The service went wonderfully and they did a terrific job. One technician came out and completed the work in 2 days. He was polite, professional and a hard worker. He was very responsive and scheduling was easy.

Contacted Gutter Guys via Angie's List. Got a call a week later that they completely missed my email until now and would have someone out the very next day. They showed up late and did not provide an estimate on premises. My wife called twice that week for a quote and was assured it would be emailed. It's been over three weeks now, never heard back. Disappointing.

I scheduled a gutter cleaning and roof estimate for a cleaning almost 2 weeks ago with Gutter Guys. They've sent 2 people out but no work has been done and I haven't heard from them since last week. The first person was supposed to clean my gutters but said he couldn't do the job b/c we had gutter guards and it would take too much time. Okay. I can understand that, but really? Why wasn't I asked if we had guards on our gutters when I set up the appointment? If it matters that much for scheduling purposes, they should ask these questions upfront. The second person who came out was to provide an estimate. I got a call a day or two later but I didn't receive an estimate - only a "we will call you back" kind of call (which I've received a few of already). Just really strange. I realize they could be very busy now b/c it's fall; but, please let your potential customers know why there are delays and when we can expect service. I now have to start my research over again to find someone locally to do the work.

Last year, I called Gutter Guys to schedule having my gutters cleaned. It took a while for them to call back, but when the technician came out, he did a great job. This year, the same thing happened. I wish the office staff was as efficient as the technicians. The technicians are prompt and really do a fabulous job!

I had my roof redone in May 2014. The roofer cleaned up the yard nicely, but left some debris (pieces of shingles, old and new, nails, staples, pieces of plastic) in the gutters, which my husband noticed while painting our chimney a month and a half later. I considered professional gutter cleaning to save my husband a few hours of work. I opted for Gutter Guys based on the A reviews. The very polite technician spent 5?10 minutes blowing the debris out of my gutters into my yard and patio, then blew the walkways to hide all the debris under ornamental plants, blew the dead leaves onto our yard and sidewalk, then left. After spending an hour picking up pieces of asphalt, nails, staples and other debris from my grass, patio, under my plants, etc. I gave Gutter Guys a call to ask them to send someone back with a magnet, which they did -- the same technician, who then proceeded to very thoroughly check the ground, flattening my plants and and breaking my flowers in the process, and "explaining" to me that the gallon Ziploc-bag-full of debris that I picked up from my manicured grounds must have been old roof debris, not debris blown from the gutters. Last time I had my gutters cleaned professionally, the cleaning was done manually. It never occurred to me to ask HOW the gutters would be cleaned or whether they debris would be REMOVED from the property. But I did mention that the only reason for cleaning the gutters were roof debris from a roof replacement. Lesson learned. On the bright side, Alex, the owner, was very responsive, and contacted me right away to offer apologies and cancel my bill. So all things considered, I may have been the victim of a lazy technician. I hope other technicians pick up the leaves and debris that come out of the gutters.

We had a standing contract with Gutter Guys to do two annual cleanings. Before they got here to do a spring cleaning we had a downpour and because of a clogged gutter, our basement flooded. That wasn't their fault since they hadn't cleaned the gutter. We called to ask them to give us an estimate to reposition a downspout to solve that problem. They said they'd send someone who could estimate the job and clean the gutters at the same time. He came, on time, and cleaned the gutters, and my husband spent ten minutes explaining the problem we wanted them to give us an estimate for. Later that day, other workmen on the property noticed that a downspout was clogged, so they cleared that clog. I don't know if the Gutter Guy tech missed that clog or caused it. We waited for them to call later with the estimate for moving the downspout. I got a bill for the job 4 days later telling us to call the office to schedule someone to give us an estimate. I called them that day to ask why the guy who had come out couldn't give us an estimate. And I told them about the clogged downspout which they missed. I was told I needed to speak to Gary and that he would call me back before the end of the day. He didn't. That was a Friday. I called the following Monday and spoke to Gary who said he would check with the guy who had done the work about whether he could do an estimate, and when I mentioned that he had missed a clogged downspout, he said he would check that out too. Today is Thursday. I called Gary who clearly hadn't looked into either issue. He said he would send out a tech to look at "what you think your problem is" and get back to us. I told him this was my third call without a solution and he seemed a little huffy that I was miffed at having to hound them about this. I also asked him about having to pay the full price for a job that wasn't done properly. He then got super huffy and said "Why don't you just ask for what you want? Why can't you be direct?" I told him I would take $30 off their invoiced price and that I didn't want to do business with him anymore. I expect, especially with contracted suppliers, to be treated like a valued customer. And when a contractor doesn't do what they say they are going to do and then act like I'm being unusually picky, that makes me mad.

I was not here when they did the work. They came out, emailed me an estimate and I told them that was great, because the price was good. They told me a day they could come out, but due to the rain they had to push the date back, but they let me know that ahead of time. Since they did such a good job we signed up for a yearly contract with them.

He is great. I use them every spring. He is reasonably priced, and if something is loose, he will nail it down. He goes beyond just cleaning the gutters. He sent me a letter, and I just called and asked him to come and do the letters. My brother has been using him for years. He is great, he is personable, honest, he doesn't do what you don't need him to do, but he will suggest if he thinks you need to call somebody else also.

All in all they are good guys but they could be more thorough.
Description of Work: These guys clean our gutters. They clean the gutters as promised, but do not do a great job at flushing the lines or cleaning up. Surely more communication from us with this Member would have been better, but there is also that fine balance between more information and spamming. After speaking with the Member, he understands that the delay was due to the weather, he still needs the cleaning and we will provide it as soon as things warm so that it is possible to do the gutter cleaning and evaluation.

I think we have to give this one an "Incomplete".
Description of Work: Weather (i.e., snow on the roof) has made it impossible for them to do their work. They did contact me and let me know when they could get on the roof they would do the cleaning job. Subsequent opportunities to do the job were squashed by lousy weather. I ultimately decided this was jinxed and found someone else to do the job.

The Member is still waiting for service. We attempted to do the cleaning, but like the member mentioned, there was too much snow on the roof even when weather was warmer. The short of it, is that when the weather warms up we will be back again to do an excellent gutter cleaning job. We will strive for an “A” rating. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The owners of this business have no sense of responsibility to their customers. They are only interested in operating their business for their own convenience. They have more work than they can handle and should not take on new business. I contracted with Gutter Guys LLC at their full quoted price for a gutter cleaning, gutter repair and gutter installation on November 21 and provided a 50% deposit for the contract. As of the week of December 1, my job had not been scheduled so I called and spoke with Gary, one of the owners. Gary told me that they wanted to do the entire job at once and were waiting for the weather to get colder which is when they did the installation work. As of December 13 I still had not heard back and I telephoned and left a message. Gary returned that call the same day leaving a voicemail stating that they would try to work me into their schedule the following week (week of December 16) depending on the weather. Given the snow and ice, they could not do the cleaning so they had to wait and see. On December 16 I called and spoke with Gary and asked why they had delayed doing the cleaning if they knew that snow and ice would be a problem. After all, they have been in business in New England for over 20 years and should know the variability of the weather (2013 is not the first year that it has snowed in December). I told Gary that had they told me at the time of contracting with them on November 21 that they could not do the cleaning for at least 3 weeks because of backlog, I would have contracted with someone else who would be sure to get the job done quickly (i.e., before the weather would become an issue). Gary's response was to say that I did not want help and all I wanted to do was complain so he was going to cancel the contract and return my deposit with no interest in doing any work for me. Now I am left "high and dry" so to speak, with gutters full of leaves and ice & snow on my roof that will melt and cause problems to my gutters and house.
Description of Work: Contracted but failed to schedule service in a timely manner.

By all means our Member had a right to be annoyed with us. In my opinion we did not so much come up short with our job performance but more with our communication with him. In our defense, the late November part of our gutter cleaning season is indeed busy. All things considered, we are really fortunate to be so popular at that time of the year. Naturally the need to deal with high demand while satisfying our customers’ high expectations is always affected by the weather that can, and this year again did, throw us a curve ball with the below normal temperatures and snow. In most years we are able to work right through late November and December; this year we had to schedule the work, group it for highest efficiency, then we had to reschedule it, and then again reschedule it one more time. That can be a challenge when we are trying to balance keeping the promises that we have made, and striving to accommodate jobs of customers who truly have an “emergency” with water actually leaking into their homes. Of course in the complaint that the Member made, there are some comments that I am very seriously taking to heart, because our communication should have been better, and some that I disagree with; but, rather than nitpick, I will just say that we did take care of his gutter situation, and I can safely say that both sides are satisfied. His gutters were cleaned shortly after he posted his comments, and the small installation took place soon after that, when it was too cold to do other gutter work but okay to do some gutter installations. All things considered, at the end of December we had well over one thousand customers who still primarily needed gutter cleaning, and every day that we had above freezing temperatures we were catching up fast. Unfortunately when we had only 3-4 days of good weather every 2-3 weeks, we couldn’t get everyone’s gutters done at once. It takes more good weather than that. Of course with any serious gutter overflow problems, our customers should call us and impress on us that the gutters are causing a problem, and they will become a priority. However, a great majority of our customers who have gutters cleaned on a regular basis, two times in the fall if needed, should experience no problems while the gutters are frozen. Frozen means that all the liquid is solid and not flowing, and any melting snow typically melts slowly enough to allow for water filtration through the gutter debris, gutter strainers, downspouts and away from the house. It is a misnomer that dirty gutters alone which are in good condition will cause ice damming or cause the gutters to come off the house. The important thing now, is to get the gutters cleaned out before early spring, BEFORE we get the prolonged rain events that last for many days at a time, which could cause real overflows and possible damage. We are confident that before then we will have enough good weather to complete all the gutter cleanings in our schedule; and we appreciate our customers’ understanding and patience.

Commenting Member is still in our schedule, right along with hundreds of customers who also are waiting for a cleaning. Normally we work right through November, and December with no weather problems, this year is different. We will be able to take care of everyone when we get just about two weeks of above freezing weather. We got the first call from the Member requesting service on 12/2/13. Since then we only had very few days of good working weather. Good working weather means, the gutters must not be frozen solid, because all the debris, compost and any moisture is stuck in the gutters. Anyone suggesting that they clean out frozen gutters is kidding himself, and maybe even lying to customers. While we still do in some circumstances clean gutters that are semi frozen, that is most often not practical. Frozen gutters and inexperience or overzealousness on the part of a gutter cleaner will most often only result in damaged gutters. So, that’s the bad part. The Good part is that frozen gutters do not flow and cause damage, so long as they are installed in at least an okay way. When the temperature inches up above freezing in the daytime, and does not drop too much at night, we are out there cleaning. It’s not a walk in the park pulling compost and slash out of the gutters but this is our job, we do it, and are grateful for it. I understand the Members frustration with the wait, but our notes show that the person that took the Member's call initially, elaborated about the weather delays and said “we will be there within a few weeks”, the weather has to be above freezing for this work to happen. So, as I mentioned in the beginning, the Member is still in the schedule, we will call her before we do the cleaning, and one thing I can promise is the service will be done before the April showers come.

Based on our experience, I am shocked at all of the good reviews here. The net-net is that our gutters look clear but Gutter Guys broke one of the gutters and are trying to charge us an absurd amount to fix their mistake. We've spent several hours on the phone with this circus act will be filing a claim with the BBB as well. BE VERY WARY before calling Gutter Guys; if you absolutely must, be sure to inspect all of your gutters prior. Also would try to pay by credit card in case you need to dispute the work afterwards. If you like details, read on .... We hired Gutter Guys to do a fall clean-up on our gutters. We have a 2-story home with a very small 3rd story. We moved in to the home about a month prior, and luckily for us all of the gutters drained well during the initial storms. As gutters will do, filled with falling leaves. Gutter Guys came by and cleaned out ever leaf in every gutter and installed downspout protectors. They told us the gutters were "absolutely perfect" and needed no additional work. So far so good. The problem came the next night when it rained again. One of the gutters that had previously cleared backed up completely and now has zero flow. We know it's not the downspout because two gutters drain in to it and the other one is still draining fine. We called Gutter Guys to come correct the work. On two separate visits they ccouldn't find the gutter despite clear instructions, so we literally had to draw an annotated picture for them for the third visit. Not great, but tolerable as long as it got fixed to its prior (functioning) condition. The insult came on that third visit, where they now decided that the affected gutter needs to be significantly repaired. It's a four foot piece of gutter and they quoted us an absurd $780. This is a ludicrous amount to quote, particularly since they caused the issue. It has been very difficult to get a hold of this company, they have been difficult to work with (requiring multiple visits), and they broke a piece of our property and now are trying to charge us to fix it. Hard to believe they are still in business.

With all the due respect the Member is way off. Just wrong, and not familiar with everything he should. In fact I do not believe he is familiar with his house, and with the sequence of things that happened, because as far as I know, we mostly if not only spoke with the lady of the house not him. Apparently he did not even read the completely free but comprehensive estimate that we provided in our attempt to make things better. So here is our side of the story, in detail: 1. 11/12/13 Gutter Guys got a call requesting gutter cleaning service 2. 11/13/13 gutter cleaning service was done for $250. $250 because of older gutters that were hung using strap hangers (requires more diligence to work with, but nothing particularly wrong with the system), practically all the cleaning had to be done off the ladder, because only a few roof areas are “walkable”. 5 FREE ($35 value) Spring Gutter Strainers were installed as advertised, and also six additional ones for which we changed our regular price, a total cost of $292. 3. We have been in business since 1989 so we know that on November 12th leaves are still coming off the trees, and that many people will need an additional cleaning later in the season. So the whole complaint about missed leaves in the gutter is not accurate, but the owner of Gutter Guys said, no problem, “we could have missed a spot”. We will be back ASAP. 11/19/13 was the date on which the first free follow up service happened. The only reason we questioned the location of the problem, is because the problem gutter area did not have many new leaves in, when the tech followed up, but the Member supplied us with a picture showing the exact location of the problem area. That was helpful. Thank you. 11/21/13 was the 2nd follow up service, where again our technician looked inside the gutters, and confirmed that the gutters should drain better even with some new leaves, and came up with a suggested solution to a problem, an estimate to install some larger gutters with proper configuration. 4. Because the current gutter system is older and designed with economy not functionality in mind, the gutters overflowed. Gutter Guys job is to offer a solution; in this instance we suggested to replace the gutters in the problem area using larger gutters and downspouts while redesigning how the water drains (we supplied the Member with pictures and drawings of our suggestion). Here is the part of the estimate that the Member apparently never read: -“Gutter installation: Side door roof areas. Replace gutters with larger 6" K Style gutters and install Y joins to facilitate proper drainage. - Install 30 feet of 6"K style white aluminum seamless gutter using strap hangers secured to the roof with screws and 30 feet of 3x4 white aluminum downspout with two Y joint connections and extensions as necessary using cleats and screws. - Install 4 *FREE strainers. Regular price is $8 each free with gutter installation (the strainers installed during the cleaning would have to be replaced in the gutters in question because they would be too small for the new larger gutters) Larger gutters (6”K Style) provide a substantial increase in capacity (double that of 5” K Style gutters) which allows for better drainage during heavy rainstorms. Larger gutters have larger downspout outlets and downspouts that along with our downspout strainers allow gutters to drain better between cleanings.” The cost for this was $780.00 -In the same estimate, we also gave a price of $280 to do optional repairs/ corrections using old materials (no warranty). Anyone can see that we were NOT talking about 4 feet of gutter work for $780. 5. Our technician did not break anything. We break things regularly but very infrequently, and in our company culture everyone realizes that any breakage must be reported to the office and to the customer. There is nothing physical or otherwise to suggest that our tech broke anything on this job, other than this frivolous negative posting. From the comments the Member made in his very negative and uninformed complaint I strongly feel that he is still learning about his house, and that is understandable. However, given the time of the year, the Member got the service, very fast; price was fair and reasonable; and we offered suggestions for corrections not just because the gutters were just older, but because after the cleaning, it became obvious that more than just gutter dirt was the issue. Our estimate is still valid. In fact we now are in a slower time of the year, and because of that we are now offering a 14% discount on jobs like the one that we proposed, so long as the work is done before 3/31/14. We understand that the Member probably shoul shop around to see what services are available in the area and for how much, but also invite him back to work with us.

We had an arranged time for the estimate on the afternoon of August 22. I was outside in my yard doing some work while waiting for the person to do the estimate. They did try calling my cell just before the time, but (1) I did not have it on me and (2) did not see the voicemails (2 of them) until much later in the evening. I had some type of delay in my service showing my voicemails, which also contributed to this. Understanding the mix up, I called the morning of August 23 to reschedule and reiterate I did not need to be there, I was just looking for an estimate. While I was on the phone with one of the people, I could hear the person who was coming the prior day in the background (they were talking about what happened with my estimate and the mix up). This person sounded upset I did not answer my phone and upset he would have to come back out. I communicated I did not need to be there, giving them more flexibility in their scheduling. I then heard him say (paraphrased), "Well then I'll go out there for the estimate and get it in the mail to him...this is such a total waste of time". I then told the person I was talking to I did not appreciate this tone nor did I appreciate the other person?s attitude and to forget the whole thing. On the plus side, the person I spoke with was apologetic, saying the attitude was not intentional. Apparently the Gutter Guys have plenty of work so unless you are an existing customer, perhaps you want to steer clear of them.

We has used them in the past so, we knew they would do a good job and they did. They came when they said they would, cleaned the gutters (didn't try to pressure us into additional services that they perform). The gutters are clean and they left no mess! I would use them again in the future.

excellent. They took care of a drain leak that caused dripping in all the wrong places. My cellar doesn't get flooded anymore in a big down pour.

He was recommended to me before and he just comes to my house all the time. He doesn’t charge much and this is the only time I have had my gutters done. I think he goes above and beyond. I think he’s honest and he fixed things that he didn’t need to fix for free. It was like in the service. I think the price he charged me was pretty standard. He charges my sister-in-law lesser but that’s because she’s been using him for longer than me, and his prices hasn’t gone up for her. So I think his charges are different for newer people but that is fine, because I was really so pleased.

My gutters were cleaned just before a torrential rain started (in fact the technician was still finishing up) and none of the gutters overflowed. The tech was prompt and very professional. I highly recommend the company.

I have a 25 x 25 feet two storey main building with a one storey attached two car garage and a one storey 40 feet extension. For the past 35 years I blew the leaves off the rooofs and used a water hose to clean the down spouts. No problems ever! Starting to have creaking bones at 86 I felt the small, two storey main buiding could use the services of a younger man.The other gutters I cleaned myself. End of last November ( no more leaves falling) the gutter guy came and blew the leaves off the roof. I did not see how he cleaned the down spouts - if he cleaned them at all. Certainly not with pressured water. After the next rain/snow fell I noticed the gutters overflowing. I called the Stamford office and was told that someone would come. Nobody came. About five weeks ago I received a Gutter Guy contract for signature. I returned the unsigned contract with a note stating the above. I was called by someone in the Stamford office who said that a Gutter Guy would come to check if my statements are correct and - if true would clean the gutters. That was three weeks ago. I am still waiting!!!

Response from Gutter Guys LLC
We did perform a partial gutter cleaning for this member on 11/29/12 (for $100, not $120) and we have absolutely no record of having received a complaint regarding the service until 6 months later when he returned the proposal for on-going maintenance with the following note: "The downspouts were not cleaned; they are still clogged up." Immediately the owner of the company called the member to discuss and offered to send the technician back as a courtesy. A week and half later our Scheduling Dept called him to schedule the meetup and the member told him to forget it. He claimed at that time to have called us in March but again we have no record of this either via our own systems OR the Angies List system. We would have been happy to come back immediately after the service in the fall if the member had simply communicated with us. We were still willing to come back a full 6 months later even though it was quite likely that the gutters were now filled with new debris but the member cancelled the service call. Lastly, as a standard practice, we never clean downspouts & gutters by using a pressurized hose unless the homeowner specifically requests this or the tech is unable to clear the downspouts using other methods. After 20+ years and hundreds of thousands of gutter cleanings, our experience indicates that using water to clean the gutters has the potential to leave a huge mess on windows, siding, manicured landscaping, etc. However, had the member insisted on this method at the time, the tech would have complied.
