Temp Air Company

I have used Temp Air for 29 years. They installed out first central AC in 1993 when we bought our house and have serviced it ever since. Then installed our second central AC when we need one. We did have several estimates at the time and decided to stay with Temp Air both for the price and because we knew their responsiveness and reliability. I am moving out of the area which is the only reason I will not be continuing with Temp Air!

My neighbor had used Temp Air for an AC install during a renovation, and had a good experience so I called them. Paul was prompt with his visit and proposal for our full house AC system. The price was competitive and we selected them based on the recommendation from our neighbor. His technicians came and did the install over the course of a couple of weeks in September. They started up the system once all was complete in October. The weather was cold so it was difficult to ascertain the efficacy but we knew that 2 vents were loud. Paul promised to come back in the spring once the warm weather arrived to adjust the volume of those vents. We made the mistake of paying the balance due. In the spring I called, twice technicians came out and said that they would talk with Paul about what needed to be done to control the noise which sounded rather like a train (in the kitchen and living room). At last count either my husband or I had called him 18 times but he never returned our calls. We ended up paying another HVAC supplier about $5,000 to modify and finish the job which involved installing another expensive part to bleed off the air pressure in parts of the system which had been designed with too much air flow. We now have an annual contract with 20/20 Air. The price on this system went from reasonable to very expensive after the second company was paid.

Our a/c (central air) was working on and off, and then it gave in completely. I called the neighbor, and she had recommended Temp Air, because they had done some work for them that they were satisfied with. I called the company and made an appointment. The wait was about a week. On the day that the Temp Air technician was supposed to arrive it was very hot -- 95F. They never came. I called them multiple times on both phones (the company number and the number that was listed on the answering machine -- the technician's cell, as I understood), I left messages, and nobody ever bothered to call me back. I just wanted to know if someone would be coming that day (or the next day) at any point, because it was 95F outside, it was 90F inside the house, and on the next day it was supposed to be 97F. Temp Air went completely MIA. I was lucky to get a hold of another a/c company (Gary Garofola -- recommended by another neighbor), and the guy (Gary) was here in 15 minutes, and the fan (which is the part that broke) was fixed and installed by the next afternoon. If you want to wait for a week in the midst of the summer heat for the technician to never show up (and not even give you a courtesy call!), call Temp Air. I personally will be calling Gary the next time.
