Not well, we hired them to find out what was wrong with our A/C unit and it took them over a year and they never completed the job - also cost us major money and we had to hire someone else to fix it in the end. They were never able to properly diagnose the problem and we paid close to $10,000 (probably more) from the invoices I was able to find. At the end they were incredibly unprofessional and I would never recommend them.

Neither one of the plumbers that they sent (over the course of one week) had any idea what they were doing. They both suggested unnecessary repairs at crazy prices without ever diagnosing the real cause of the water leaks. This was the most unprofessional company that I have ever dealt with. The real problem was diagnosed and quoted for repair by another plumber for 1/4 the price.

In 2014 JP did a gas line installation for us. Aside from not spraying some of the exposed pipe (which promptly rusted) they did a fine job of that installation. I recently set up an appointment to do some interior plumbing (replacing shut off valves) and they called to cancel the appointment at the time of the appointment, saying they would call back to reschedule. They never did so I assume they don't really want the business. Ok.

As mentioned, i have used JP before. They do pretty good work, although the first time it took four trips to fix a simple item, that should have never been fixed, but replaced. They "made good" on this by not charging for a future visit. Most recently, we had a clogged ejector pump, that we were quoted a price (verbally, shame on me) of about $650 dollars. They came out and resolved the problem well, but we never received an invoice. When we did ultimately get it, it was for more than $1,200, approximately double the price. I received this invoice by email. When i called to try to pay, i was met with unanswered phones and no call back to three messages i left. Finally, in response to an email, i was able to get a call back, and explained that this was substantially higher than we had discussed. I got a response to the effect that it was a much more difficult job, etc. They initially charged me for a same day service call surcharge, which i was never told about, and did not ask for. When i complained, they said "there is an additional fee for same day service." ( I wonder if there is a discount if they are not busy and come out the same day) Ultimately they removed that charge. I asked for an itemized bill, and was unable to get an invoice. I was sent a somewhat itemized email. Since it was three months after the fact, i figured i had no right to complain, so i paid the bill, which i felt was unreasonable. I then asked for an estimate to install a toilet, and it took three days to get a price, which was on the high side, despite the fact that i had used them several times before. I called an angie's list competitor and got same day service (with no extra charge for same day service) and saved $75 dollars on the installation, which was was a savings of 25%. I liked the plumbers at JP's and again, felt that they do pretty good work. Unfortunately their practices leave something to be desired.
Description of Work: I have used JP plumbing before. This time, I was trying to pay three month old bill that I had never received, and it was for substantially more than we were quoted, because there was more work that needed to be done, I imagine. I called and left three messages JUST TO PAY THE BILL and no one answered or returned the message. Finally, I got a response to an email, and paid the bill. I asked for a quote to install a toilet, and it took three more days to get it, and then the price was too high, leading me to another Angie's list provider.

We are so pleased to know that Mr. [Member Name Removed] found a service provider that could meet his financial needs. Though it is a shame that we could not reach a price that he was satisfied with for his toilet installation. Even after reducing what is a mid range priced Kohler toilet to below that of an economy model. On the 5th of this month I did reach out to Mr. [Member Name Removed] to wish him a Happy New Year and follow up on whether he wanted to move forward or not with the installation of the toilet at the $ 650.00 price. I had not heard back from him until today. Our first experience with Mr. [Member Name Removed] was that of two attempts to rebuild a 2nd flr toilet as opposed to replacing it. Mr. [Member Name Removed] has mentioned that we took "four trips to fix a simple item that should have never been fixed but replaced". It appears that it wasn't that simple after all, after two visits we did replace his toilet. We provided him with the same model toilet at no charge and the labor at no charge. He did choose to upgrade the model of the Kohler toilet at his cost of $ 200.00. So he did get a new toilet after three visits for two thirds of what it normally would cost. On Monday October 26th I received a call from Pam [Member Name Removed] who told me that [Member Name Removed] was out of town and had told her to call us due to the basement toilet sewer ejector pump failing over the weekend. I contacted our parts distributor to find out price & availability for an ejector pump. I then spoke with Pam and let her know the cost of the pump would be about $500.00. Plus our normal service charge of $ 65.00 and the regular labor rate of $ 120.00/hr. Pam did schedule us to go out the same day and install the new pump. Contrary to what Mr. [Member Name Removed] thinks we did not charge our "same day/emergency service rate of $ 150.00/hr. The 1st call we had on this was on 10/26 and we came out and did the work in 4.5 hrs that day. I did e-mail the invoice to Mr. [Member Name Removed] on 12/8, (yes this was 5 weeks after the the work, not my best timing). As I recall the date I e-mailed the invoice to [Member Name Removed] we spoke on the phone and I apologized for the delay in emailing it out. He mentioned that he had completely forgotten about it and hadn't realized he did not receive the invoice. The invoice was paid on 12/31 after much phone conversation & e-mails about the price, which we did reduce by the service charge. The entire process from service date to payment of the invoice took two months. As I explained to Mr. [Member Name Removed] we do not do "itemized invoices". I e-mailed him the following on 12/14. "Hi Mr. [Member Name Removed], Yes I do remember speaking with Pam about the price of the pump being about $500.00. With the additional check valve that had to be replaced and all materials, it came to $ 609.54. I have Terry as being on the job for 4 1/2 hrs. We charged the $65.00 service charge plus our standard $120.00/hr labor rate even though it was a same day service call. That would have normally been $150.00/hr. I simply overlooked that we came out to fix this the same day that Pam contacted us. I know some time has passed since we originally spoke about this. Please know that we are not overcharging you for the replacement of a sewage ejection pump and a check valve. This is a rather expensive part to replace and it does normally take some time to do it. We greatly appreciate your business and hope that you would be happy with our services in every aspect. I look forward to hearing back from you." In retrospect I am sure the communication between the parties involved had a lot to do with the understanding of the price to replace the sewer ejector pump. This is a common occurrence between husband and wife. We always try to speak with the party directly responsible for payment so there are no surprises. JP's Plumbing and Heating is well known for our customer service. We pride ourselves on being available for our clients at all times, when they have an immediate need as well when they have a question or two on plumbing, heating or air conditioning. As you can see from Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s previous review dated April 10th, 2015, we do provide our clients with timely, cost effective service. We are very fortunate to have clients who prefer top rated service and technical ability. They are the reason we are here and continue to strive to be a better company. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. [Member Name Removed] for this opportunity. Best, Jane Sinnott

Very professional, returned phone calls promptly. On time and excellent with communicating to us with whats going on.Clean, reasonably priced, professional and courteous.Initially they bled our system because of all the air caught up in it.Which was causing very loud noises. They showed us where the leak came from and that they needed to replace a part. When the part came in(exactly when they said it would) they were on time and finished the job in the amount of time they said it would take.Jimmy was the plumbers name who did the job and i cant recommend them highly enough.Very professional, fair priced and excellent with communicating to us what was going on A+ rating and will use them from here on out for any plumbing needs we might have

Not only did the plubmer suggest the most expensive approach to solve every problem, it took weeks for them to source parts and supplies, and ultimately, they failed to even provide a proposal. I eventually did some of the required work myself, quickly and easily - which made me feel that the company was being deceptive. They were also so slow about getting my work scheduled that I didn't feel like my business was important at all.
Description of Work: The plumber came to assess why a basement leak was happening. Traced it back to the tub, and replaced the drain assembly. The leak continued, b/c the escuctheons were not properly sealed. Plumber suggested rebuilding the entire shower fixture. Similarly, when diagnosing a tiny leak in a faucet controller, plumber suggested replacing the whole sink.

Came to assess the work and said an estimated would be provided in a few days. No estimate ever came. Phoned after 2 weeks and was told a estimate would be done in a few days. No estimate 6 weeks later. Very unprofessional. If there was a problem - too small of a job, backlog of work, shortage of workers, etc. - we should have been told at the time or in a follow-up call or email that they were unable to do the work or uninterested in the job. It is very unprofessional and poor business strategy to ignore a potential customer. I would never call this plumber again and definitely not recommend them. And yes, the work has been done by someone else who was more responsive and appreciative of the work. I would give an overall evaluation of F, but he did come to look at the work to be done, and he was on time.

We are terribly sorry that [Member name removed] felt this way. We had a number of conversations with [Member name removed] about work he was inquiring on behalf of his son. His son needed a number of services provided that would require us to go to his son's home and diagnose an issue with his shower, review three toilets for removal and installation of three new toilets, review the location for a garbage disposal installation, including options & prices for the disposal as well as reviewing the removal & taking measurements for the installation of new piping for a sump pump. After having developed a good rapport with [Member name removed] he felt he did not want to pay for us to send a technician out to his son's home to spend the time to review these fore mentioned items. It is unfortunate that in this industry, as in many others, we have to charge for an estimate of this caliber. With the expense of doing business, in this specific case having to pay a technician to drive a company insured vehicle & fill that vehicle with fuel, to spend an hour to two with this specific client and return to the office to inquire the cost of all of the parts, the fixtures and estimate the time needed to do the work in order to put together an accurate estimated price for that client, in this specific case we have to charge a nominal $ 65.00 fee. An estimate in no way binds anyone to a contract with us. It is an attempt to cover the costs involved. In this case, as is with so many others, this potential client had been price shopping. Unfortunately he was not willing to take it a step further to see the benefits of having JP's Plumbing & Heating provide him with our services. As can be seen by our many positive reviews. We are a skilled, well liked team and I am truly sorry that Mr. Shah & his son did not have the opportunity to see this for them selves.

Had a great experience with JP's Plumbing. They were able to schedule a visit the week before Christmas and were prompt and professional. Jimmy diagnosed the problem and explained exactly what he was going to do. His work was quick, clean and at a fair price. He also took a look at the old pipes in the basement to examine what might be at the root of the problem (though that would be a bigger job down the road) when he was done with the service call. Very satisfied and would call again with any future needs.

I initially wrote a horrible review for this provider as they were not responsive, and several unfortunate errors cost me a fair amount of, at the time, unnecessary extra money. I am pleased to say that John bent over backwards to make things right. They had to come out four times before it was completely finished, but at the end of the day, it seems to have been done well. I was particularly impressed by their insistence to make sure that things were done to my satisfaction, even though it meant not getting paid anything for the final installation and repair of my toilet. Jimmy, the technician is very punctual, efficient and pleasant to deal with. John explained that they were having some problems in the office due to temp help which has now been resolved. All in all, they did what they were asked to do and persevered until it was done properly.

JP always does a good job. We have been using him, and his associate Jimmy, for about 6 years. Everything went well in these last jobs, as they generally do. If there is anything that needs follow up, JP stands by his work and is there to ensure everything is done to a client's satisfaction. We have been very pleased with JP's trade craft and honesty. We feel very good about depending on him to do our plumbing. Only issue is that he can get busy. When he is available, we like to use him.

John was upfront and honest with me the whole time. I was given an estimate and he advised me of the possible "unforeseen" risks and associated costs that could be additional. I was able to purchase my own fixtures, which saved the mark up on materials that other contractors try to sneak in. I was able to verify all licensing, insurance and references with ease. He always stayed on schedule, met deadlines, and worked great with other contractors involved in the remodel. Oh!...and I was always able to reach him! The work was neat, passed inspections with no problem and his employees were always courteous, punctual and tidy. I met with a few other plumbers and even though their prices were a bit lower, I decided to choose JP's.... As the saying goes "You get what you pay for." Overall, I am very happy and would Not think of using anyone but JP's again!
Description of Work: JP's did all the plumbing for a kitchen remodel and 1 and a half baths. I Purchased an older home (approx 94 years old to be exact) and the plumbing was a mess. We ended up gutting both baths and the kitchen.

I want to preface this review, that I did not have any issue with J & P other than them not following up with a bid or a phone call to state that they were not interested/able in doing the job. John came out to the house on the 22 of November to look at the set-up. I had been dealing with the need to replace one heating unit and hot water source with two seperate lines for a 2 family. The area was tight and John made a recomendation to go with electric heat in the 2nd apartment as it was a small unit. It was a great suggestion and I really felt comfortable with him that he was not trying to over sell me. He took down all of the specifications and asked me a lot of relevant questions. When he left I had pretty much already made my mind up that as long as his price was within the other bids range, I would be going with J & P. However, that was the last I ever heard from them. I called several times to follow-up and got no response. I even waited longer than I wanted to, hoping that they would get back to me. But nothing. John was a very nice guy and I felt that he was qualified for the job but in the end I would have appreciated a call to say that they were too busy, so I could continue with my search and move on.

I keep using J.P.'s plumbing again and again because of the good service and reasonable price. It's a small group - just John and the two other plumbers that work for him - and they are all really nice guys. When I have called, he almost always gets back to me quickly. If it's something urgent, like no heat or no hot water, he has always found a way to get to me the same day or early the next morning. I am a homeowner who likes to get his hands dirty, wants to know how things work, and can handle little jobs once I have seen a professional do it. Working with John has been great because he doesn't mind letting me watch and explaining to me how these repairs are done. Needless to say, there are not many plumbers out there who are willing to teach as they work! I have learned a lot from him each time he has come to fix something. One thing to note is that J.P.'s doesn't work inside a gas boiler. They can fix circulator pumps but they can't repair the workings inside the boiler (furnace). If you know you are having a problem inside the boiler, call the gas company instead.
Description of Work: I have used J.P.'s plumbing several times over the last five years. Once it was to replace my water heater when it broke; once to unclog a clogged sewer pipe; twice when I had no heat due to a failed circulator pump, once to fix two leaking faucets, and once to install a new sink the garage.

It was one of the best experiences that I have had with dealing with a contractor. I got his information from the Internet. He came over within 2 hours and figured out the problem within minutes. He broke down down the step by step procedure and informed me on adjusting the temp. on the heater. He also advised me on an automatic shut off system that I will have installed soon.
