The experience was horrible. I made the contract and dates around a week when I was to be away on vacation, and not have to deal with no kitchen counters. This was and quot;no problemand quot;. The day of the scheduled installation, a day that I had taken off from work to be home for the countertops to arrive, around 9:30 am I decided to call them to find out just when they were coming. I had found it odd that there had been no call a day or so prior to schedule the time. I was told they and quot;would not be installing todayand quot; and were and quot;very sorry but they did not have enough material for my joband quot;. I then realized that a week + had passed and they hadn't fabricated my countertops yet. Cathi promised to call me back that day to let me know when the slab was arriving in their shop so she could schedule delivery. I received no call. I called the next day, and Cathi appologized again but said the slab should arrive the next day, and they should be able to install the day after that. She would call the next day to setup the install time. No call again. We then began entering a game of leaving messages for her and not getting responses unless she happened to answer the phone, which, more times than not didn't happen. Perhaps they have caller ID. Fast forward a week later when she finally left a message claiming install would be on a Monday between 3 and 5 PM. Excited we were. But disappointment set in around 4:45 PM when nobody had arrived or called. Finally, a strongly worded voicemail to her prompted a return call that same evening. Now past shop hours, she called back to say they were and quot;on their wayand quot; and should be there in and quot;10 minutesand quot;. They did arrive finally, at 5:45 PM to begin installing my countertop. They were clearly rushing, and as a result there is a seam in the granite which is more noticeable than it should be, the sink was mounted slightly out of square to the opening, and they forgot to attach my dishwasher to the countertop - now something I need to deal with since I refuse to call them back. I went with Gothic on the mixed recommendation of a colleague who had issues with them, albeit with fittment not scheduling and responsiveness. Gothic needs to learn to communicate honestly with customers and clients. Tell me there will be a week's delay and I will accept that and move on, not wondering each day if my phone call will be returned.
Description of Work: I contracted with Gothic to fabricate a custom granite countertop for my kitchen. This included 2 sections of countertop, an undermount sink, and some detail work/edging on the stone itself.
