We highly recommend Josh & Jacob and the rest of the Independent Mechanical team! They did a great job installing central AC into our home. The work was completed on time, despite the grueling July heat they encountered in our attic. They were very neat and respectful of our property and the cost was reasonable. It was a very good experience!

They were super responsive and helpful. My A/C was not keeping up the hot/humid weather. When I called several of the other "Big Name" companies I was told that I could be put on a list to get a callback in the next week or two--another company gave me an appointment time for two weeks out AND required a credit card to hold the appointment. I called Independent Mechanical based on Angie's List reviews. I left a message and got a return call within five minutes. Josh was leaving Waterford and heading to another appointment in my area, so he stopped by within an hour of my initial phone call. They quickly checked both units and found one that had frozen up. So, after turning it off, he let me know they'd be back in the morning before 9 to complete the repair. In an area where A/C repair folks don't seem to have much urgency, I am duly impressed. All four employees were kind, knowledgeable and respectful. The unit was repaired in the morning before 9 as promised. Great service. Great company.

Called on a Saturday, got a call back in an hour or less with a scheduled arrival in 4 hours same day. Actually arrived several hours early. Troubleshooting and Aquastat replacement in just one hour. Very personable, friendly, and instructive. Would absolutely use again.

Techs came next day after calling for appointment, and earlier than the time appointed, and fixed the issues. They were very helpful when answering all my questions and were straight forward about the expenses and advising agant unnecessary work. The unit needed a new of capacitor and a full refill of refrigerant.

Answered voicemail message within minutes. Helped me troubleshoot over phone and then determined I needed a service call. It was a Sat. so I had to pay overtime rates. They solved the problem very quickly, explained everything clearly, and were customer friendly. They had to replace the condensate pump.

They also service my boiler... Very fair priced and very knowledgeable..

This company was fast, efficient and courteous. I called for help and within four hours the problem was repaired and the price was fair. It took them no time to troubleshoot the problem and fix the problem. Will use again and keep them as my A/C contractor.

I appreciate Joshua Wahl’s willingness to provide options for consideration, with pros and cons, and then make recommendations. He is quite knowledgeable and clearly understands his business very well and takes pride in his work. Each time he explained clearly what he planned to do and then he and his team did exactly that and on the day promised. The team’s workmanship was always of very high quality and they are quick to respond if any issues. From the number of jobs we had him complete it is clear that we would have him back again if there was another project! Though we hope for a good long time that it will only be annual service and maintenance!

Josh and his crew were exceptional. He was prompt in his initial appointment, and very attentive to my wants and needs, and very helpful in his suggestions as to how it could all be accomplished. He followed up that initial visit with a timely quote as promised. Since we were upgrading the existing system to a high efficiency unit, he suggested that I pursue the low cost/no cost financing available through Energize CT. Although that process took some time, it paid off in 0 percent financing for a good portion of the work that I had performed. He also passed on the point of sale rebate on the purchase of the new boiler. The work crew was always prompt and arrived at the scheduled time, and were very courteous and professional while performing the work. The installation was beautifully done, and the crew always cleaned up after themselves. I am extremely pleased with the finished product, and would highly recommend this contractor to anyone considering any type of heating or cooling work, including any type of service work on your existing equipment.

They did a great job. Punctual, tidy, reasonably priced.

We got Josh Wahls' name from another contractor who was doing electrical work at our house. He said that he didn't know Josh personally, but that he had been on a job with him and was impressed with his work. We called 3 contractors and got 3 estimates, of which Josh's was the least by a little. But this isn't what convinced us to hire him for the job. It was his professionalism and willingness to listen to us and meet our needs. When I expressed anxiety about the size of the unit he recommended ( I thought we maybe needed something larger), he took the extra step of asking his supplier to come and assess the job (measure cubic feet, etc.) and offer his opinion on what our house required to be adequately cooled. The supplier agreed with Josh and we hired Josh to do the job. He and his crew of 4 arrived when they said they would (early A.M.) and worked like dogs until the job was done, many hours later, past dark. They were all absolutely professional, hard-working and cleaned up after themselves. The a/c worked perfectly all summer and made the humid coastal summer so much more comfortable. When we had problems with water dripping from the (ceiling) vent opening this winter when the temperature dropped very low, we called Josh and he and his brother came out the next day to check it out. It was condensation in the ducts. Overall, we are happy with Josh Wahl and recommend Independent Mechanical Services.
