Description of Work: My transmission failed (would not go into reverse) and had to be completely rebuilt. I paid $2,400 for the work done, and asked for a two year extended warranty that added another $300 to the tab. The manager/owner showed me the chewed up parts of my original transmission and said the fluid smelt "burnt" and had enough metal shavings in it to build another transmission. They finished on time and my car has been running fine, the manager told me to bring it back in a couple of weeks so he could see how it is running. I was impressed with their pride in workmanship.

A-1 did a great job but the job definitely ended up more expensive than the estimate that they provided. They did provide a range depending on the work needed to be done, but it was above the high end. That would give me reservations about having them to work for us again without getting other estimates and negotiating their price more. They had great professionalism, were prompt and gave me updates through out the repair which I appreicated.
Description of Work: Our 2005 Honda Accord's transmission blew so needed to be rebuilt.

My 2005 had about 90k miles on it and was starting to run rough in certain conditions. Having had transmission problem with other cars in the past, we thought that the transmission was on the way out and wanted to see what we might be able to do to prevent it. I called Boulevard and was able to swing by with my car the next day for a quick inspection (no charge). When I did, the proprietor (very friendly but forget his name) came out and quickly put a code reader on the car. He saw that there were engine misfire codes which could be causing the stuttering we had felt and possibly its was not the transmission after all. He recommended checking the electrical system, probably changing the ignition wires, and doing a transmission flush which was needed based on the mileage. We went ahead with this and did a general service with an appointment a day or two later. It worked out great and the car runs great now. I was very pleased with the bill considering it could have been much more serious and he could have charged me for much more for taking a look at the transmission. The shop is in a bit of an odd spot in town, but overall its not too bad of a neighborhood. The service was done in one day, but I had to leave my car overnight before I could pick it up (early pickup/drop-off around 7:30AM) and he made sure to lock it inside the shop.
