Description of Work: Demo-ed a concrete front porch step that had disintegrated, cleaned/leveled base and poured a new step. Came out great! I'd recommend him/his company to anyone interested in masonry services in a heartbeat!

Description of Work: Reviewed my design for replacing my steps with my wife and daughters special needs in mind. Tore out those old steps and 4 panels of sidewalk. Poured the new steps and sidewalk panels. |They were neat, punctual, professional and accommodating. Thew quality of their work is impressive and a few people have asked me since who did the work because of the apparent quality.

Description of Work: The project was to replace a deteriorating sidewalk and front entry stoop. Father and son business, very nice people. Priced higher than competitors but I felt their experience was probably worth the difference (several thousand, not several hundred). They started when they said they would, and went quickly. As the sidewalk was being laid (pavers) we weren't happy with the variation in widths and thought it looked inconsistent. They were quick to modify to our liking. |They brought a sample of a piece which they felt would accent the front stoop better than what we chose, and they were right. Looked great. What they failed to tell us was this new selection was porous and would need sealing. In fact it started staining very quickly after the install. They did come back and powerwash the stain out, but said the sealing wasnt their responsibility. Since it was late in the year, we had to wait until spring (May), and they did ultimately come back and seal it (no charge - so far). |They told me during negotions that the sidewalk would last 30 years (I know thats not true, but would be happy with half that), and that they would warranty how ever I wanted and I requested 5 years. I let them start before a contract was actually signed (my mistake). When it came time to sign, the 5 years I requested was not an option and I had to push to get 3 years (so much for 30 years!). | |In the spring, after the tough winter some of the pavers moved showing spaces between the "polymeric grout" they had raved about. In addition, all they used to hold in the sides are plastic forms which have lifted and are loose. I brought in another mason who said it should have been concreted in place so there is no side movement. | |I gave them a "C" because I think they were "ok". I have temporarily misplaced my copy of the contract since I think there will be issues over time, and they havent produced their copy despite several requests. Not being in that business I have to depend on the expertise of those who are. I am truthfully a little disappointed, and think they will let me down if the pavers continue to move and separate (only time will tell)

Description of Work: I contacted Alex Masonry via Angies List. Alex came, gave us an estimate of the cost and a date for when he could do the work (a month after his visit). We signed a contract for the work to be done in July. ?we will wait until he has completed the work be fore rating his work.

Description of Work: WOW!!!! What an amazing experience. Alex is professional, responsive and the quality of his work is exceptional. The repair work he did on my foundation is so "pretty" that I was blown away. I can't wait to have him estimate some work at another property that my BF owns. Even though he was a bit backed up because of the weather, he kept me informed and did and wonderful job.

Description of Work: We called for a quote for a new sidewalk at our home. Alex showed up on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. We decided to go with another contractor, but would recommend Alex highly.

Description of Work: I needed some stone step repaired - I called Alex and he came out and gave me a price. Alex advised me he would be able to do the job 'soon'. Now I know this was not a big job and didnt expect it to be a priority but he told me he would be doing the job personally. After about a week and a half I called him to find out when he would be coming out (think this was a Wednesday) - I was called back and told it would be the following Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Monday came and the work was not done and with a huge storm coming Tuesday I knew it would not be done that day either. I called Alex on Wednesday to find out when he would be coming and now told it would not be until Sunday. Im not sure how one day of bad weather puts my small job back 5 days. If these were side steps or back steps it would not be an issue, but these are my front steps which we cannot use because they are now unsafe. Seems that the only communication with Alex was if I called him otherwise I would be left guessing as to when things would be done. At this point my confidence in him doing this job was low so I advies him I would have to call someone else in. Again, I know this was a small job and not a priority for him but because it is a small job to him it was important to us. Now I have had unsafe steps for a few weeks when I could have called someone else in to do the job. I really wish that a company would just decline a job if they are not going to be able to do it when they say they can.

Description of Work: .I called Alex for a quote regarding re-grouting my chimney and some light re-grouting in the fireplace. The quote he provided for the work was $800, which was below the quotes I received from other contractors. When he began grinding out the old mortar he found that the mortar was so deteriorated that the entire chimney needed to be replaced, which would cost $1200. He demolished the existing chimney, rebuilt it using new bricks, installed new flu pipes and a cap that sloped so that water would roll off of the chimney. The work he and his team did was excellent. He was personable, conversational, took his work seriously and always kept me informed of what was happening. I greatly enjoyed working with him and will definitely be contracting him again for future work.

Description of Work: Alex Masonry fixed our chimney spalling and flashing. He was very honest about work we did not need when another contractor suggested that an entire chimney rebuild costing over $2500 would be necessary. He had some great money saving suggestions and was not only early on the day of the job, but was done quickly and efficiently.
