Company stole 8,000 dollars for a deck that was never built or did I get my money back. They also did a very bad job attacking the siding. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Woody was willing to give me an estimate without even going up on the roof. Too bad the estimate never arrived. He was not the only company I called and all the other companies did a thorough roof inspection before giving me an estimate. If no one answers the phone when you call, you will find their voicemail is discontinued. I was promised that estimate 3 times over 10 days, but still nothing. I even told the receptionist that if Woody does not want to do my roof, all he has to do is tell me. I was assured that was not so. This does not bode well for honesty and reliability. I will be using a different roofer.

Had a quote for a large Hardi job - big red flag was Woodie insisting that Hardie installation guide is "120+ pages" and nobody else reads it like them. You can lookup the guidelines right on Hardie's website - it's a couple pages for any product, with a few bulletins put out in addition. My rule is I catch any any sales person in a lie/exaggeration, I walk. He seems to be a very slick sales person, whereas slick is the last thing I want my siding guy to be.

The project was more involved than anyone anticipated. When the job dragged on, they could have taken shortcuts, but insisted that everything be done properly. The final result was excellent. And they stand by their work – when a problem arose a year after the job was completed, they responded immediately.

These guys are Hardie pros: The team started work in the dead of winter last year which I give them credit for. The demo went smoothly and the rewrapped the house and installed the new windows quickly so as not to freeze out my kids that were in the house during the day. The Hardie installation looks REALLY great, and I firmly believe that this is their best competency. Their team meticulously installed the siding and trim and it looks really good. Woody was our guy, and I get why a few other reviewers have beaten him up on this site. He is a character, but you have to recognize him for that, not hold it against him. He communicated very well via txt message with during the install, and my wife and I enjoyed getting to know him. Contractors that can't communicate via txt or email are dead to us (and will be extinct as demographics shift).

Awful! The other poor reviews were right on target. During my first meeting with Woody Priestly, I was annoyed with the saleman's attitude. He said he would need my husband to be part of the presentation. I explained that I was the decision maker for this project and that my husband did not want to be present. After much debate with him, I stated he would present the quote to me alone or he could forget about quoting the project. With reluctance he agreed, but on the day of the presentation he arrived at the schedule appointment about 45 min late. Normally, I would not have continued considering this firm as a viable candidate but only 2 companies in my area were installers of the Hardiplank Cement Fiber board siding. Other complaints: I asked for references of other customers. He gave me one name. When I asked for others he said he'd have to get back to me which he never did. I wanted to change my window selection from the original quote. He insisted that he would need to meet with me personally to provide the information. The first appointment he canceled last minute. The second appointment he didn't show up for. That was it! I sent an email to him and said I was no longer considering Burr for my project. On a positive note, the company I hired was wonderful and my project was a complete success. I'm so glad I didn't choose Burr!

With big projects I think you get what you pay for. If you want cheap, you are going to get shoddy work, and poor communication. Burr's original proposal did give me sticker shock, but I believe the value will accrue over time, well in excess of what I could have saved with another contractor. I can't speak to roofing (yet), but for Hardie siding, these guys are pros and did a great job.

The snow clearing went fine the first time. The second time they came, they spent very little time doing the job but with the same charge. They are extremely expensive. The quality of the work was just okay. The first time they did the work it went well. The second time they did the work it didn't go so well, and they didn't finish the job. I had called them 3 separate times to come out and finish the job and when I spoke with whoever answered the phone, she informed me that she would notify the proper people. After I didn't hear anything, I called back twice more and she seemed surprised by the fact they still hadn't been out to finish the job.

The job was delivered for the estmated price. The quality of workmanship was fair. We have had several leaks over the course of the past ten years. This may or may not be expected living in the northeast. What was unsatisfactory was the preparation for the work, the precautions taken against littering the property, and the overall cleanup. We were picking several types of nails off the ground, and out of bushes surrounding the house for several years. When I called to ask them to return to finish the cleanup, I was essentially told to have a nice life. The company contact was someone named Bob Priest. Funny how you never forget some things.

I was very nervous during the remodel, because things are always going wrong. However, they were great, because they were on time, did a great job, and there have been no problems. They took extra care with a window leak problem as well. I was very impressed with their service. They were also well under their own estimate!

Their estimators arrived exactly on time and were very courteous and professional. They suggested that they could repair the gutter most efficiently by using a section cut out of a longer gutter that had been damaged by a falling tree branch and replacing the longer section to eliminate the need for any seams. While they were checking out the roof they noticed several loose shingles, bad calking around a vent pipe and cracks in the cap on the chimney. They said that the shingles should have another 10 years in them. While their estimate was higher that I was anticipating, I knew that the quality of their materials was superior based on previous work they had done for me. The workmen showed up bright and early the following day and the work was completed without a hitch.

I used Burr Roofing on 3 occasions over the past 1 years. The first 2 experiences were excellent and based on this I hired them to reroof the front portion of my home and my garage. The 3rd experience was a disaster in terms of communication and the quality was just fair. Once the contract was signed the communication was minimal at best in terms of on site management. They did not return my phone calls or emails in a timely manner. Problems were not handled immediately. Unfortunately, I would not use them again.

Did not hire (heck, I didn't even get an estimate). UPDATE 5/18/2013: Despite the comment from Burr Roofing on 4/19/2012, the estimator/salesman was not really interested in giving me an estimate unless I was going to proceed with the job. When I selected the less decorative, lower-end trim he immediately wanted my wife there assuming she would insist on higher-end product. The fact that my infant twins were present is irrelevant. He effectively told me that he needed me to have my wife there and have the kids elsewhere if I wanted an estimate. Other construction companies had no issue with our situation and provided me with estimates.
Description of Work: Requested an estimate for residing the house. Salesman came pretty much ontime and was courteous. However, he would not give me an estimate without my wife being present. Even though I said that we wanted the estimate to budget for this job in the future, he was insistant that this job should be done this year if he gives us an estimate. From my experience with contractor salesman, this is the means for the High-Pressure sales pitch. Well, Burr Roofing and Siding, I will use another contractor for this job.

Response from BURR ROOFING SIDING WINDOWS
Industry surveys show, year in and year out, that about half of all homeowners would not hire their contractor again. We think it is dreadful that the odds of having a successful contracting experience are about the same as those of flipping a coin. Our 4P Consumer Education Process is designed to virtually eliminate that problem, and it does! The vast majority of our customers say they WOULD rehire Burr. Almost half our business is from repeat and referral customers. In fact, the Connecticut Better Business Bureau awarded us their prestigious Golden Torch Award for Consumer Education a few years ago! When we arrive at someone's home they usually have two questions. "What is it going to cost;" and, "When can we start?" The reason for this is that most potential clients simply do not know the correct questions to ask a contractor so as to assure a successful contracting experience. Without knowing the correct questions to ask, the homeowner is likely to end up as a statistic, see above. Our 4P Consumer Education Process is a two step approach. The first call is to measure the job and to develop an understanding of the homeowners wants and needs. During this initial visit we complete a thorough examination and analysis of the project and related components, for example an attic and roof deck inspection for roof projects. How else could we know if there is failed decking, or a ventilation problem, for example? Upon completion of the Measure Call we return to our shop to prepared a detailed Inspection Report and Proposal(s) custom designed to meet the individual requirements of the homeowner and the structure. A typical proposal is in the range of twenty (20) pages, full detail, full disclosure. Once completed we return to meet with the involved individuals. The reason for this is simple, if everyone who has to live with the project is not aware of what to expect, and we are not aware of what expected of us the odds of having a problem during the project increase dramatically. That is simply unacceptable. There is No Pressure at all, simply a thorough education of all of the details integral to a Successful Project. In this particular case the homeowner was fully occupied with infant twins, not having the time or ability to discuss this major project with our representative, nor was his spouse present. While the homeowner did initially schedule a 4P follow-up consultation, he called the next day to cancel. Not too sure how they could judge our 4P Educational Process as "high pressure," which it most certainly is not, when they elected not to participate. Without a full understanding of what both homeowners wanted from their siding project, "an estimate" would be meaningless due to the multiplicity of choices and other considerations. Continuing proof that some homeowners remain unwilling to take the little bit of time needed to assure a successful experience and project. Disappointing for all concerned.

They were 4 + months late performing the work required and I was continually told two more weeks Two of the 3 items that were done by them will have to be redone by another company. I was charged top dollar for horrible work. Stay away from this company. I was ignored after stating the roof vent wasn't done correctly and would have to be redone. I was ignored after submitting their survey which I'm sure won't be counted in their and quot;98% customer satisfactionand quot; claim. I'll never use them again...
Description of Work: I hired Burr Roofing and Siding maining because of the positive reports that were on Angies List at the time. I had them do some flashing, siding repairs, and to install a roof vent to start before contracting them to do more major work. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a service provider.

A representative met with me prior to doing an estimate to explain work to be done and what I should expect.. The estimate was given promptly and in person. Everything was done on the promised time line. The roofing team was very professional and worked steadily. The property was left neat and clean every time they left. The work was done very quickly, final clean-up was complete and left my yard looking as though no one had been working there at all. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional. I was especially pleased with the communication. I would definitely use them again and am recommending them to my friends and family.

Around the week of Thanksgiving we had them come out to look at a few shingles that were sliding on our roof and address a few concerns we had regarding a leak in our upstairs bathroom. VP Jeff Jeffries was the person who came over. He looked at our roof briefly, got on there and gave no indication what so ever as to what he thought. Our initial thought is that he looked as if he had little experience as an actual roofer and that the company sends out VP's to try and distinguish themselves. But he took pictures and was going to show them to someone else and get back to us so we thought we'd see what they have to say. Two weeks later, no word. I left a message for him on his office voicemail after speaking to a receptionist that said he was out on a "call". It is now the beginning of January and still no response. It seems the job was small and they didn't want to do it or Jeff rather had no idea how to proceed. Compared to the other companies I had come out they were the most baffling. Before they come over they send you a whole tree worth of brochures/packets and literature on what they do. I found it strange this day in age to have so much written literature when we have the internet, I am not sure I can properly explain the package I received. Bottom line, I think I needed a proper roofer and I feel BURR has too many areas they cover to send out an adequate person to assess our situation. In addition, the lack of response from Jeff (a VP at that) who gave us their business card is unprofessional at best.

Response from BURR ROOFING SIDING WINDOWS
98% of Burr Roofing Siding Windows’s customers would hire Burr again and recommend them to friends and family! Over the past six years, Burr customers have responded “Yes” to these two questions. In an industry that averages barely 50% customer satisfaction, Burr has achieved this rating by educating our customers about the project they are undertaking. To achieve our goal of 100% Customer Satisfaction, we follow a two call sales process. The first call is to meet the customer and diagnose the problem. The second visit is to review our proposal and educate them on all aspects of the work to be performed. We do this for all projects, even a small repair. The first visit was primarily with member's husband, who showed me the problems. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, we agreed to touch base afterwards. Later, despite an exchange of a few phone calls and messages, the follow up meeting never occurred. In my twenty-five years in this industry, the past ten as Vice President at Burr, I have sold thousands of projects of all sizes and completed dozens of training programs, earning multiple certifications for the products we offer. I proudly carry with me a binder with the over 7,400 names of our satisfied customers over the years.

Everything went well, and I was very pleased with the service. At the first meeting, they were very thorough and explained the roofing process well. They are a large company and seem to be very well-organized. The company was, also, quick to respond to any problems or concerns that I had during the roofing installation. They advertise heavily with mailings, and were great at offering references for their previous work which was very helpful. I like my roof very much and have recommended Burr Roofing to others.

We are very disappointed to learn of your experience. Our office is fully staffed from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, (3:00 PM summer Fridays) National Holidays excepted. Our phones are answered by real, live people, not machines. If your message was left after hours it is called first thing on the next business day. We also offer 24/7 Emergency Hotline service for jobs in progress. The only logical explanation for this unfortunate disconnect could be that the telephone number left was some how garbled or otherwise incorrect. Each and every lead is precious and valuable to us. We take great pride on our 98% PLUS Customer Satisfaction rating for over five (5) consecutive years and our A+ BBB rating!
