We were very happy with them. I think they were fair on the price. They certainly weren't real cheap but I think it was a fair price for the work. I thought it was fair. They are very easy to work with. There was actually just one guy and he was easy to work with. I would recommend him.
Description of Work: We had a deck installed.

Description of Work: Carl Sallstrom (Creative Decks) installed a beautiful Azek deck at the back of my house. The installation went flawlessly and Carl kept me informed of progress along the way. The finished deck exceeded my expectations. Carl is very personable and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to contract Carl in the future and would definitely recommend Creative Decks to anyone thinking of installing a deck.

Description of Work: Carl of Creative Decks redid our old deck. The deck is quite large about 12x70 feet. He resurfaced the deck with pressure treated decking, he shored up the structural integrity, he constructed new aluminum railings, he redid our stairs, and he put in new lattice. Carl is the sole proprietor and he does all of the work himself. He is quite the craftsman. All of his work is meticulous and he knows the best way to do things. He is very conscientious and does all of the details that make for a job that will last and make the overall project look beautiful. We couldn't be happier with the work that he did and how it turned out. I am an engineer and thus appreciated all of the extras that he did to make the deck solid and able to last longer. I have no reservations recommending Carl of Creative decks to anyone. He may not be the cheapest but you cannot find a better value considering the quality of the work.

We ABSOLUTELY recommend Creative Decks. While rebuilding our deck, we were abandoned mid-job by a non-Angie's List firm (shame on us), and were left with the just posts and joists exposed 12 feet in the air; no decking, no stairs, no railings. Carl corrected some mistakes that had been made, added needed support under the deck and worked with us to select the appropriate materials in a lovely color combination. Because of the detail he puts into his work, he built a solid deck that we're proud of. He worked all day, every day, through the hottest days of July and finished the job on time and per the quote. Cleanup was thorough. He even disposed of the materials left by the previous firm. We would contract with him again in the future, but this deck is going to last a LONG time!

Carl did a fantastic job from start to finish! When he came out to discuss the project with us, he listened carefully to what we wanted and we talked through 4 or 5 different railings before he suggested an special railing that would preserve the view from inside our home down to the brook. He worked alone, started on time, was always open and friendly, and clear about what he was doing and why. He has clearly thought about the impressions he leaves and is earnest about the value he provides. During the demolition of the gable roofed screen porch, he was clean, clean, clean. All of the nails came out and were collected. Shingles and lumber were stacked in his trailer. In 2 days it was all gone and the post holes for the deck were dug and waiting for the inspector. He built up strongly with 6x6 posts notched for the 2 2X12s for the support beam. The details were all covered with corner joints mitered and the post edges routed with OD radii. The aluminum frame glass panel railing was executed beautifully right down to the stairs coming down to the edge of the chimney and the opening of the existing railing to accommodate them. The vinyl siding and the sliding door installation were both expertly done. It was a very good experience and I have and will continue to recommend Carl for all things deck.
Description of Work: demolished & removed lower floor screen porch and roof. Designed & built upper floor deck in its place, expanded to tie in to existing deck,. Removed 3 pane window set and installed patio slider and installed siding to cover exposed wall from the gable roof. Installed under-deck ceiling to keep lower patio dry.

Carl is an excellent craftsman who keeps you involved in the process. Everything he does is well thought out with no corner cutting. He is priced fairly for the work he does, you can probably find cheaper people, but you pay for what you get. I have recommended him to many of my friends and wouldn't hesitate to do so in the future.
Description of Work: He specializes in Decks, porches etc. and i have used him several times in the last 10 years. Most recently was a project in our church building where we replaced all of our 40 year old windows with new vinyl windows, modified the exterior structure to add insulation and convert it from a circa 1963 pre-formed concrete exterior panel to vinyl siding, and added a 20x14 vestibule. Over the years i have used him to replace windows in my home, convert an exterior porch to an interior mud room, and build a 3 season cedar sun room off of my previous house. I will not hesitate to call him in the future, as a matter of fact i have a couple of jobs coming up in the next 2-3 years i will use him for without any hesitation.
