Response from James Ball Chimney Cleaning
(member name), I am sorry you felt that way about the 2 cleanings we did on 10/15/2014? And got the miss information about your Oil heating flue from Petro? Did you show them the photo taken looking in the oil flue before we cleaned it that we showed you? While you may have brand new High Efficiency Heating and Hot water that does burn much cleaner and would require less cleanings in the future (NFPA Code still recommends annual inspections) keep in mind the heating chimney flue is very old and the soot from the last units had accumulated a build up and why we recommended it be cleaned, we also recommended a video scan (required as per NFPA code Level 2 inspection when replacing heating equipment, see my web page for this info www.Jamesballchimney.com), along with replacing the dryer vent which is not safe to use, which you declined (that is ok as we never push any work). The pricing you knew about before hand? Perhaps you should recheck with Petro about an old chimney needing cleaning and an affidavit for the chimney for the Greenwich Building Department as required when changing heating of hot water systems, that is if they pulled a building permit as required by the Greenwich building department? (I will check) Call and ask the Greenwich Building Department if you need the chimney “certified/affidavit” when you change your heating/hot water equipment (you can do this with out giving your name or address) and if that was done, who ever did clean it did not do a very good job, please in the future ask me if you have any questions or concerns.
