Cathy did an extensive inspection of the home that we were under contract to purchase. I walked with her through the inspection. She was very professional, explaining the areas of concern and taking time to make sure I understood issues that were identified.

Sherwood Inspection Services, LLC was extremely responsive and scheduled an inspection quickly. For the inspection, Kyle showed up early, was very thorough, and answered all of the questions I had, while pointing out each of the things he was documenting so I understood what the issues were. He also sent me the full report on the same day. Highly recommended.

As a first time homebuyer, I appreciated all that my inspector, Marc, did to make sure I knew his thoughts and suggestions every step of the way. We went through every room and the outside together. The inspection was thorough and still explained to me in a way I could understand. It has helped me better prepare for my closing and helped me prioritize the upgrades I want and the ones I need. It is true that they do not just inspect, Marc really worked to educate me. He made sure I only did the inspections that were most likely to have results I would use and explained why I would or wouldn't need the various ones SIS offers. After this experience, I plan to use SIS again when I purchase my next home.

When you are purchasing a new home, you want someone who is knowledgeable when conducting a home inspection. Chris Benny from Sherwood Inspection Services was amazing. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and thorough but he also took the time to explain his findings. I was given tips and suggestions for items to improve on the home as well as some of the critical items. The visual inspection was thorough and gave me great peace of mind in finalizing my decision with the home purchase. I would definitely choose them again if I needed another home inspection.

The inspection performed by Sherwood Inspection Services on August 1, 2018 was both dissatisfying and uncomfortable. Prior to their inspection, I had already had a licensed contractor out to inspect the home for mold after viewing mold on the bedroom ceiling during a walk-through. This contractor determined the cause was actively leaking water lines coming off the A/C air handler in the attic, soaking the insulation and the sheet-rock. I made Sherwood's inspector aware prior to their inspection and the need for them to confirm the condition so it could be included in their report. The home was a ranch style with a cut-out access cover in the hallway. Unfortunately, the inspector Sherwood Inspection sent, Marc, a somewhat portly gentleman, was not willing to enter the attic space to verify the condition. He was only willing to stand on the ladder and look around the attic space. He stated that since there was no plywood flooring on which to walk, he was not required to enter the attic and that he had satisfied the CT Standards of Practice for home inspection. The mold inspector entered the attic and determined the water leak was about 6 feet from the cut-out opening. It took him no more than 3 minutes. It was both uncomfortable and difficult to listen to an inspector attempt to justify why he could not do what another inspector had done 2 days earlier. I stated that the same standards of practice applied to the other company as well. This frustrated Marc so he left the home and called a supervisor. Marc returned about 10 minutes later and passed me his phone so I could speak with this manager, a gent named Matthew. He explained it wasn't really a standards of practice issue but actually a company policy not to enter an attic that doesn't have flooring due to two incidents where their inspectors had mishaps and caused damage to the ceiling below. So now I'm hearing two different "reasons". Ultimately, we were able to reach agreement where they were willing to include language in their report that another contractor had observed leaks even though they did not witness the condition. Nevertheless, the whole situation was uncomfortable. Sherwood Inspection is not cheap. they charge a premium for their services. Customers should rightfully expect beyond the bare minimum. My take-away going forward is better service would be provided by an owner-operator style company where the owner would not be restricted by the policies of a multi-inspector company or the luck of the draw regarding who they send.

I would definitely hire Sherwood again. They were easy to book, even though it's a busy time of year for home buying and inspections, and they were easy to communicate with in the time leading up to the inspections. Our inspector was professional and very competent. She really committed to seeing all parts of the properties available to her. The inspection report was delivered to us promptly afterward, and was easy to read and understand (typed, with pictures, and very thorough).

Cathy was awesome, super knowledgeable, punctual and professional. She took her time answered every ridiculous question we threw at her and had our results the next day! Hopefully we never ever move again, but if we ever have to, I know who would do the inspection. Was more expensive because we had the mold test done too

Roger Jensen was professional, and well organized. He answered all my questions and made the inspection a knowledgeable experience. He was very thorough finding even the smallest issues like a cracked tub tile, and a leaky kitchen drain. Also found major thing like an eves with borer bee holes and hand rails not up to code. All in all I am very satisfied and would strongly suggest using Sherwood Inspection.

Everything was exceptional. The service was promot and thorough. The price was just right as well. Would use again.

SIS is a great company to use for your home inspection. Roger came out to do our inspection, he was extremely thorough, answered all our questions and gave us information on things to maintenance / up keep. This was our first time going through a home inspection an I would recommend SIS and Roger to friends and family he was a great guy!

Inspector failed to give me the water report which contained way higher than normal lead levels. He had the lab send tye report which was to the wrong email address. I never paid the lad to give me a report. Sherwood should have personally report this to me.

Kathy was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, detail oriented, answered all our questions, and was very thorough. I would highly recommend her services to any new home buyer. She was amazing!!

He found many things wrong with house, which it was great for us because we were able to get out of home purchase contract with out loosing to much money. the home have or had asbestos and mayor termite damage.

Nick and his Intern, Jeremy, were absolutely wonderful to work with. They were detailed and thorough, the entire inspection took nearly 3 hours! Every nook and cranny was inspected, and they were forthright with recommended repairs. They were very receptive to being followed and asked questions, and not only took the time to explain them, but to show what items would need repair. I would definitely work with this company, and this inspector, again! They were prompt, professional and affordable. They even cared about the smallest details of service, and brought drinks and snacks for everyone. As a company, they were very fast to find a time to work with us - they were available the day after I called them. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

He showed up late and was in a hurry. He listed the roof pitch as too steep (on a ranch) and couldn't get up in the attic where a hatch was. It turns out there were major roof issues, I just paid 3800$ for bat removal including 18 gallons of bat poop so they were there for a long time. Water system had to be replaced for $8000 and the roof was not fully reattached when a remodel was done. This was a rush job and he focused mostly on wowing the realtor with a sign and free water/snacks. This was a while back but it cost me so much I had to write this. He did refund the water test he never sent for 275$ (i got the test later from the same source for 150$.

For my own peace of mind, I wanted a second opinion about the structural integrity of my old home. I sent a message through Angie's List and got a response almost immediately; this is important to me because I hate having to cold-call a business, and I really appreciate when I can have the first contact be via email or messaging. Dave was available to come out the same day. He did a thorough walk-through of my basement and gave me advice on the structure. He pointed out to me how the house was built, where there were changes made, etc. He explained everything clearly and left me feeling confident about the structure.

Eric did a great job with our inspection. He was prompt, very thorough and knowledgeable. As he reviewed each system in the house, he took the time to explain what he was discovering in detail. At the end of the day, I feel like I learned a lot about building codes.
