Exceptionally good experience with this company. Relying upon reviews at Angie's list, I contacted 3 different service providers, including M&J. Louie immediately responded, came in to check out the roof within a couple days, and provided the estimate. His price was competitive, and it was obvious that he cared about performing the job in a quality fashion. He provided good information without engaging in a hard-sell. The decision to go with this company was relatively easy. Work days were scheduled quickly. Roofing and the skylights were all replaced in one day. Gutter replacement was performed couple days later by a sub-contractor, and they were equally professional and cordial. I do not have the technical expertise to understand the intricacies of roofing. Louie pointed out a couple of extra things, and took care of them without charging extra for them. They also removed and reinstalled the satellite dish, and it is working fine (even though he had conveyed the possibility that it would not be fully aligned after reinstall). He even replaced the broken dryer vent cover with a new piece. In short, the job was done exceptionally well in all respects. This company is highly recommended.

I couldn't have asked for a better expierence. Louie's team completed the job with in a week. Everything that we had agreed on was met to my highest expectations. They were always available to speak to when ever needed. Extremely professional and respectful to the family and other workers on the property. (Multiple projects going on at once in the yard). The cleanup was immaculate, you couldn't even tell they were working. The house looks amazing I couldn't be happier!

Other than the short notice to start the work, Louie and his crew arrived on schedule and worked until early evening to complete the job. Foundation plantings and a new walk were protected. Louie was available all day, and was concerned about ascetics of the finished job, as well as our input. Clean- up was thorough. Additional expenses noted in our contract were fairly priced. The workers were quiet and professional, working tirelessly in the heat.

It was a fabulous experience. Louie is exceptional. The workers came and did their job, without incident. They cleaned up every night and were very respectful. They put this roof on my home, but a year ago they replaced the roof on a building we own and did an exceptional job.

M and J roofing was extremely professional, reliable, and a pleasure to work with. I had multiple quotes and M&J was competitively priced and easy to work with. Louie followed the process all the way from quote through installation. The team was always on time and professional. My roof, gutters, and chimney look excellent and my yard was left clean. I would not hesitate to use M&J for future roofing related needs.

We experienced wind damage and the metal covering over the fascia board was ripped off on one side of the house (~45 feet). I called 4 roofing companies the next morning (all were on Angie's List) and M+J was the only one that responded. He came out that afternoon and was able to price the work then and there, and begin repairs the next morning. They also better secured the fascia cover on the other side of the house. The workmanship and materials used were of high quality, and even better than that was original to the house. They also removed the old metal for us. Great experience all around.

M&J Roofing did a really great job. Louie is very knowledgeable, hard-working, honest, punctual and is committed to the job being done 100% correctly. His team of workers is also very good, and I would use M&J again without hesitation. Louie explained to me what they were doing, why they were doing it and showed me the work as it was being done via both cell phone pictures and an actual visit to my own roof! Louie's price quote was spot on, and when some unplanned repairs were discovered, i.e. my chimney tiles were both pretty well shot, he brought me up to the roof to show me and gave me a fair price for replacing them. His brother came out from Waterbury with the new chimney tiles and the repairs were done. The new roof, skylights, and chimney all came out beautifully, and the whole job was completed same day. Plus, I have a collection of pictures of the work, which will come in handy if I ever sell the house. M&J did an excellent job of protecting the bushes, etc. around the base of the house from debris. After cleaning up, the yard was cleaner than when they started. (Another part of the house had been re-roofed before I bought it, NOT by M&J, and I ended up removing about half a wheelbarrow load of shingles and roofing nails from my flower beds!) Louie is an exceptional contractor, is very personable and I would recommend him highly to anyone.

INFO AS WELL AS A PACKET FROM GAF TIMBERLINE HIGH DEF SHINGLES CHOICE WAS PEWTER GRAY WHEN JOB STARTED PART OF HOUSE WITH CATHEDRAL CEILING IN ORDER TO DO SOFFIT VENTS PLYWOOD NEEDED TO BE REMOVED THESE ARE HONEST ROOFERS BECAUSE TURNS OUT ONLY LOWER SHEET NEEDED TO BE OPENED SAVING 50% OF COST TO REMOVE OTHER SHEETS OF PLYWOOD THERE WERE ALSO OTHER AREAS THAT NEEDED WORK THAT LOU DID NOT CHARGE FOR ALL IN ALL VERY HAPPY WITH THE JOB AND THE ROOF LOOKS GREAT WITH THAT SAID M&J ROOFERS ARE HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

Louie spoke with my husband originally, he gave us a time to come out during the week but we both work and it would have been difficult to accommodate. Without missing a beat, he offered to come by that very weekend and assess the roof for us at a time that would be convenient for US. He called before he came (he was so prompt!), introduced himself, checked out the roof, came inside to check out the leak spot, then went back up on the roof and took pictures of the damaged areas so that my mother and I could see exactly what needed to be fixed. He gave us options and went over everything before leaving a written quote for the repairs we decided on (the folder he left included the written quote, a copy of his insurance, a copy of his license... it was incredibly professional). I spoke with my husband on Saturday, he called Louie on Monday to let him know we'd like to go ahead with the repairs, and they came Tuesday morning before the snow fell that afternoon so we would stay dry! If the roof didn't look so good we never would have known they had been here, there wasn't a speck out of place and everything was cleaned up beautifully. On top of that they came in under the quoted estimate. I would never hire anyone else. Louie was absolutely wonderful, I'm so glad we had the opportunity to meet him!!

It was a difficult project as there were 3 layers of old roofing to remove (Asphalt, steel & cedar shingle) on a really old house. Louie was constantly checking in & working with us to make sure that the project was done properly. Our roof is fairly large (4000+ sq ft) with lots of dormers and different angles & they did an excellent job. We would definitely use them again.

Called Louie and scheduled appointment for him to come out. Showed up when he said he would. They actually called early and asked if they could start the job early. Showed up on time and had most of the roof stripped by coffee break. I had a small leak near the chimney flashing which I was concerned might have created some spongy wood, but it was inspected by the boss and was given the go ahead. The crew applied two layers of ice and water barrier along the edge of roof and also up the roof near the chimney. A releif paper was installed over entire roof before a new composite shingle was applied. These guys even made sure my gutters were clean and empty before coming off the roof. The entire work site was gone over many times to check for nails and debri. Can't say enough about these guys and would recommend them to anyone.

We are happy to recommend M&J Roofing as our experience as been very pleasant. Louie, one of the principals, came to our home as scheduled and helped us evaluate our roofing needs. It was reassuring to us to know that the person making the recommendations and the estimate would actually be working on and supervising the job. The was not true of the other companies we consulted. The materials arrived one day prior to the installation, and a full team of workers were on the job the next morning. They set up the shrub protection, and were actively at work stripping the old roof right away. They worked steadily and finished the entire job within the time committed. They were thorough, professional, and neat. Within two days of completing the job, Louie was back at our house doing a personal inspection of the entire job and of the excellent cleanup. Reroofing a home is an expensive job and for most of us one that involves many elements that are not very familiar. We are confident that we made a good choice with M&J and feel others may want to consider them as well.

Louie, one of the owners, came and supervised the job. He and his team were professional, knowledgeable and they went a bove and beyond to help us. We had several unusual roof issues (decorative roof railing that they had to remove and come up with a solution as to how to replace them with no damage to the new roof) that he helped us solve. I was very happy with Louie and his crew. From the very beginning Louie was always on time and kept me informed of the status of my roofing job. He explained every aspect of the job and did a final walk-thru with me when the job was completed. They arrived on time the day of the job and were finished exactly when they said they would be done. They cleaned up my yard when they were done and left no trace of any debris or trash. I am very happy with my new roof and would recommend M&J to anyone.

Just like all the reviews before mentioned Loie showed up on time, in a clean truck, with clean clothes and was very polite. He walked around and a couple of days later I had the quote in my hands. What I liked about Loie was that he wanted to do the job exactly as I would if I were going to do it myself. He used high quality shingles, external baffle ridge vent and 6 feet of ice shield which is key in New England. The materials were delivered before they started and where ready and waiting for the day. We have a hip roof with four sides and it's on a very tall colonial. They were able to complete the job in two days. The best part was I couldn't find any sign that they had been there except for one little shingle scrap and a piece of plastic wrapper. As a person who rehabs house for a living this was one of the best clean ups I've ever seen any contractor do. They were very flexible with the times and scheduling and were willing to accommodate some scheduling issues due to other contractors being on site. Over all, you will not regret using M & J for your roof in any way shape or form. It's a hands down no brainer.

I used M & J Roofing for a roof replacement on my home a few months ago. Great job. Since then I recommended them to the trustee committee at my church to do some maintenance work on our roof at the church. Another great job. These guys are so versatile. I'm the executor for my in laws estate and I'm trying to sell their home. The roof on the home was 30 years old, and not the most appealing thing to look at when a buyer was looking at the home. I decided to replace the roof. M & J Roofing is the only company I will work with when it comes to roofing. I worked with Louie to set up the estimate process, and the scheduling of the work. As usual he was on time and professional. The contract was signed, the new sky lights were ordered and within about 10 days of signing the contract the job was scheduled. They arrived on time, did everything as agreed to in the contract. Once the shingles were removed it was clear that the sheathing in many areas needed replacing. No corners were cut, the job was done right. Ice and water barrier was applied 6 feet up. When I sell this house I can feel confident that there will be no issues with ice dam build up in the winter and leaking. The guarantee paperwork will be given to the new owners when I sell it and M &J Roofing will stand behind their guarantee. I will continue to recommend them to anyone that I talk to that is in need of roof work. They are the best.

They were prompt, courteous, and well-informed. They showed us pictures of what was happening on our roof and explained how they could fix it. They did all of their work over a weekend (because rain was forcast), and their entire crew worked their tails off to get the job done right.
