This is about my 4th experience with Thomaston (Oil) Comfort, and the second time that IMO, the tech milked the clock and now this time, with a proverbial gun to my head, tried to push me into a new system while running the clock for two hours in what should have been a minimal service call and about a $20 part. I will give Thomaston Comfort credit for fast response time, and I'm also happy with the gas to oil conversion system the installed at my residence about 15 months ago, although I am having some issues with the exhaust pipe being loose. They were out and have yet to fix it adequately. I will also give them an A for their handling of late night emergency call at my residence last week for a broken pipe. Ben, the tech who handled it is a true pro. I would love to be able to recommend Thomaston Comfort, but when half of my experiences are bad, I think it's time that both you and I find someone else to handle our HVAC needs.
Description of Work: Responded to service call made at 5:10 pm - Furnace flame works, no fan. Repair tech calls promptly, but immediately starts pitching a new system. Arrive at the house (rental property) at 6:45 and again, before even looking at the furnace, pushes me to buy a new system, that parts won't be available, etc, etc. Finally, looks at system and discovers high limit switch bad, and wires are broken. Wastes two hours, almost continuous badgering about getting a new system ($3800 for just furnace; $7800 with A/C). Finally, replaces the high limit switch - the most common repair on a gas furnace.

The installation went well- came on time and were very professionsl however sent wrong parts for heating unit and thermostat. took a month for it to arrive and be installed-- fortunately didn't need it yet. However unit was not dehumidifying as was told it would. Have on order a unit that will allow me to use just dehumidifcation-- I live in a earth bermed house and dehumidifying is more important than cooling.
