Owner came at the appointed time to review my request. He was very helpful with suggestions to keep the work affordable and workable as well. He suggested sod in the area that sloped down so a heavy rain would not wash away new seed, but used seed where it could be used on flat areas. In the area that has been a drainage problem, he created a trench and used stone to redirect water in a safe direction. The planting area became overrun with grass and weeds, so he removed them and edged the entire area before spreading Sweet Peat as a mulch. This was a challenging topography, but when he was done it looked great. This work was done by hand, using no machinery to damage adjacent areas. Another job well done by Enchanted Landscaping.
Description of Work: Seeded and installed sod where excavation was done to replace well supply piping. Designed and installed gravel drainage to prevent damage from runoff. Cleared weeds from planting area that became overgrown.

This job entailed coordinating for a surprise Mother's Day project for my daughter. My son in law made arrangements for my daughter to be away while the good people of Enchanted Landscaping completed this project. It took much prep time and plant selection ( without my daughters knowledge) and they were completely ok with a very limited time frame to complete their work. Not only did they complete the work on time, they went beyond the area they were responsible for. Much more than I ever expected. We were all thrilled with the look and my daughter had a super surprise Mothers Day gift when she returned. From arrival to clean-up in about 4 hours. I have used Enchanted Landscaping before with similar results and will be using them again in the future. From responding to my initial call to finishing my projects, we felt comfortable with their professionalism. By mixing our ideas with ideas and recommendations of their own, we were completely satisfied with our landscaping project. You will not find a more competent or harder working team than Enchanted Landscaping.
Description of Work: Weeded flowerbeds, planted Roses, Boxwoods, and Rhoda's, and spread Sweet Peat over several planting areas.

Enchanted Landscaping is a husband and wife team with one additional employee. We had them out to give us an estimate, and the wife, Adriana, came out and told us that the work we needed would take approximately one day. Our next meeting with them, the husband, Jonathan, who does all the physical work said he believed the work would take two days- so already we have a discrepancy. The work that we asked them to complete was to extend some of our existing beds, edge the existing beds, mulch all of the beds and also create a fairly sizable new bed for a new garden that we were planning to plant ourselves. I walked the property with them to determine how much mulch we would need. During this time, they were trying to convince us to buy a product other than mulch, something called sweet peet. I told them I would likely consider sweet peet for the new garden next year once it was all planted but that I wanted mulch everywhere else, I was also clear to tell them that their estimate for mulch should not include the new garden because after the sod was ripped up by them, I had planned to amend the soil before fall planting, therefore it would make no sense to lay mulch down there. At this time, we didn't even have exact dimensions for the new garden. When the mulch arrived, it was a very large amount in the middle of my driveway. The first day of work, Jonathan accomplished a lot. He had one other employee with him. The second day, we had given him specifications for the new garden and expected to come home and find the sod ripped up and all of the mulch placed throughout the property. Instead, we found half of the mulch still in the middle of our driveway and no new garden bed created. We saw that our credit card was charged for a second full day of work for two people. We could not imagine what they did to earn a full day of work when they didn't do the biggest project during their time at our house on day two. Not to mention they had estimated double the amount of mulch that we would need- which is now an expense on us that we cannot recoup. I also noticed that he cut down to the ground all of the daffodils I had throughout the property. Anyone who knows anything about daffodils knows you don't cut them back because if you do, especially before the stalks have turned brown and withered, they will not come back. So at this point, we have wasted hundreds of dollars on Mulch that will not get used and I am going to have to replace all of my spring bulbs. We called Adriana and Jonathan about this and Adriana said that they would work something out about the mulch and that the new garden could be created in 2 hours by Jonathan himself. A few days later, Jonathan came and said they it would actually take two people half a day to create that garden bed- again a discrepancy. He went on to say that the reason we have as much leftover mulch as we did was because they added the new garden into the estimate. I reminded him that I was standing there with him while he took measurements for mulch and I expressly stated that I was not placing mulch in a new garden before I place plants in it- it would be a waste of time an money for me. He started to get angry. I also asked him about the bulbs that he cut back. He clenched his fists and grunted in a most unprofessional way and said that he has a certificate in landscaping and I was welcome to come to his house to see it. He said that bulbs like daffodils divide over the years and need to be dug up and divided and that a lot of people don't like to dig them up in the fall and divide them. I said that I do regularly divide my daffodils for that is how I can double my plants for free- but because of him I will now have to buy all new bulbs because he cut mine down ensuring they will not grow and flower next spring. He agreed to come back in the next few days to figure out where to put the mulch. He said he was not sure when he could come back which is ridiculous- he should have been able to give us a date and time. I said that the mulch could not stay in the middle of our driveway indefinitely since we were having guests for the Fourth of July. He came back on July 1st, put some of the mulch around the property and dragged about two hundred dollars of mulch on my tarp into the woods surrounding our house rendering the remainder of the mulch useless and the tarp inaccessible. Overall, our experience with this husband and wife team was unprofessional to say the least. Adriana says one thing and Jonathan says another. They over promise and under deliver and the end result has cost me more out of pocket expenses in mulch and new bulbs. And last of all they never completed the main job they were hired for- creating the new garden bed. I would stay as far away as possible from this unprofessional, inefficient company.

Enchanted Landscaping puts our customers first and makes every effort to make them happy and satisfied. Everything completed on this job was done according to the customers first specifications. A walk through was performed with both the husband and wife of the property. Detailed notes were taken of the work to be done and measurements were performed in front of the customers. The work to be completed was to extend existing beds, install mulch and create a new flower garden. This was gone over with the customers explaining our concerns, rates and material costs. Enchanted Landscaping uses Sweet Peet as the mulch of choice because it is "green" and better for their property. (sweetpeet.com "All natural, organic ingredients buffers the effects of acid rain. Sweet Peet encourages beneficial earthworms and replenishes microbes that are often destroyed by harsh chemicals and acid rain") The customers did not want to use this product so a price per yard of dyed mulch was given to them. Upon telling the customers how much the mulch was going to cost, they decided to order their own mulch and have it delivered to their property. They were in charge of ordering mulch and getting it delivered (Enchanted Landscaping had nothing to do with this). Every customer that Enchanted Landscaping works for is told the same thing: "This is how much we charge, it is by the hour, if you are not satisfied with how we are working, please tell us you would no longer like our services, pay us for the hours already worked and we will stop. We want to make you happy." After the walk through with the customers, Enchanted Landscaping was then contacted by each member of the home on separate occasions. One wanted the new garden to be done a certain way and size and the other would call and want the new garden to be done a different way and a different size. Too many people were included in the decision making process and miscommunication tends to occur when this happens. Enchanted Landscaping made every effort possible to make sure the job was what the customer wanted. The total the customers paid was not $2,000 but $1,395. Enchanted Landscaping gets paid at the end of everyday once that day’s work has been completed. Enchanted Landscaping explains to customers that their credit card will be charged at the end of every work day. When the walk through occurred, both customers were present and measurements for mulch were taken. At no time did the customer correct us and say they would not like mulch to be placed in that area. The new garden area was calculated into the mulch quantity. After multiple phone calls from both customers, the confusion became great. They did not want the mulch to go on the new flower bed and there was mulch left over. The customers wanted Enchanted Landscaping to get rid of the mulch and reimburse them for it. Enchanted Landscaping did not take any money from the customers for the mulch, they ordered it themselves. If Enchanted Landscaping had taken the customers money for the mulch and delivered it, then Enchanted Landscaping would have removed the mulch and given them the appropriate money back for the bulk mulch. Enchanted Landscaping went to the customer’s house and went over exactly what happened with the miscommunication and apologized and wanted to make it right. A compromise was reached when the customers told Enchanted Landscaping to spread more mulch in areas already mulched and then place the rest of the mulch in the woods for use later in the season. During this meeting one of the customers raised their voice and started screaming in front of their young children. Enchanted Landscaping does not tolerate behavior like this, so Enchanted Landscaping kindly told them that the mulch would be taken care of, to have a nice day and left. The next day Enchanted Landscaping went to the customer’s house (before their party) and spread more mulch on areas that were in need of more mulch. The mulch was on a tarp in the driveway. So, the mulch was removed from the tarp, the tarp placed in the woods on the property and the excess mulch was moved back onto the tarp. Placing a tarp underneath the mulch ensures that all of the mulch will be able to be used when it is needed. Placing the mulch on the ground renders the bottom of the mulch un-useable. The driveway was then swept off and left neat. The work completed was documented with pictures of before and after and looked beautiful. As a landscape company, Enchanted Landscaping does research and has taken classes on proper pruning procedures. (almanac.com “Deadhead Daffodil plants as flower fade and allow leaves to remain for at least 6 weeks. After they bloom in the Spring allow the plants to grow until they turn yellow.) Daffodils flower in the Spring and have already given their energy to the bulb by July, so cutting the leaves will not harm the flower. The energy is in the bulb for the next year and no bulbs will be lost. Enchanted Landscaping has made every effort possible to make these customers happy and went above and beyond to make it right. Enchanted Landscaping likes to handle issues in a professional matter, not a screaming match in front of young children. Enchanted Landscaping does not tolerate yelling or verbal abuse from customers or employees. A very professional atmosphere is maintained on every job site. Enchanted Landscaping takes pride in every job that they do and work for customers who are kind, courteous and understanding.
