They were extremely professional & respectful of the property & had the job done in approx. 2 & 1/2 hours. They also installed a leak guard so that if there is another leak and water hits the pan on the bottom of the heater, it will automatically shut off. The entire price was $2,250 which included everything; installation, the heater, the leak guard, the removal of the old unit. It took me about 2-3 wks to get an itemized bill for my insurance purposes..

They did a really good job. The price on the heat pump and air handler seems to be fair. Maybe I could have done a little better on the price but I liked the product they were selling. They matched the system; heat pump and air handler. They did a really good job installing it.

Even though I had them do extensive work for me before this issue came up (and they did a good job at that time) they would not come out to do the current repair for a couple of days. This was unacceptable as the very elderly resident was unable to cope with the lack of air conditioning during a very hot spell -- I called another company that came that same day to do the repair instead.

Terrible experience. This company provided shocking levels of customer care for a customer than only a few yeas earlier had handed them a check for $9000. I used them initially 4 years ago to install my Mitsubishi AC, and at that point I would have had no problem giving them a 3 or 4 star rating. Installation wasn't a perfect experience thought, as after completing the main installation with 90% of the work done, it took me several calls to get them to come and finish the job; applying the finishing touches such as caulking around the units and hiding exterior cables which was part of the job as agreed in the contract. However, the latest experience has left me disgusted at the lack of care following a complete failure of my Mitsubishi AC units in the middle of summer, leaving me to conclude that they really only care about the main sale and not about customer care and support afterwards. They came out to check the system and after 2 hours told me that they couldn't figure out what the problem was and needed to call Mitsubishi Tech Support so would need to come back another day when they were open. Well, I was surprised at this as their website claims they are a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, and since they installed them, you'd expect they would understand most issues when it comes to system failure. I agreed to have them come back and waited for their call to arrange this... and waited... and waited... I eventually called them and made it clear that I was a little annoyed they didn't seem to care about following up and that I was charged a substantial fee for them to tell me they don't know how to fix the machines they installed. The woman on the phone was VERY rude and seemed to want to get into an argument with me - I just asked her to please send somebody to fix the issue as promised so we can get this over. Somebody came by again that afternoon and worked outside although i didn't hear much work going on or see much of them. 3 hours later he knocked on the door and said he's been on hold with Mitsubishi Tech Support waiting for them to pick up and the issue is still not fixed. WOW! How can these guys claim to be experts with this system yet need to wait for step-by-step tutorial over the phone on troubleshooting. I called Mitsubishi myself and got through in 25 mins - they explained that the on-site technician should just press 1 if he can't get through and they will get a call back from a Mitsubishi technician who will explain how to fix the issue or where to get the info from so that they can return at a more suitable time armed with the required knowledge to fix the issue - Mitsubishi seemed amazed that somebody would sit on hold for 3 hours and that there was no sense to this. To be honest, the guy here was very polite but if this is standard procedure at Controlled Temperatures then they are wasting their time and the customers' time and money. It makes no sense. Mitsubishi also told me that it sound as though the issue was a fairly common 'Communication Error' and that the fix should be fairly straightforward - Controlled Temperatures should have access to the solution and they could have been directed to them if only they had requested a call back from Mitsubishi. I was promised a call from Controlled Temperatures to come back and fix this once and for all once they found the solution.. I've waited over 2 weeks in the middle of summer for them to follow up and fix the issue, so today I gave up and called Tri Tech Mechanics who were round within 2 hours and already discovered the issue and have ordered the required parts to fix it. Oh, and Mitsubishi informed me that Controlled Temperatures are not actually on their list of recognized contractors in the area!

Our furnace broke on a Saturday morning and I called them first because of the great reviews on this site. Their website said they have 24 hour emergency service. The recorded message on the phone said that they would call me back within 24 hours. I was fine with that since I'm not a service contract customer. I left my name and number very clearly. Sadly, they never called back. I had to call another company.

Can't say enough good things about Jon, his brother and the entire Controlled Temperatures family. They installed my new hot / cold air unit and did a magnificent job. Priced fairly compaired to others in the market. But will provide top notch service and follow up. Good and honest people in general. Being serious when I say they don't "seem" to care they actually do care. No stress and no fuss they will get the job done and make sure you are 100% happy with their work. I've used them for two projects to date and after the first one I didn't even price out the second. Why? Because I know I'm in good hands with Jon and his team. Companies like this deserve business and I'll always look to them in the future and happily refer people over. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone in the market for HVAC work. Thanks for a superb service guys! Pete

Controlled Temperature responded quickly despite blizzard conditions outside. Was very impressed by Andre. He was punctual and contacted me a couple of times confirming the time of his arrival. Once onsite, he diagnosed the cause of the problem (a faulty capacitor, causing the fan motor to burn out), replaced the capacitor, and removed the motor within 25 minutes. He then took the motor to a supply store, returning with a new re-wired motor in 1.5 hours, re-installed the motor and checked everything out in 15 minutes. Amazing. Very professional and knowledgeable guy.

The bid was about $10,000. They were very friendly. It was a good price but we decided to go with another provider. We had a piece missing from our old air conditioner and they were able to schedule a guy to come out here to look. I actually got the piece fixed before they needed to come so they gave us an estimate. They were nice guys. They were real responsive. Their bid is what we are paying the contractor to do. They were very competitive and they were definitely not overcharging us. It was just an email. We might use them in the future.

I went with these guys because they installed the ACs in the complex and figured they would be knowledgeable. Boy was I wrong. They don't really support the brand of AC and aren't upfront about costs of service. Anyway, I suspected a coolant leak and they really didn't give me any options for service. It seemed more like medical triage and they hinted they didn't guarantee their work. Not a red flag but a major banner in the sky. It didn't give me piece of mind, but on a hot day all I wanted was the AC to function.
Description of Work: My central AC had a freon leak. They refilled and ran a sealant. About a month later the AC stopped working and I saw the tech left a thermometer puncturing a hose and wondered if it had caused another leak. It was deemed not to be the case and boom, got invoiced for a service call to my dismay. This review covers an experience that lasted two service calls

Our appointment window was from 9-12noon. The technician arrived at 11:15am. The issue was resolved within 30 minutes, but we were still charged for a full hour which is why I graded the price as B. It would be better if the charge was per half hour, not per hour. I would use the company again.

I called Controlled Temperatures to inquire about a heat pump replacement. I was set up with a free consultation for the sales representative to come to my house and give me a price. The sales representative (Jon) was extremely knowledgeable and took his time in explaining all of my options. He got me a written proposall by the end of that day. It took me a few days to finally make the decision to go ahead with the job. Once I signed the contract the job began two days later. The installers showed up promptly at 8:00 am as Jon told me they would. The installers were very neat and courteous. They went over the operation of they system with me as well. Once the job was complete, Jon came back out to make sure I knew how everything worked and was satisfied with the job. I was extremely pleased with the enitre experience from start to finish, I have dealt with other contractors in the past and this by far went the best. My heat pump is working great!

Overall, for our house in Stamford and our condo in Stamford, they have been attentive from the beginning. I really like the owner Paul and his team are all helpful and courteous. they are there when you need them in an emergency too! Would highly recommend this company. Very professional. As for pricing, not sure if it's a bit more than others. However, you get what you pay for. We have a service contract with them, and I wouldn't want to have one with a company i don't trust. I trust them.
Description of Work: We had our entire duct work replaced. We moved the A/C unit to the basement, installed all new vents in floors. Added a Hepa filter system and humidifier to A/C system. They serviced unit outside and inside. Hooked up the forced air system to our gas furnace. Major overhall. They also installed a new heat pump in our condo at Chesterfield in Stamford.

Eventually, the company did get the a/c working, but wanted its money upfront before we could test it in hot weather. After ignoring our complaints, an owner finally responded and said he just “didn’t understand what our problem was.” It seemed to him a routine, even minor job, at $800. Trane’s corporate slogan is “Nothing Stops a Trane.” But in this case, the Trane Comfort Specialist left the customer feeling he’d been a helpless price victim left on the tracks.
Description of Work: Controlled Temperatures, Inc., is a Trane heating and air conditioning dealer in Stamford, CT. It is a company driven by a strict C.O.D. (cash on delivery) policy. Neither its 100 per cent mark-up on Trane parts, nor its hourly rates are customer friendly. The company charges $125 for the first hour of work, $100 an hour thereafter and $175 an hour for emergencies. A technician diagnosed the air conditioning problem as the fan in the first half hour, but somehow the bill grew to nearly $300 without any actual repairs. We learned later that another local company charges a flat $89 for diagnosis. And Controlled Temperatures charges the higher $125 first-hour rate at each stage of the job. The company requires the C.O.D payment each time, too, not when the work is completed, as with most companies. No itemization with Controlled Temperatures invoices, no mailed bill, just a lump sum total demanded on the spot. The company charged $384 for a Trane part. But Trane won’t disclose the price of its parts to customers, and the Trane dealers like Controlled Temperatures aren’t telling, either. That’s because Trane dealers routinely mark up parts more than 100 per cent, the Trane representative in Connecticut admitted reluctantly. We felt there were safety issues with Controlled Temperatures, too. The furnace panels were strewn on the floor for five days with exposed wires dangling out, even though the furnace door opens directly on outside weather including rain.

3 men showed up on time on the scheduled day. All totaled, the work took about 7-8 hours. The work was performed as discussed with my saleman, Stan, who also helped on the job.All 3 men were courteous, professional and neat & the job site was cleaned up nicely after the job had been done. So far, after limited usage and need, I am very satisfied. The units are extremely quiet.
Description of Work: Installed 2 Mitsubishi Split-Ductless A/C units w/heat pump and outdoor condenser unit. All electric work was included. I have an old house with radiators and plaster walls, so regaular central a/c was going to be difficult and expensive.I liked the idea of the greater efficiency of the ductless system too.

The owner of the company came over to my condo with the service personnel who were installing the equipment. They were very careful when unpacking the heat pump, however I watched over everything that they did with an eagle's eye. The fitting of the duct work inside the closet where the air handler went was very tight, though it seems that the guy who was fabricating the ductwork did a good job. Unfortunately the owner didn't estimate properly, and the air Effects cleaner I wanted to get was unable to fit into the space. In addition, although Trane makes it easy to get at the air filters in the air handler, mine was fit into such a small closet (the only choice) that it's difficult to replace the air filter without bending it. I have subsequently used Controlled Temperatures for my Fall and Spring servicing of the heat pump and air handler, subsumed under a yearly service contract. For the past two years though, every season it seems as if people have left the company, and I am now worried about the stability of the staff and about their expertise. I am currently researching other HVAC contractors to take over my maintenance contract.
