ensured everything went smooth. We left to run errands (3 week old baby in the house and 2 barking dogs) and when we returned at 1800, everything was completed except the gutters. The job site was cleaned and Louie was present with his crew, helping with final projects. The following day, the crew crew returned to install the gutters/gutter guards and to replace a small area of wood rot along the dormer. A day later we noticed that some debris fell down our range hood vent and they returned to vacuum it out, and advised that the existing vent was smaller then it should've been (installed by our contractor during a kitchen renovation), so they installed a larger exhaust vent free of charge. Louie followed up to ensure we were satisfied with the job when everything was complete - which we were/are. There was no existing damage to the original tongue and groove roof, so the price did not change at all from the quote. I am happy to show off my new roof. It made a huge visual impact over the pre-existing roof.

These guys are unbelievably professional and customer service oriented. They re-roofed our house and we immediately contracted them to reroof 4 horse barns (job completed yesterday). Don't even consider a other contractor.

Quick service, prompt and efficient team. a few unforseen problems not included in the consultatrion / estimate were addressed immediately with efficient and cost-effective solutions. Louie answered all our questions and demonstrated all roofing improvements when the job was completed. He would not leave until we were 110% pleased!

The quote was quick and reasonable. It was just a matter of personal preference.

I cannot speak highly enough of this company. I am sorry I don't remember the name of the person who came to our house to in response to our call. It may have been Jason or Louie. After hearing about the problem, a leak from the roof showing up in the living room ceiling, he determined what the problems were and explained what they would do. Since they were just finishing up a job, they were able to do the work the same day. Normally, we would have gotten a couple of more estimates, but between the initial impression we had and the many excellent reviews on Angie's List, we went ahead with the work that day - and was very glad that we did. I should note, that we received a copy of the liability insurance certificate and the company's State of Connecticut registration/license certificate - and a copy of the company's 2013 Super Service Award from Angie's List. Without the insurance and license information, we would not have proceeded the same day. In addition to explaining what the problems were, photos were taken both before and after the work was done, so we could see exactly what was done. From the explanation given, I felt they really knew what they were doing, really were very experienced roofers. In addition, they stand behind their work. They told me if anything comes up or I have any questions, just call. It is one thing to have work done well, but a real bonus when the contractors are as nice to work with as those with M&J Roofing are. I would certainly recommend them to anyone needing excellent roofing contractors.
