Finding Alex Masonry on Angies List was a gods sin. Alex and his crew were totally professional, friendly, and hard working. "Even when the boss was away". It only took about two weeks for the entire job, which was very fast considering the extent of the work to be done. We will definitely hire Alex Masonry to do other masonry work.

Alex and the entire team were prompt, courteous, professional and a pleasure to work with at all times. The type of work we were interested in (working with actual stone as opposed to pavers for the walls and patio areas) was not able to be done by a number of the contractors we called. Alex and the folks on the team responsible for laying the stone exhibited a level of master craftsmanship not often seen. We are extremely happy with the results and will be calling on Alex and the team again for some additional work. From the beginning, Alex returned phone calls promptly and was always on time for any meetings from the estimate through the entire process. The price quoted was the price paid and Alex and the team took exrtra pains to be sure the finished product looked great and that we were completely pleased with the results. We highly recommend Alex and his team for any of your masonary needs. In addition to the work he performed for us they handle any type of masonary work -- concrete, brick, pavers, etc. and we're very sure you'll be pleased with the results.

I contacted the company for a quote and Alex Jr. got back to me right away. He explained the different options and showed us samples of their available stones. Once we agreed on the project, Alex or Alex Jr. were at the job site every day with the work crew. They worked very quickly and efficiently, and kept in communication with me during the whole process to make sure I was happy with everything. Once or twice I needed to contact him through text and he always replied right away. Great people to work with, and they did a beautiful job! We've gotten many positive comments about the front entrance. I didn't give a perfect "A" for the price because it was a little expensive. But that has a lot to do with our choice of stone.

Alex Masonry was an excellent choice for the work that I needed done which was comprised of several different kinds of jobs. First, our chimney was deteriorating and 22 rows needed to be rebuilt. In addition, I have a large slate patio (28 x 30 ft.). It is over 50 years old. Large sections were cracked, popped out, or lost mortar. It was in terrible disrepair. Finally, the stoop of the back porch was in similar condition and no longer safe. I contacted Alex due to the good reviews that I had read. He called me within hours of my inquiry through Angie?s list. We talked over the phone and he came to the house a few days later to assess the job. He understood that I could not afford to replace the entire patio but needed essential repairs to make it safe and usable. He made recommendations where the work was most needed, suggested an approach to the back porch stoop to bring down cost, and advised me on how much of the chimney needed to be fixed to control it's deterioration. Given the size of the work, especially that the repairs he recommended for the patio (four different sections?two of which were very extensive) I expected a much larger estimate. His price was actually a little under my budget. In fact, I had a step to our garage also repaired because he was so reasonable that I added another job to my list. Alex had other work scheduled 5 weeks out, and gave me an idea of about when the work could begin, depending on the weather. He started within a day of his estimated timeframe. That is incredibly good for a job that is weather dependent. His start date was spot on. His men arrived on time, and were very polite and pleasant. They worked non-stop with only a short break for lunch. Alex thought the job would take 3 days. They had it done in 2 ½ days. I cannot believe how much they did in that timeframe. The work looks great. Alex tried to match the chimney?s brick and mix some of the old with the new bricks so that it would blend. That worked well. Also, there were cracks in the flutes of the chimney that could not be seen when Alex gave the estimate. He replaced them and did not charge or add any extra...not even for the cost of materials. The patio has varied colors of blue / red slate and his workmen also did a very nice job of blending the patio colors together so that the old and new sections work together. I was very worried that when they started to break up sections, more of the slate would break apart. It didn't. He was so good at identifying the sections that needed repair and finding where to make the cuts that the whole patio looks good now. It all blends well together. It's like having a new patio. In addition, there were some areas of the patio that were outside of the areas that he said he would fix, but he had his men put in some mortar in different places so that the whole patio looks nice and it is safer. There was also an old section of patio that was uneven and caused water to pool by the house. He identified and fixed it so that the section was very slightly raised in a manner that makes the water flow away from the house and toward the yard. That section had previously caused the basement to leak in the Spring thaw. I didn't understand why it leaked. He figured it out and he fixed it. I didn't ask him to do this. He just knew it was needed and did it. Even though I decided to replace the back porch stoop with plain cement work, that was also very well done. His father is highly skilled and came out at the end to brush and finish the stoop so that it has a sweep finish with a framed type of edge. It?s a cement block but he made it look really nice. There is clearly pride in workmanship and it shows. In short, Alex is on time. He and his workers are pleasant. His time and cost estimates are accurate. He sticks with the price he gives. His work and that of his men is good. He goes the extra mile to ensure that the job is well done and the customer is pleased. He is a skilled craftsman. I could not have gotten anyone better. I am very happy. I will hire him again.

iI hired Alex Masonry to rebuild the front entry to my home. The existing stone steps were narrow and steep and the steps were of random heights, posing a safety hazard. The adjacent stone retaining walls had crumbling concrete and large cracks. Alex, his father and crew turned a dark and cavernous stairway that many visitors expressed dislike for into an attractive entryway that enhances my home. They rebuilt the 2 stone walls using the existing stone and new stone they mixed together for a seamless look, topped each stair with a 4.5 foot length of bluestone and extended the stone facade back an extra foot or so to the corner where my garage meets the wall. At the top landing, they instlled a circular landing made of pavers in concentric circles, adding an interesting design element to an already handsome staircase. The wider stairs with a gentler incline are now more in keeping with the scale of the house and enhance the entry instead of posing a formidable passage. Alex Masonry was here when they said they would be here, cleaned up the site nicely at the end of each day and were always friendly and polite. Alex was also very flexible when I needed to defer the start of the project not once, but twice. I would definitely hire Alex again and I can't wait to show off my new entryway to friends and family. I would not hesitate to point out various issues with any given contractor, but in this case, there were absolutely no issues.

Alex Masonry had done work for someone I knew who was very pleased with the work done, as well as having excellent reviews on Angie's List. I have nothing but the highest praise for all aspects of dealing with Alex Masonry. Alex came to my house to discuss what I wanted done, recommended a good way to go and was at my home to do the work on June 10. You could not ask for nicer people to work at your home and the walk turned out beautifully. I wanted to keep the old bricks and the men piled them up neatly for me in an area where I wanted them. Alex himself is very responsive to phone calls and e-mails. He does not leave you hanging; he gets back to you within a reasonable time. I will certainly turn to Alex Masonry for any work needed in the future.

Alex Masonry exceeded our expectations in every category. This is a father-son team (both Alex's) that is highly respected not only by customers, but also 3 different stone supply companies I consulted with. First and foremost, they are skilled old-school masons that build things to last forever. There's no cutting corners from these guys and their attention to detail is off the charts. Their customer service couldn't be any better. Alex Jr answers his phone any time, day or night, and responds to text messages promptly as well. Their entire team is very talented as well as prompt, professional, polite, neat and very likeable. Our project was complicated and they executed the plan with precision. Also, they left our yard in perfect condition afterward. Their prices were in the middle of the estimates I received, but I believe the quality of their work exceeds all of the others. If you have a masonry project, I highly recommend using Alex Masonry, as I don't think you can do any better.

From being on time to provide the quote to the job being finished Alex was professional, courteous and accommodating, Workmanship, attention to detail and expertise in the trade was evident every step of the job. And, when the job was completed Alex and his crew did an excellent job cleaning up - I couldn't tell they were ever here! Crew was very professional. Alex spent a lot of time with my fiance and I to select materials. His father even came by to make sure everything was well done. The crew cleaned up after and the deck is beautiful.

Alex was a pleasure to work with. He worked with our schedule to come do an estimate and walked us through the pros and cons of 2 options. He gave us a time frame and stuck with it, and completed the job within half the time he initially quoted. His team were friendly and professional. They even stayed late to finish up a last minute add on. Everything turned out beautifully and we can't wait to use our new patio.

Alex and his partner agreed to come during the week , weather permitting . Instead , the weather Sunday was great , they had availability , and so they called me Sunday morning to ask if I was available . I was available anytime before 3 , as I had plans for the afternoon . We agreed on 12 pm Sunday . they actually came sooner to begin tearing up the old , cracked concrete . They both worked diligently , and efficiently , and were very pleasant to talk to . The patch they worked on was deeper than expected , but , they had all the supplies to finish the job anyway , and , on time !! The patch looked great when they finished , totally blending in with the texture and pattern of the patio . And , in the following days , we had some inclement weather . But , the patch has been curing and looks great ! I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone .

Alex and his workers showed up on time. Did the work and washed off the roof and driveway after work completed. Alex even had the hose rolled up and tied and shut the outside water faucet off for the winter. I'm quite disabled.

The job went beautifully. Alex is the most polite professional I've ever dealt with. He answered his phone on my first call and came out that day to assess the job. He measured and quoted a very good price. He followed up quickly to schedule the job and was very accommodating to our needs - we are a small, 6 unit condominium complex. Work was completed within 1 day. Less than 1 week from first phone call to job completion! I would absolutely recommend him and use him again.

Terrific experience. Alex always shows up with his crew when he promises, and he always picks up his phone when you call him. Our project was done as and when promised. We have used many contractors over the years, and the level of service that Alex provided to us is very rare. He was extremely patient as we worked through the different pattern options as he installed the block pavers to form a curved sidewalk. Highly recommend.

Alex Masonry did an excellent job. He was quick to respond to our needs and helped get our job done before Halloween so the kids can come trick or treating at our house. They built the steps over a two day period and my husband and I could not be happier with the job or the reasonable price. Thanks for a great job. Removed old pavers, and installed the sidewalks. Placed gravel, rebar mesh, and redi-mix concrete. The job took a day and came out excellent. Alex was very polite and conscientious. He showed up when he said he would, and cleaned up completely after he and his crew were done. His father also showed up on the job to make sure everything was going fine. Price seemed a little high, but the job was superb. I would definitely hire them again.

Alex came out in May (end of) to give us an estimate for fixing our front steps. We picked out materials. I requested a time in August to do the work., as we would be on vacation for a while. I gave a large downpayment and then was faxed a copy of what I signed in the proposal. Alex was friendly and professional, however, we did not get the work done i n August. The work crew was very hardworking and cleaned up after themselves nicely. My husband and I were very pleased with Alex, senior, who was very knowledgeable and skilled. He even did a small repair of our back bottom step and did not charge for it. They go above and beyond to please the customer, which these days is rare.The only thing I would do differently the next time is try to get more of an idea of exactly when he could start and have that written into the proposal, realizing that weather plays a factor.I would hire them again.

Doing business with Alex, was pure pleasure!! From the very beginning, he was extremely responsive, honest and professional! We had a few other companies come out to give estimates and Alex came up with the best overall price. He said the job would take a couple of days. Once we were ready to go, Alex and his crew were at our house by 8am, as promised, and they ended up finishing everything in one day!!! All through the day, Alex would check in with me frequently, inviting me to come out and take a look, to ensure I am happy with the way things were going. The final price was right on the nose with the estimate given - no additional charges, no surprises. We are extremely happy with the job and will hire Alex again,if the need ever arose!
