My inquiry on the list was answered almost immediately by John. He phoned to set up an appt. to view the issues and give an estimate. I decided to hire him straight away since the lack of electricity in the garage and laundry room was something that needed to be fixed quickly (I didn't take other bids from other contractors). Since the problem was a bit ambiguous - why is the power not working? - John had to spend a few minutes troubleshooting and discovered several issues. He identified a dangerous wiring situation with an outdoor floodlight, as well as several outlets in the garage that were not up to code (they weren't GFC outlets). It turned out not to be one specific issue, but several smaller issues that resulted in a short in the system. John was here for 6 hours and accomplished a lot in that time. John is professional, polite, and has a great work ethic. He was very fair in his rates and let me know immediately when something was out of scope. In the end, the job was a little more than his initial bid, however, there were lots of hidden issues with the wiring and outlets that he could not have foreseen. I am confident I received quality work at a fair price and will hire JEC Electric again for any future electrical work needed in my 60+ year old house. I recommend JEC Electric and am just so happy with John's work and knowing my house is a little safer now because of his diligence in finding and correcting problems.
