A siding contractor who was going to be here next suggested a change to the way my roofer might handle a couple of details, and Dean contacted him at my request to discuss that and gave me a reasonable price for the change, I appreciated that. Nice work, neat job, just what you want. If I outlive the roof and Dzen is still here, I won't hesitate to call again.

I had to have my skylight custom ordered, so Dean got the custom order and it fits great. The price was reasonable. I am pretty happy with them. The people were very knowledgeable. They were keen on making sure they got the job done correctly.

+ -1 moreDean, the owner, was easy to work with. He communicated promptly and clearly. He was able to do this relatively small job on short notice, using a crew of four. The only minus was that the cleanup was slightly less than perfect. Some small pieces of debris were left behind.
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, and re-shingled the gambrel-roof apartment over our garage. Installed a roof vent.

+ 0 moreEverything went well. The roof was such a mess before; someone had tried to torch a roof product designed for a metal substrate onto our wooden sheathing. They pried up the existing sheathing, replaced it and covered it with a two membrane roofing system designed for the purpose. They also replaced the flashing attaching the new roof to the old house. Overall, I was pleased with the roof. They subcontracted the gutters out to another company and I was a little less pleased. The gutters look great, but they didn't do a great job of cleaning up the jobsite; I found giant nails in my lawn for a week, and somebody left their cup of coffee on my doorstep. Slightly annoying but, like I said, the gutters look great and they do their job.
Description of Work: Replaced roof on addition to house, replaced gutters throughout.

+ 0 moreThere were stalls in the whole process, but I found out that the stalling was on the part of the skylight company. Dzen was an advocate for me with the company. They were responsive and stand behind their work.
Description of Work: Dzen put a new roof on about 6 years ago, and put new skylights in about 7 years ago. I had a leak develop in one skylight this year. Dzen worked with me to determine the cause and dealt with a stubborn skylight vendor for replacement. Dzen replaced the skylight under warranty.

+ 0 moreThe only unfortunate thing that happened was that I asked them not to put my dumpster on my septic field. It was a subcontractor who did that, so maybe he didn't relay the message to him, but I had to file a claim about it. Everything else was perfect. He came when he said and finished the work on time. He gave me a nice contract and filled it to the T. I would highly recommend him, but make it much clearer how important it is to not place the dumpster on my septic field.
Description of Work: He re-roofed my stable, taking everything off as it had been punctured by a tree limb from a hurricane. He matched the roofing material with my other roof. He also put gutters on the front of my house as they were also destroyed by the storm.

When a minor issue came up, Dean and his team came out fixed the issue and was done timely. Would definitely recommend and would call Dzen again for future work

+ -1 moreThey arrived Thursday morning and started taking off the old roof.Spent the whole day.They where there till sat,we had three roofs and some boards that needed repair so it took a little longer then most. They had to leave the dumpster there till Monday but came and got it on Monday ,just like they promised.
Description of Work: We where very happy with everything about this company.Phone calls were answered in a timely manner.They arrived on time cleaned up everything and where friendly.We would highly recommend them to our friends and family. Let me tell you they where not our first choice ,we called two or three company's .They were the only ones to call us back and get right on it. Our roof is beautiful as far as roofs go,and hopefully will last us for many years to come...

+ -1 moreWe called a number of companies for estimates for a new roof. Dzen Roofing came in on the higher end(not highest) but was well worth it! Dean came out to give an estimate right away and promptly returned all my phone calls. When the time came to schedule the work, Dean adjusted his schedule to meet our needs as we were having a new chimney installed before the roofing work started. Once the work was scheduled, the crew came promptly each day and worked around some bad weather that came through, never leaving anything unfinished at the end of the day. The job site was cleaned daily, ladders taken down; without seeing the work done, you would hardley know they had been there. They completed the work on time. Dean came to inspect and do additional clean up after the job was completed and answered all my question. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Removal of old roofing materials (2 layers on house, 1 layer on garage), installation new roof with high quality materials. Some repair work also completed.

+ -1 morePer square foot, it was pretty expensive but within the price Mr. Pinto and I agreed to before the job. I have had peace of mind over the years. Many years in, this repair/replace work has stood the test of time. During recent demolition work I have confirmed that the repair is holding up. Very little debris, and no large pieces ever found in the yard after the work was done. One small caveat: an existing aluminum siding trim piece that isn't visible from inside or outside the house wasn't re-installed well enough to hold on. As it isn't flashing and doesn't appear to be needed to shed water away from the structure, I haven't called back to have this remedied. I would give "A minus" but don't want to drag the rating to a "B".
Description of Work: Replace/Repair membrane fiberglass/asphalt roll material in low-slope small section of roof.

He offered options to do the chimney flashing repair the best way (replacing flashing) or if I needed to save money a shorter term re-caulking repair. It took a couple weeks to get the estimate back and for them to come do the job, but it wasn't an emergency situation, so it wasn't a big deal. The work appears to have been done very well, and the bill matched the original estimate.
Description of Work: They fixed a leak near the chimney by reflashing and replacing shingles. They also installed two vents for bathroom fans that previously exhausted into the attic.

Description of Work: DZEN replaced a leaking rubber membrane roof that had been improperly installed several years ago by another roofing company. The removed the old membrane and correctly installed new flashing behind the siding. They used high grade materials and explained what they were doing and why when I asked. I was very pleased with the results and would recommend them.

+ -1 moreFrom the time of the request to the actual work being completed we experienced tropical storm Irene. All along Dzen communicated on any time frame changes that would be needed for emergency roof repair. The estimate matched the final cost. Any replacement of plywood that may be needed was included in the estimate as possible increase in cost that may be needed. Changes to original estimate were requested based upon adding the roof from an addition that was not originally quoted. When we made the change to have the whole roof re-shingled the quote was already completed as they we thinking ahead. Delivery of the material was on schedule with the work being completed the next day after delivery. The roof work was completed in one day. Clean up was excellent, no debris was left behind. All permits were taken care of by Dzen. They also handled the dumpster delivery and removal. Overall we are very satisfied from the quote to delivery to work and clean up.
Description of Work: Roof replaced on 21 year old house.

Description of Work: I had 4 roofing companies come out to look at our roof after a a wind storm in April of 2007 pulled off a few shingles. We own a large 3 family home with very very steep roofing sections. Dean from Dzen was the only company/contractor who said he could patch it up rather than replace the entire roof. No one else even suggested it be fixed, just replaced. We knew the roof was old, but we knew it had a few years left! Not only did he patch the missing shingles, but he pointed out a problem with our gutters that just needed gutter seal. His patchwork lasted until just a few weeks ago! That's 4+ years! Thanks to Hurricane Irene, we knew that a new roof now, was our only option. We asked Dean to come back and give us an estimate on a new roof this time. He takes his time and really looks things over explaining every step of the way. He's easy to talk to and no question is to silly to be asked. As soon as my loan is approved, my contract will be signed with Dzen Residential Roofing, LLC
