Dave and AJ really know their stuff! In five hours our old bow window was gone and our new bay window was installed. They took care to insure that all measurements were correct before the actual install and made adjustments. Because we have a raised ranch, the new bow window was just too big and cumbersome to install from the exterior scaffolding. So these guys carried that baby into the house, through the kitchen and dining room, and into the living room to perform the install. Throughout the process (on one of the hottest days of the summer!), they kept us informed as to progress and next steps. Once complete, they cleaned up both inside and outside. From our initial contact with Dawn, our first meeting with Joe D, our measurement meeting with the owner, and our final contact with Dave and AJ we were very happy. Everything was done on time with great professionalism.

We love the windows and door. The workers were some what neat and cleaned up for the most part. After a few weeks we had an energy company come in to do work they pointed out that most of the windows needed to be caulked on the inside. There was spaces and on three of the windows there were very big gaps, around the new doors there were also gaps that should have been caulked. We allowed the energy people to do the the caulking . I called Tonnotti;s and at the time I was very upset and felt this work should have been done by the crew. If we did not have the energy service come we would not have realized that it should have been done. Two other family members have Harvey windows and were installed by two different contractors and both houses have all their windows caulked. Being we trusted Tonnottis we are very disappoint in there finishing work . After a few weeks of phone tag the sales person finally contacted me and was rude and said they would have fixed it, really it should have been done at the install . We felt he was questioning me . He did want to send someone to the house to fix the windows really they were already done. He claimed they would have done it my point was yes you might have sent some one (which meant another day off from work) but the job should not have been left the way it was . We spent a lot of money for energy efficiency windows and they were not installed correctly. The company's side of the story will be they would have followed up on the caulking and yes they were willing to come back. After they left a message to set up a date they also wanted all the energy company's info which I kind of understand but at the point I emailed the sales person and said don't worry about coming to the house we are all set. He never followed up and that was my last contact with the company. If the sales person was more compassionate and understanding we might have recommend them.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows in the house and back and front door. We were not crazy about are sales person. When he came in for the estimate he tried to be funny and said our kitchen need to be improved. it was very insulting. One of the main reasons we went with this company was it had free financing, also he was very pushy. Looking back we wished wee kept looking.

Total Job Cost $14,000 We are sorry to hear The Christiano’s felt they had a negative experience. JC Tonnotti strives for excellence as evidenced by the positive reviews we have received. We were not made aware they were displeased with the sales representative and we will frequently let our customers know about the different services we offer including a cabinet re-facing division. The Christiano’s state they love the windows and the door however, they stated they were displeased with the caulking on the windows after an energy audit. All our clients are walked through an inspection at the time of completion and instructed on the operation of the windows and the installation they signed off on everything with the installers. We would have appreciated the opportunity to speak with the audit company or to at least have pictures of what they felt the issue was. Apparently, she had them complete everything and called us after the fact. She states our representative did not get back to her however; we have emails and messages that were left trying to make contact. When contact was made she wanted money back for the windows however would provide no evidence to back it up. JC Tonnotti takes pride in our work and we value each and every customer!

Jason the sales guy came and explained everything thoroughly on how the windows are made, how they work and everything that was included in the price trim, warranty etc. Then after a week or so a gentleman came out and measured all the windows to make sure the dimensions were correct. Approx. 3 -4 weeks later the secretary couldn't reach me by phone but emailed me directly the date they wished to install and they remembered I need certain days when my household already had the day off. On 7/15 2 workers came to replace the windows. They were great guys very professional and quick. It took one day for installation and my apologies to the one worker who was stung several times by bees that day under my one window area but they completed the job just in time for the rain to start. I would highly recommend this company to everyone and I already have. The entire company is very professional and did a great job. When it's time to replace my siding I will be calling them again. Thank you all for making this an easy experience for a first time home buyer the entire staff was fantastic!!!

Painting: Yankee Painting was sent to do the job. The owner Jim came out and said he would first send his son Mike to power wash the deck and I actually had him wash the whole building. That went well. Then Mike showed up to do the painting, admitting to me that he had NEVER painted anything before. I immediately was not happy as I felt I was paying for a professional and I was given an amateur. When he was "done" it looked like an amateur job. It was a mess. Missed spots, entire railings not painted, paint all over my vinyl siding, it was awful. After I complained, Jim the owner was sent out to look at it and he proclaimed it fine!!! He had told me he was 73 years old and I have to think that his eyes are failing. Fortunately, a fellow named Jimmy was sent to paint the front door and he was a real professional. Did a great job and when I told him about the deck he asked to see it right away. He agreed that it was a TERRIBLE job and called the company. Jimmy was out the next day and repainted my deck. But had he not called, neither JC Tonnotti nor Yankee Painting were going to do anything because the nearly blind Jim had said it was fine. Roofing at my house: They stripped and re-roofed the area over the bonus room where it had leaked last year. They recommended a larger gutter as well and sent another company to install that. This cost a total of $5300. Result? Exactly the same leak problem this year. I could have saved $5300 and gotten the same result. Now I have to try to find someone that actually knows what they are doing. We are still cleaning up from the mess with from water leaking in. Roofing at my office: I had told them it needed flashing. You could see there was no flashing. These arrogant jerks stripped the roof and replaced shingles added water barriers...all things that I am sure did not need doing but NEVER PUT UP FLASHING!!! Result: same leaks as we had before. Cost? $2710. Another waste of money. Their billing system is also incredibly confusing as they give you one estimate for all the work combined, but then each contractor collects his individual portion. I could not keep it straight with all the different people asking for money. And if you don't pay them "RIGHT NOW" they bang on your door and yell at you like you are a deadbeat. (Jim from Yankee Painting especially). Wow! JC Tonnotti is good for installing windows. They seem to know that. Anything else, don't waste your money.
Description of Work: I asked JC Tonnoti & Co. to paint my deck, my front door and surrounding woodwork. I also asked them to fix a problem over my bonus room where we had ice dams the previous winter and had water leak into the bonus room and our carpeted guest room. In addition, I pointed out another leak problem at my office (another building) There I pointed out that it needed flashing where the roof met the building as there was none.

Dear (removed member name); Thank you for taking the time to review our company. We regret that the project did not progress as we had all hoped. Regarding the painting; we apologize that you were not satisfied with the original painting. We did send someone back to complete the project to your satisfaction. The roof repair was done. Occasionally a repair does not satisfy the problem with doing a complete new roof. This is explained when the project is booked. Our billing is done with Quick Books. Since you had multiple jobs at more than one location Quick Books shows the total balance due. We had to create manual invoices for you. We are a small business that strives for !00% complete satisfaction. As a business owner yourself I am confident that you understand sometimes a situation is not resolvable with an individual to their complete satisfaction which is the case with you. We regret you feel as though you would not use us again since all work was completed and we showed up as promised. Sincerely, Faith Tonnotti

Overall I would say it was an OK experience. The roofing and gutters went real well. One widow was not ordered and came in late. Two windows were ordered in the wrong color, but we agreed to a price reduction. One door was ordered wrong and we also agreed to a price reduction. The colors of the trim were not what we expected and don't match the exterior of the windows as much as I would have liked. The quality of the windows, doors, siding is very good (Harvey windows). One thing I was disappointed with was the installation of the doors. They put zero insulation around the door jam and the first winter there was a breeze coming in around the trim which I had to take off the molding and put in insulation. The workers themselves were very professional and cleaned up the yard well. As with any large contract for services, get it in writing.

They were very professional--met all dates/appointments, did a quality job installing quality windows. They explained how it would look slightly different from the 60 year old windows I had. They also fixed an older Harvey window I had which they had not installed. In addition, they provided a new screen to replace one with a hole in it (for a small fee); again, they had not installed the original window. I was very happy with the service and would use them again.

The sales person was good, giving us a great demo of the insulating properties of his product (Harvey). But he was a little too high-pressure for us: he offered us a better price if we said yes that day, which we were not willing to do. He said he would hold the price for three days and would call us back; but he never called. We never received a written proposal. I visited the show room, which is very small in an old house that also serves as the office, and which did not have an accessible sample of the kind of windows we were looking for. I also decided that I did not want Harvey windows, which get average reviews on the web. The decision became a no-brainer when I found that for about the same money we could get fiberglass windows which are much stronger than vinyl, from a larger provider with a lovely showroom. In short, we felt that this purchase decision had two parts: choosing a manufacturer and choosing an installer. We wanted to maximize quality and minimize risk on both parts. We judged quality of manufacturer by the material, by the history and size of the manufacturer's company, and by reviews of the product on the web. We judged quality of installer by the size of the company, the length of time in business, whether their own employees installed the windows, and their investment in a nice showroom.
Description of Work: We did not hire this provider.

The salesman came in and told me my Bay window was falling out. He took something & had it roll down the window sill . . He told me that window & construction would cost $4500, he said the whole window frame & header needed to be replaced. I asked if he could just put in new windows, I was told that would cost me $6000. I was told Harvey windows was having a sale & it ended on Monday this was Thursday; if I signed I would get 20% off. .Nothing was done on paper all by the computer. When I asked him about my three day right to cancel. He said all I needed to do was e-mail him. I signed the contract & he asked me what sold me on the deal was it his good looks, I told him no it was the windows. I had two other contractors come out and they both said nothing about the window falling out. When I asked them they said this is a 50 year old house you have a little settling but by no means will these windows fall out they even said they would guarantee it. I just bought the house 8 months ago and what the salesman didn't know was I had a top notch home inspector inspect the house & the first thing he would have noticed was a bay window falling out. I I e-mailed him on & canceled on Friday, he called me and when I told him I felt he lied to me he said, with all his years of experience the bay window would fall out (I reminded him, he was 33 years old . I told him I still wanted to cancel he them became angry & started to yell telling me that they had already done a lot of work (I asked what work and he said the guy came out to measure) . I told him I was canceling & that I had stop payment on my check. Which he had me make out to cash (it was in the contract so I didn't worry) the conversation was ending. He told me he had already cashed the check & I told him it had not cleared my account. I did stop payment on two check to this company. The one I gave the first salesman & the one I gave to the man measuring the windows for other work I was going to have them do Almost two weeks went by and I had not received my checks so I called the company & the woman in the office said she could not find my file and that she would call me the next day. She did not call so I called her & I was told the checks were in the mail & I should have them today. I then receive a call from one salesman telling me he shredded my check I asked him why he didn't mail it back. His response was I didn't ask for him to. The other salesman texted me your checks have been destroyed the orders were never processed due to the expedited measures & cancelation. I was told by my bank he did cash the first check but because I put the stop payment, he never received the money. I will never use this company & I tell others what they did. Peggy

Dear [member name removed], Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience with our company. We appreciate your feedback. Please accept our apologies for the way the salesman and measurer conducted business. Our delay in getting back to you is because they are no longer with our company. We would like to firstly address your concerns regarding our recommendation for full replacement of your bay window instead of just replacing the windows without a whole new frame. If we had just replaced the windows you would still have a frame that was old and not level, a new Bow window system would include a cable support system ensuring that your window would be level and attractive. The salesman was rightly concerned about the additional weight of double pane sashes in a window that by your own admission was not level and was leaning down away from the house. Our policy is to have the customer make the check out to JC Tonnotti Window Company not to cash. In the event that the customer chooses to pay cash we gratefully accept and process the payment as we would any other form of payment. If a customer decides within 3 days that they would like to cancel their contract we either shred the checks or return the deposit check. If they have paid the deposit in cash we are most likely to return that with our company check. We do find it most unusual that you would make a check payable to cash then request more work when the measurer came out and again give a deposit only to cancel within an hour of his visit. We have never had a customer operate quite like this before. Since your request was made to the original sales representative he shredded your checks and instructed our office that you had canceled the contract we never got your contract or checks since it happened over a weekend. We regret that you cancelled your contract and did not experience the full quality products and installation of JC Tonnotti Window Company. We also would have welcomed the opportunity to discuss this with you and had you shared it with Joe Tonnotti, the owner of the company, I am confident he would have made every effort to make sure you were taken care of and become another one of our satisfied customers. Sincerely, Trish Gibson Office Manager

The Roof looks great. The workers were great. I had some water spots on the ceiling in my living room near the window months after the new roof was installed. I called and the response was that it was due to ice damming. I did get the roofer to come out and inspect it. He said everything looked fine. He put the gutter back up tight to the house. I have not had the ceiling cut open to find the source of the leak but it was only in one spot. Customer service was excellent and I received a prompt response. If I eventually find out it is an issue with the roof, then my opinion may change. The windows are great. They really look good and they cut down on energy costs. I have no complaints. I would recommend this company. They have great financing, 18 months, same as cash, hard to beat that.

the estimate was done several months ago, as the window had to be custom made, and then the scheduling was a bit of a challenge with the weather, and vacations, etc. All through the process, the communications were excellent. I always knew what the status was, and had good communication about when they would arrive, delivering the window, etc. The requirements for the window were quite stringent, as we are part of an association that has very clear rules on how the windows must look, and match exactly the prior unit. So the price was higher for this than a normal install and quote. The day of the install, the team arrived, and was able to remove the old and replace the new within 4 hours. really excellent job. very neat work, and replaced all of the trim both interior and exterior so the window and all of the casing was new. i was impressed when the new window fit exactly in the old opening. very precise.

At the scheduled appointment, the salesman arrived late, and then immediately started to ask to reschedule till my husband could be there. When I said no let's go ahead with the information, he proceeded to 'not sell me the window'. He made no effort. He did answer my questions but did not provide me any of the window specs I wanted. He gave me a verbal quote and then left without giving me a hard copy quote. The company did call afterward and seemed to know that there was an issue with how the salesman handled the appointment and they tried to reschedule to 'resell' me their product. I declined - first impressions say everything.
Description of Work: Wanted a quote for window installation. They originally did not want to come to my home without my husband present. It wasn't possible for him to be there. I convinced the office that I was educated enough to handle it and make the decision as I managed our household budget. They agreed and finally scheduled an appointment.

Dear [member name removed]: We wanted to respond to your thoughts and concerns listed on Angie’s List because we appreciate your feedback and call to our company. We are sorry you did not get the attention you should have. It is not indicative of our service for our sales associate to arrive late with no apology and is certainly not acceptable. Regarding your concerns about wanting both parties present, it is not that the company views someone as not educated or incapable of making decisions however, it is our experience that normally unless both parties are present to see the product and fully answer any questions we end up back at the residence again doing the same presentation because something was not addressed or fully answered. Since it is nearing Fall and the busy season is upon us with price increases and production time on the products we felt it would be better to reset the appointment. Your experience and feedback is extremely important to us and we will take it under careful consideration. We do apologize for our tardiness as we strive to be punctual and respectful.

The installers arrived on time and got right to work removing the old windows. These windows were very difficult to remove however they managed to do it professionally. After installing the new windows, I was instructed on how to tilt to clean them and was given a bit of other helpful advice. Prior to leaving the crew cleaned and vacuumed every speck of debris. I have recommended Tonnotti & Co. to many of my neighbors the Mattabasset condominiums in Meriden.

We hired JC Tonnotti as one of two approved window installers for our condo complex. We signed with them as the cost shown represents a significant savings over the original quote we received. We're new homeowners and through news stories and anecdotes shared by friends who own homes, we were prepared to be taken advantage of at every turn (not specific to Tonnotti, but by anyone involved in home renovation). To be fair, there were some bumps in the ordering/scheduling process. The windows were delayed at the factory but we weren't informed, and instead of being ready for the end of May as we hoped, they were ready just in time for out of town guests to arrive for a week, in mid-June. We settled on July 2, but when I called to confirm the week before, I was told we weren't on the schedule. We ended up scheduling for July 19, a month and a half behind when we expected to get the windows, and a full month later than the original date we were given. Once the crew showed up, however, everything ran like clockwork. The work was completed in one day. The crew was great, especially the crew leader, Dave. Very friendly, professional, willing to pause with whatever he was doing to answer a question. Our home inspection (we bought the condo in February) revealed that there might be some water damage in the corners of two windows, but once the old ones were out he took the time to show me that the framing was fine. The windows in our complex have exterior trim around them that's made up of boards covered in aluminum; while they made the house weathertight on the first day, Dave and another crew member had to return on Saturday and spend the entire day cutting and forming the aluminum cladding. They paid attention to the smallest detail, and even re-mounted a plant hanger they had to remove from the exterior trim when they began the job. The new windows replaced 40-year-old single-pane, metal-frame windows that were original to the unit. Prior to replacement, our living room temperature would climb to 81-82 degrees even with the central air set on 75. The a/c just couldn't keep up. Since the new windows have been in, the entire house is much more comfortable, and the a/c keeps the entire place at 75 all the time. While the process could have been smoother at the outset, we're very happy with the end result and will consider contacting JC Tonnotti again next year about replacing the two exterior steel doors and storm doors on our unit, and possibly a few years down the road for a quote on finishing our basement.

Had to wait about a month and half to get windows installed. Installation went well.Had to pick up a few scraps around the site. After the installation one of the windows doesn't stay all the way up when opened. Quite expensive for just 4 windows installed. 10-18-13 I spoke with Dawn who helped me find the video to fix the window that wouldn't stay up and it looks like a easy fix!

Hi (deleted member name), I'm trying to reach out to you. The window that does not stay up is a simple fix. It sounds like it's out of the blancer system. We have a video on our website that I'd be happy to have you view. It takes about 2 mintues to fix. There are other solutions that are just as easy if you would call our office. I'm having a hard time reaching you because you are posting here with a different name and address than we have on our files. Hoping to hear from you soon, Trish Office Manager

They did do an excellent job. They clean up everything very nicely. The only thing tht I didn't like is they didn't complete the job in consecutive days. They started then came back 3 days later to finish first two windows, the last window was complete in one day. The workers and the office staff were very good to work with and I would recommend them.
