We contracted for the full service and we really got it, could not be more pleased. Foreman and crew were prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and neat as possible for what is major work and could have been very messy. Their technology and application of that technology is absolutely first rate. Their systems will make our home comfortable and efficient for the long term! Excellent value for money.

Good experience with the company over all. From the initial meeting for an estimate with Keith Saunders very professional and informative, answered all my questions. Day of the install crew arrived on time introduced themselves let me know what was going to be done, felt comfortable leaving them in my house while I went to work. Second day of the install met the Forman, David Hicks very friendly, attention to details and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. The crew never seemed like they were in a rush or like they were just trying to slap the job in. Took however long it took and they did it right and clean. Will most like have the company back to insulated basement.

Description of Work: Sealed all penetrations in attic and insulated the attic with blown in insulation. The attic is approximately 2800 square feet. The sealing job was well done though difficult especially in the summer heat but the crew worked very diligently. They were careful to keep everything clean and did a very professional job.

The product they were selling was twice the cost, for HALF the insulated R value. Which with diminishing returns means less than half the product that I had installed. US Insulation in Berlin, CT literally completed my job with R38 on the apexes and R20 on the gable ends for $6000. I hope you figure out your pricing because That was out of the park.

I needed the above mentioned work done in my attic since my attic furnace constantly turns on the heat in the winter, and AC during the summer, all while my house was very inconsistent with temperatures. Knew I had serious air leaks and way too little insulation. I contacted Dr. Energy Saver first because this company keeps coming up in every web search. Richard, the spokesman who came to my house was very professional, polite and very thorough in his nearly 2 hour presentation. He was so good, that I got caught up in the sales pitch and fell for the "sign now and we'll knock off $500.00" routine. I agreed to hire them. Gave them $2400 for the required down payment. The next day I called to cancel. Simply for the fact that it was stupid of me to hire the first company that I got a quote from. Good thing I did, because after searching some more (which was a bit time consuming since Dr.Energy Saver dominates in internet searches) , I found a few other companies. I ended up with EcoSmart Home Services who did an excellent job for the exact same work , using the same type of materials, for a couple thousand dollars less! So while Dr. Energy Saver's contractor/salesman was indeed very pleasant to deal with, perhaps their high prices has to do with the fact that they are a large company, have detailed websites and fancy informative guide books that they send you in the mail. I rated them an "A" for Responsiveness, Punctuality and Professionalism since Richard was indeed all that. But a "C" for the proposed price.

After having the States program (HES) come into my house and do as minimal as they could, gave me ten blue color type light bulbs i tossed, cracked my ceiling, and calked one of my windows shut I felt it SCAMMED!. Then Dr. Energy came to my rescue!!! The sales person was knowledgable, polite, and talked to me the way I could understand. Everything went better than expected. After a terrible experience with the States program I gave the energy thing one more try. Not only is my house more comfortable and saving money on my oil bill my whole house smells better from the dehumidifier they installed in my basement. No more musty smells! I would recommend Dr Energy Saver to anyone who wants a grade A job. The technicians were great the whole experience from the sales call to the final followup was one of the best experiences I have ever had from a contracting company. I would only consider DR Energy Saver to anyone who wants an experience like mine. Worth every penny I paid!

He was on time and the team was efficient -- did the usual that all energy audit providers do - replace lightbulbs, blower test, weather stripping and then try to sell you insulation or new energy efficient A/C. The problem was that the salesman gave us a template report afterwards (via email) that was totally incomplete. Even when my husband told him that it was incomplete and didn't address all our questions, we never heard from him again. I guess because we weren't interested in additional services, we weren't a valued customer.

With a name like and quot;Dr Energy Saverand quot; I was not predisposed to favoring these guys. The name seemed gimmicky and I imagined them to be a large impersonal profit-centered operation. Bruce Blanchette was the rep who came to give me the estimate. I was pleasantly surprised. He was low key, professional, very knowledgeable, and an enjoyable guy to spend time with; he spent almost two hours discussing and giving me advice on all sorts of things--some of which were unrelated to the project or any services he could have sold me, but he gave me some really useful information and ideas. When it came time to discuss the work I wanted done, he actually talked me out of doing as much as I originally wanted. work that would have resulted in more money for him, but that he felt was unnecessary. I got three estimates on the job and Dr Energy Saver was competitive with the others--but they were the only ones who talked me out of doing more work than necessary. I chose Dr Energy Saver because of Blanchette's clear honesty and knowledge. A scheduler called me to schedule the work and they were able schedule the work at a time convenient to me. On the day the work was to start, the crew (Ralph and Dan) showed up on time and with an impressive amount of equipment; they worked HARD for two long days--there was no question this was worth the money. I am a hard-core DIY guy, but there is no way I could have done what they did. Both Dan and Ralph were professional, courteous, and responsive when I had questions or concerns; like Bruce, they were knowledgeable and decent people that put me at ease about the project. The job took two days as they promised, and they did a great job--doing more than I expected, and they left the place cleaner than when they started. I would call these guys again in a heartbeat!

We are sorry that you found our services too expensive. What we have found is that in most cases the comparison is not an apples to apples comparison. Also you mention in your review that you had work performed by us, when our records indicate apart from the free assessment, you did not contract us to perform any fee based work. Can you please kindly update your review indicating this properly. Thanks

I called for a quote and someone from the company appeared on time. They surveyed my attic and the rest of the house for insulation needs and then sat down for an extensive sales talk. The price for blown cellulose insulation was more than double that of two other quotes I got later on. They also wanted to move an air duct in the attic to make room for a hatch cover, which the two other companies who quotes later said wasn't necessary. They also said my air ducts where not insulated. Both of the two other companies that came to quote later told me they were in fact insulated except for a small intersection. They spent at least an hour giving me an aggressive sales talk and offering a 5% discount if I sign the contract on the spot. I did not get a quote in writing, and when I asked for one via email a few days later I never heard back. It seems they are way more expensive than other providers, don't tell the truth, and aggressively try to get you to sign on the spot.

Response from Dr. Energy Saver Connecticut
We appreciate your taking the time to review us. I am sorry we did not properly explain the difference in what we do vs. virtually all of our competitors in order for you to see an apples to apples comparison of our price and what you are really getting vs. our competitors. 1. We provide extensive air sealing of top plates, wire penetrations, duct work entrances etc in the attic. A majority of insulation contractors completely neglect this crucial portion of the project. Without proper air sealing, any blow in or batt insulation will simply function as a large air filter as cellulose and fiberglass to no prevent air infiltration. It reduces the effectiveness of the insulation significantly. Beware of contractors who insulate without air sealing. 2. We provide proper protection against fire hazards by using the proper rated materials for high heat can lights, rock wool around chimmney's, etc. Be carefull when contractors do not mention this in their estimate because it means they are creating potential hazards and reducting the effectiveness of the insulation 3. Traditional duct work does have minimal insulation. This insulation (even on new ducts) is not sufficient to properly insulate against heat and cold loss from you ducts. Think about it. In the summer the attic can reach 150 degrees, and you are passing cool air through the ducts. As this air goes through the ducts in the attic it warms significantly and reaches the conditioned space much warmer, thus causing the cooling system to work harder, using more electricity, and not providing proper cooling to parts of the home the furthest away from the cooling unit. The same thing happens in the winter, when the attic (the same temp as outside) is passing warm air, it cools down, again causing the furnace to run more, and creating cold rooms. ALL ducts in the attic should be encapsulated with spray foam to maximize both the sealing of the air but providing the proper r-value to maintain consistent temps through the duct work. In analyzing your proposal, if you backed out all of what we know to be essential to proper results, I am confident our price would have been the same as the other contractors. Again, I am sorry this was not properly explained to you. I thank you for having the opportunity to address your concerns.

We were very pleased with the work that they did. The workers were very efficient, considerate, and they cleaned up well after themselves. I was completely satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: I used Dr. Energy Saver to do a complete waterproof in our basement. They also did a trench all around the interior while putting in a rock and cement gutter. They also sprayed a mold killer and preventer on the walls. They covered all of this with a veinal, and they sprayed the top of the foundation to keep everything air tight. Along with that they put in three windows along with back up sub pump.
