The pricing is a little high and they always mess up the book keeping.

Description of Work: Andrews oil is great. Prices are good, they put a credit card on file for you and always keep you topped off so you don't even think about it. The service they provide for furnace cleaning and repair is also reasonable and reliable. I moved recently from a natural gas home to oil and was really concerned about dealing with oil but Andrews makes it easy. Also they always answer the phone if you have a question.

Andrews Oil and Gas came recommended to me by my neighbor who has done an oil to gas conversion prior to my purchase of my home. I contacted them and met the President Sam at my house. After showing him the current equipment and needs of the home (both heating demand and the hot water demand from the various fixtures, showers, tubs) and discussing if I had any brand preference (I mentioned Weil-McLain since I had a Weil-McLain boiler at my old home which was trouble free while I lived there) he emailed me 2 options. The first was for a Weil McLain high efficiency boiler, 60 gallon indirect water heater, removal of all old equipment, running all gas lines as previously described, and replacing other necessary parts (zone valves, expansion tank, etc). I subsequently emailed him to ask about a third boiler I read about and he added that as a third option. The quotes were very clear and showed the price prior to instant rebates, and after mail in rebates as well as the estimated monthly payments using the EnergizeCT heating loan. Please note the price listed in the review is the price prior to the instant rebates and mail in rebates. The instant rebates were applied directly to the price we paid and that knocked the price down by $850. Additionally we have mail in rebates on the way for a total of $800 ($500 from gas company $300 from Weil-McLain). After getting quotes from two other companies we decided to go with Andrews and the Weil-McLain high efficiency boiler based on his advice and our own preference over a Bosch unit. In the interim we had a no heat situation on a weekend with our old oil boiler and a technician from Andrews was able to come out and quickly diagnose and resolve the problem for a very reasonable rate. The gas line wasn't put in until 11/30 by CNG's contractors but prior to that Sam met at my home with the CNG sales rep to determine a meter location that was acceptable by us, CNG, and Andrews. Once the line was put in, we got a copy of the permit in the mail before the work began and shortly before Christmas the piping was installed. The crew was very good and were professional and efficient. They setup the time slot with the town inspector for the pressure check and all went well. After Christmas the old boiler was disconnected and the new equipment installed. Just as before the crew worked well and were very careful not to track dirt into the carpeting on our basement floor. They coordinated with CNG to have the meter installed that day so I was only without heat for a few hours while the boiler was being installed. Because the ground was very wet and muddy they moved the old boiler to the far corner of the basement for removal when they returned the following week to remove the oil tank. They also walked me through the basics of the new system and what to do if we ever smelled gas. The final bit of work was removal of the oil tank and old boiler and water tank. In the few days in between I had noticed a minor vibration of one of the pipes and they added a pipe hanger to rectify that. They pumped the oil out of the tank and safely and cleanly removed the tank and old equipment. They also added some additional piping to direct the pressure relief valves into my basement's otherwise unused sump pit. The system is running great after about a month now with just one minor issue (a buzzing zone valve) for which I contacted them today. They could have had someone come today but I was at work so someone will be coming in the morning to take a look. All in all I'm very happy with them. The entire team did a great job and Sam was very helpful both in guiding us to the right equipment and working with Stan from CNG on getting the correct meter location. Very pleased with the work and so glad my neighbor gave us the recommendation! Updated-The small issue with the zone valve was quickly and easily handled. After coming out Friday morning to inspect I was unable to get the problem to replicate but had taken a video on my phone showing the noise. The technician didn't have the part on the truck but we setup a time to for him to come back this morning (next business day) and he replaced the control head on the zone valve. That should take care of the issue but it's great to know if something else pops up Andrews stands by their install with such quick support.
Description of Work: Worked with Gas Company to determine meter location, ran gas lines for new boiler/water heater and necessary parts, blank tee for future gas fireplace, ran gas line to outdoor grill, ran gas line for range, removed old boiler, water heater, oil tank, and other related items.

When I bought my home a few years ago I chose Andrews Oil because the prior owner used Andrews -- they were familiar with the house and serviced the furnace. For over a year I had Andrews deliver oil and service the furnace. This is a family owned business and I like to support the "local" business. Their prices were fair and competitive and they did a great job. But when the oil prices in the market increased significantly over a year ago I wanted to cap the price and Andrews did not offer that at that time. Reluctantly I went with another company in E. Hartford -- their service and pricing was beyond terrible. As soon as my one year contract was up with the other company, I immediately called Andrews Oil. I made a mistake by using another company but I learned a valuable lesson. I have no contract with Andrews but their pricing is competitive and fair, and their service is excellent - they aim to please and accommodate. I need a company I can trust. I plan to stay with Andrews, and in the summer have them service my furnace again.
Description of Work: Andrews Oil delivered oil to my home. The pricing reflects the delivery of about 153.4 gallons of home heating oil.

They did a great job from start to finish. Besides needing to have our gas furnace and central air conditioning unit replaced, we wanted to finally have our family room fixed so it would properly heat in the winter and cool in the summer. We have lived for 20 years having to use electric space heaters in the family room only to have the room still be too cold. They spent quite a bit of time with me going over the cause of the problem and the potential solutions. The final solution we chose was to install new duct work into the family room. Since the family room does not have a cellar below it, it required Andrews Oil to jack hammer a path through the existing cellar wall to below the family room to access the family room from below ( what a job that was). The result is that our family room is heated and cooled perfectly (Why did we ever wait so long to correct the problem?). The detail of their installation was outstanding: from giving us the correct HVAC equipment for our needs, replacing existing wiring, installing a new thermostat, to insulating new ductwork, to cleaning up after the job was finished. Get an estimate from Andrews Oil, you won't be disapointed. Kenny DemersWest Hartford CT

I would recommend them. They are always very prompt and professional. They are well-trained. Everything is always put back together the way it is supposed to be. I like that they clean up after themselves, which is a big thing. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I have an annual service and maintenance plan with Andrews Oil Co. Inc. for my oil furnace. They come out and clean it and make sure that it is operating correctly, which is what they did the last time around.

THEY HAVE CLEANED MY FURNACE FOR MANY YEARS. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THAT THEY DO. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL. I WOULD NOT KEEP HIRING THEM EVERY YEAR OTHERWISE.
Description of Work: THEY CHECK TO MAKE SURE MY FURNACE IS RUNNING CORRECTLY. THEN THEY ALSO CLEAN IT.
