The first ?litmus test? I apply to any new contractor that I request a quote from is the time between call request and response. If they do not care enough to return call for a prospective job, what can I expect once they have my down payment and are in the ?drivers? seat? Illness, vacation, work load etc do not excuse a contractor from the common courtesy of a return call. This contractor never extended that gesture.

Since Nelson has not returned several calls, I'd say the experience has been bad. I left calls on his cell phone and also the business phone which I'm presumming is NEVER checked, since he responded initially to his cell phone to come to the house to speak to us. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he's too busy to do the work. But AT LEAST a phone call to tell us that would have been appropriate. This contractor was recommended by our lighting supply store, Valley Lighting, where we have purchased thousands of dollars of lighting supplies. This would have brought Nelson Electric at a minimum, $6,000 in work since we plan to insall a generator as well as the other work needed. But now I will tell Valley Lighting about our awful experience.
Description of Work: Called Nelson Electric after initial electrician failed to return calls. Nelson came and looked at the areas where we needed work (thermostat transformer in Master Bath) and took a light fixture from the yard we needed replaced. We agreed that he would call the supplier where our Techmar thermostat was purchased by our plumber and get the technician to meet him at our house so we could get to the bottom of the issue of our thermostat having a blank screen (no read-out). I called Nelson with the number of the plumbing supply store twice and received NO response AT ALL. After three calls and leaving messages which were NOT returned, we have asked for our light fixture back and are trying another electrician on Angies List. Hopefully we'll have better luck!

They came when they said they would come. They were very professional. It was a good experience which is not always true with electricians. When I initially called them I thought I needed a big job done. So, the electrician came by, looked and said that I really didn?t need to do that. He told me that I needed to get these two smaller things done and that would take care of it. I was very impressed with that because I already had a mindset that it would cost me million dollars for the big job. He could have sold that to me, but he was honest. I don?t have much to compare their price to. I had a little trouble with the initial contact. I would use their services again.
Description of Work: I used the services of Nelson Electric maybe a year ago. They replaced a ceiling exhaust fan in my bathroom and a ceiling fan in another room.
