Cisco and his team did a great installation job. Professional and quick. Set up plastic around the work area to minimize dust. Clean up was completed well.

Great. Service technician arrived on-time. He performed the work as requested. He informed me of a leak in our downspout. He provided a repair suggestion. He was not pushy at all.

We are thrilled with results and have received many compliments on the finish. Their proprietary system of vinyl covered moisture proof wall boards are good looking and superior to drywall. Their floating vinyl flooring and floating carpet tile has to be seen to be believed. Plus a 50 year warranty on the work and materials! . Base 2 man crew were very professional and neat. Plumbing and electrical sub-contractors were obviously responsive to CBS. Salesman was very patient and documented work to be performed. Job planner/supervisor was on site periodically throughout install. Work took less than 1 month to complete once permit was issued.
Description of Work: We finished about 800 sq ft of our walk-out basement - playroom, office and full bath, And enclosed rest for storage, boiler and utilities. No demolition as basement was totally unfinished. Full 8 ft ceiling height. Included all electrical and plumbing. Included interior doors, flooring system, dropped ceiling and all trim. Perimeter joist rim insulation foam installed. Wall system included integral wall insulation where it abutted block walls. Included electric baseboard heating and LED recessed lighting. Excluded bathroom fixtures but they did install. Fully permitted.

The job took 1.5 days because I had moved everything to the center of the basement. They had 5+ feet of clearance around the perimeter, with plastic covering hung from floor joists. The dust still managed to cover everything behind the plastic walls. My advice: do a thorough job of sealing the space or be prepared to have a big dust cleanup. Only disappointment was that the drain at the foot of the steps to the bilco doors was positioned directly below the internal door. You cannot install a sill on top of this so when finishing we will now have a dangerous transition. This was never explained. Otherwise, a great crew.

It has been 3 years since I installed a full perimeter water proofing system from CT Basement Systems. I waited 3 years to see how the system held up over time before offering this review. Bottom line, after years of having constant water in my basement, the system has done what it promised to do. My basement has remained dry for the most part. Immediately after having the system installed, we identified a few spots where there were penetrations through my basement wall where water was coming in and overshooting the perimeter system. All but one of these spots have been fixed. There remains one last trouble spot which is where the flue pipe for my furnace comes through the wall that water still seeps through but only under the most serious (hurricane type flooding) water conditions. It is not something that we would have expected the system to prevent as water follows the flue pipe past the system and onto the floor. We will be addressing it to finally have a dry basement once and for all. I understood immediately what the system would and would not fix. Of all the contractors I spoke with CT Basement Systems was the only one who was up front and honest about how their system would work, what it would fix and what it would not fix. This was one of the reasons I finally went with them, low pressure, up front honest sales. To all those other basement system companies sales people who tried to convince me my house was going to collapse if I put in any other system but theirs, take note. My house is still standing. The installation was messy and noisy (as promised) but it was all done in a day, and they left it neat and clean (expect for all the dust) and professional looking. After 3 years, not a single drop of water has made it past the perimeter drain channel. I did need to replace a float switch on one of the sump pumps (I have the triple safe pump) but that is the reason i went with the triple safe pump system. What I realized is that all these basement systems are the same idea. Create some type of channel to create a path for the water to drain to a collection point. It then gets pumped out. All of these systems from all the different companies are the same idea and all try to convince you that theirs is unique and better. I personally feel they are all the same as they all work. What is critical is the pump system. It was basement system's triple safe pump concept more than anything that convinced me to go with them. With all the others, a single pump failure would have caused a flood. So read their informative book carefully and listen to their sales people and ask questions. So long as you understand what the system will and will not do I don't think you will be disappointed.

Amazing. YES - you pay a lot - but they rocked, their solution rocked, and the installation was flawless. We just built a brand new home and the builder put in the cheapest 24" deep sump pump possible. We live in an area known for basement flooding so I did my research - had several companies come in - and settled on Connecticut Basement Systems. But my LORD - expensive. But now I know why. Their crew of 3 showed up and laid down plastic mat from our front door all the way down to the basement (at least 200'). It was over kill - but then I saw why. They had to dig a 36" deep pit and a wider hole - and brought up all the mess in buckets. NOT A SINGLE DROP ON THE BASEMENT FLOOR OR ONE THE WAY UP THE STAIRS. In fact - if you didn't see the high tech 3 pump sump pump they installed - you would have never known they were there. EVERYONE was super nice and answered all my many questions. I just spent a year in **** building a new home - and this was the best experience I've had with a contractor in 10 years. Pay the bucks - great product - great installation - great service.

The crawl space of my house was always filled with water during the heavy rainy period. Also, there was a problem need to be taken care of from the previous job done by ?Budget Dry Waterproofing Inc? on the front basement caused the discharged water flooded my neighbor?s yard. Budget Dry left me with the problem and wanted to charge me to take care of it or sign up for the crawl space waterproofing job. There is no way I want to work with a contractor that irresponsible and totally not trust worthy. The sales person evaluated the space and discussed with me a plan to solve the problem for good. The plan was to install the French Drain system and a sump Pump for the crawl space. The crawl space is just about 4 feet tall, it?s not easy for a regular height person to use the concrete jackhammer to jack up the concrete for a complete perimeter French Drain and a sump pump system installation. It is a large space, over 1000 square feet. It was a one day project. The crew members arrived on time and were courteous and professional. They installed the basement system accordingly as agreed on the contract. They resolved the ?discharged water flooded my neighbor? problem. The place cleaned almost spotless after the job was done. As my request, the manager and the crew members did their best and go beyond to move the discharged pipe a few feet more away from the house to make sure the customer was happy. The project was done smoothly. The customer service representatives were very helpful too. They answered all my after installation questions. Also, I was able to sign up for a six months interest free payment plan. Since the waterproofing system installed there is no more water in the crawl space. I am just so happy that I have Connecticut System to do the waterproofing system. They did an outstanding job. I would recommend them for your basement project.

Their quote was much lower that a competitors bid and they did the job as expected. There were no surprises. They scheduled the service, communicated in advance to ensure I was aware they were coming and did quality work. The crew was professional and fairly clean considering they had to break the concrete to install the drain. I am pleased with the work and would recommend them to others.

An A++++ CONTRACTOR From day one they were very professional and courteous. I sent my inquiry in via the website and got a call back the same day. The office schedules an inspection and in the mean time, they mail an information package and educational book (its a sales pitch but does have very good and mostly honest info). The salesman / inspector was scheduled to come to the house and the lead time was 4 weeks. This is a bit long but I was shopping this project around so I decided to be patient, especially due to the good reviews on this site and from a co-worker who had it done 10 years ago. Of the 6 companies I had come to see the space and give me their proposal, CT basement systems's inspector Ralph came with the least amount of pressure (actually none). He presented to me their solution to solve my issues and didn't try to up sell me on anything. He Explained the options available and gave me the information I needed to make the decision for myself. He answered my follow up emails and questions promptly and with detail. Before I continue let me explain the issues I was experiencing in my basement.... - water entering around floor to wall joint during rain storms and snow melt periods. - water entering through stone foundation walls during heavy rain and snow melt. -water entering through foundation wall of front porch about 1 foot below grade (in the basement the porch has a crawl space and not a full height basement). -always very humid and musty smelling even with a dehumidifier running. -We live near a lake so we have a high water table in this area. Once i had all my proposals in hand (from excavating around the house to various versions of interior french drain/sump pump systems), i based my decision on the following criteria: -reputation -reviews -number of years in business -Warranty/Terms -Cost -Financing Options Basement Systems was NOT the lowest number nor were they the highest. I chose them because: -Great reputation and reviews both on Angie's list, via a google search and from co-worker (and Bob Villa ha ah) -Over 20 years in business (important when a company is issuing a warranty as its only as good as long as they are in business). -A life time transferable warranty against floor joint and wall leaks. -Available/ Good financing options -Triple Safe pump system. -Ralph (the salesman/project manager) told it to me straight with no filler and didn't try to up sell me on anything. Scheduling was quick and painless, however, it was 2 months away. Again I didn't like the lead time but I was patient as i felt they were the right company for the job. The lead time allowed me to get some things ready in the basement before they came. While you wait, they send out an information package on the electrical requirements recommended to run the pumps, a note on the dust that will be created during the installation as well as a form to fill out with an area to write notes to the foreman. I filled it out and sent it in. I received a call 1 business day before the scheduled date to confirm the appointment. The crew arrived on time as promised. Initially, I walked the space with the foreman and told him my water issues, concerns and pointed out areas to be EXTRA careful (.i e. Around water main)- he listened to me well and passed the information on to his crew - before any work started and before the crew entered the work area. They worked very efficiently and hard. The foreman was, what we call in the trades, a "non working foreman"... This means that his primary responsibility is to supervise his crew and make sure they are installing correctly. He did do some of the more difficult or critical installation items such as: setting up the triple safe pump/battery system, piping, and even set the pace by jack hammering along with the men at the beginning. They took (1) break for lunch. The foreman would periodically come get me and show me what they were doing and explain why. I liked this. At the end of the job the space was left broom swept clean and neat. The foreman walked me through the triple safe pump system and how the components worked. He showed me the 12 volt dc battery back up system and marine battery. They left nothing behind. The ONLY ISSUES I had were: - they did not install the clean space wall covering about 3 feet wide (floor to ceiling) at the chimney location where the boiler exhaust pipe comes into the masonry. When i asked the foreman why, he told me that they normally do not install it there as the pipe gets too hot. I let it go as i figured they must have ran out of material. - Later in the night i also noticed that they did not seal around the pipes that come through the wall and penetrate the clean space. That night I wrote Ralph an email with photos showing and listing my concerns/ punch list. I also pointed out that on the proposal document, it showed clean space in the location where it was left out. The next morning i called the office and explained my concerns. The woman listened to my concerns and took notes. She told me that the service department would handle the punch list and said that she needed to put me on a brief hold so that she could get the service manager up to speed before transferring me to the service department. The service manager was kind and listened well. She did NOT make any excuses, argue or trivialize my concerns. She asked a few questions to make sure the tech had everything he needed to finish the same day. She initially told me they were booked until mid October and that's when I kindly explained that i would be holding payment until i received what was agreed to in the contract. A tech was scheduled for the following Saturday (a week and a half away). By this time Ralph had answered back via email (less than 24hrs time) and i told him i called the office and they were taking care of it. The tech arrived on time, was very friendly and courteous and completed the punch list in about an hour. No more wet basement and the dehumidifier is working MUCH more efficiently and running less. The house feels less humid up stairs and the basement space looks better too (clean space is WHITE). CT Basement Systems comes HIGHLY Recommended.

The servicemen arrived as scheduled. Both workers were very pleasant. They removed the old window without any problem. The installation took a few hours (~2-3) - as explained to me over the phone and expected. They were very neat about the fireproofing and sealing of the window. We won't be able to test this until the Winter months, but we can wait. :) They even tried to assist me in re-installing the home security device. Overall, a very good experience. The window looks great and appears to be able to withstand the harsh weather conditions of the Northeast.

06/24/14 CT Basement rep did respond to this problem, and offered a discount in service for next season. I find their solution acceptable and feel they were responsive after reading my review. Coming 30 minutes late in a 4 hr window and calling to advise same is not what I think is acceptable. It would not work in my business. However they were fair with their solution to make up for their poor service on 05/19. 05/19/14 I feel as if I have been robbed. This company is impossible to reach, does not return calls, and is NEVER EVER on time for their service window. Today was the last straw. They came out to do annual service on my sump pump and Sani Dry system that they installed within the last 6 years. They did NOT estimate for the work... I stupidly though it would run about $300 or $400 to install a battery back up for a sump pump. I also (stupidly) thought that the serviceman would provide an estimate before beginning the job. The service man was 30 minutes late for a 4 hr arrival window .. As this has been the case EVERY TIME they have come to my house (often they miss the window completely) I should have known better than to schedule a Drs appt for one hour after the appt window, which of course I missed. The man went to work right away, and I went back to my desk . 35-40 mins later I went down to check on the job.... thinking he was servicing the equipment... not knowing that he had begun job for which I had not received any estimate of cost. $900.00 was cost!! I almost had a heart attack. the service person said "it says you had an estimate" I DID NOT receive an estimate from anyone. I absolutely would not have ordered this work at this price, as it is easily had for $400.00 or less for the exact same system by any other provider. I will never use this company again for anything.. and I am a licensed real estate broker in NY and CT and will most certainly NEVER refer them again either.

Response from Connecticut Basement Systems, Inc.
I spoke to [member name removed] on Tuesday 5/27/14 and first apologized for for her experience. She indicated to me that in the 3 times we have provided annual maintenance on her system, we have been within 30 minutes of our arrival time, she did mention that we did call her to mention we were running late. I also assured her that we have a 95% on time rate, and her experience was the exception no the rule. In regards to the Battery Back Up Pump System, our tech did in fact not get confirmation form the the customer prior to installing the system, as he thought the sale was confirmed via the office. It was our mistake and it was an honest one. I then to the time to clearly explain to the customer that there is no possible way she could have gotten a BBU of even near facsimile for the price she mentioned. I explained to her that there are 3 parts to the unit. The Massive 120 Amp Hour Commercial grade deep discharge Gel Cell Battery (not a marine or car battery) that costs us $210 alone. The other parts include the separate high capacity 12 volt sump pump and the automatic control unit that controls the system. OUR COST on these items is $575 and then we have to install and warranty it item. Meaning we work on a reasonable operating margin, and even gave her a 10% discount which means she paid $810 for the item. I offered to fax over a copy of our supplier invoice so she understood the reality of the costs of these units, and that she was in fact not robbed. Lastly, I offered to gladly return at our expense and remove the BBU and refund her money AND give her a FREE maintenace for next year ($150). She was going to get back to me but I have not heard from her yet in regards to her intentions. We pride ourselves on doing the right thing with our customers. We are not perfect, but we stand behind our work and own our mistakes. I feel strongly that this review while justified, is a bit harsh given what we always do. I wish I had had the opportunity to speak with her prior to this review being posted so we could have resolved it prior. I

We just moved into our house on June 1, and a few days later we had some strong downpours and our basement flooded! It turns out there was a sump pump which had been installed by CT Basement Systems a couple of years earlier. However, it was pumping the water into a gutter drain next to the house. This gutter drain was clogged, and the water was rising out of the ground and pouring into a window well, and from the well back into the basement! Danny from CBS came out, and suggested putting in a perimeter system around that part of the house, which would have cost about $1800. I thought about it a few days, and figured that a better thing to do was to lead the water from the sump and gutters away from the house. So I had Danny come back and told him my idea, and he thought it would work. A month later he came back and installed the 4" drainage pipe and hooked in the sump and two gutters for a cost of $600. It's almost a year later, and it's worked perfectly so far. We've had many days of heavy rain, and the sump pumps that water into the new drainage, and the water emerges at the end of the drainage pipe near the border of our property. Not a drop in our basement! I'm glad I thought of this solution - I guess I can't blame CBS for suggesting the more expensive solution.
Description of Work: They installed a discharge line to take water from our sump pump and several gutters away from the house.

Our home inspector told us that we should have the foundation looked at, especially since most of the jacks were the "temporary" kind. Also, many of the beams for the first floor were altered to make way for utilities, had been shimmed, and many other short cuts fixes over the years. CT Basement provided an estimate in August 2013 and we simply could not justify the expense. It was over $12,000 and we knew that we would never get it back when we sell. So we forgot about doing anything and decided not to invite too many people over at once :) In December, they sent an email with a sale, so we reconsidered it. The sales agent was willing to reconsider the scope of the project, too. That brought the price down enough that we decided to do it. The crew was out on time, worked very efficiently and had it done in one day. They jack hammered the floor and poured a cement footing to support the jack. They completely replaced one beam that had been a mismatch of multiple 2x4s, and they reinforced another beam that couldn't be removed due to utilities under/over it.
Description of Work: Reinforced two beams in the cellar and installed seven permanent jacks with footings

Very happy from start to finish. :) Service technician arrived on the earlier end of the scheduled time window. He seemed to be very knowledgeable and forthcoming with information. He clearly explained every step of the process of cleaning the sump pump. Sump pump was flushed and cleaned adequately. He tried to sell me on a new pumping system with battery back-up, Sounds like a great system to have. However, the cost was a little out of our budget at this time. Maybe in the future though.:) And when asked to look at an old basement window that I wanted to have replaced, he gave a detailed description of the process from how the window was ordered and how he would install it. (I hope to have this same technician return to my home to perform the window installation.) I also had him look at a crack in our foundation. He scheduled to have a technician call me to address that issue. He also recommended a free home energy inspection (which coincidentally, my wife & I were just talking about that AM).
Description of Work: Cleaned sump pump. Recommended other helpful services (i.e. Dr. Energy, Foundation Support Works)
