Mike called ahead to say that he was running a little behind schedule and to ask if it was still okay to come. I appreciated hearing from him prior to the expected appointment time. It showed that he valued my time as customer as well as his time. Upon arrival he showed concern for not tracking snow or mud into my home - even offering to remove his shoes. He asked the reason for the appraisal and what my thoughts were of the home's present value and about any prior appraisals. He explained the procedure before walking through my home and assured me that any pictures taken would be secure. Mike provided me with the opportunity up front to list any major home improvements which I had made as well as the opportunity to add to this list as we went along. He performed a very thorough and methodical review of my home including the attic, garage, and recently finished storage area above the garage. What I was most impressed with was his warm and friendly personality. Though not in this case, but I'm sure in many others, securing the highest possible home value in order to obtain a mortgage or to refinance at the lowest possible rate can be a very stressful experience particularly since appraisals these days are no longer done solely from the outside of the home. I had no stress whatsoever during this visit. I felt as though everything was up front. There were no secrets. I believed I would receive a totally impartial assessment and that he had no hidden loyalties to the lending institution who selected him. Lastly, though he certainly did not have to do this, when asked questions about making changes and improvements to my home, learning what changes would bring the greatest return for my buck and how not to get ripped off by a contractor, he provided me with very thoughtful answers clearly indicating his great knowledge and experience in his field. I would definitely recommend Mike and would use his services in the future in the event that I refinance my home again or purchase another home. I feel that he would provide me with the best appraisal using the latest market information. It was a very good experience.
