The tree was righted using a "come along," new soil was added and root fertilizer blended in, with the tree now supported by steel stakes - meant to support it through the next 12 months. Will the tree survive? I can't tell, but it was worth the expense for a specimen tree and I cannot fault Mr. Vill or his crew in their preparations.
Description of Work: A favorite weeping cherry tree, 6 inches in diameter, toppled over during the recent freak snowstorm. While some passing landscapers thought it recoverable, I called at least 4 services and none bothered to even return my calls. Finally, a nursery referred me to Mr. Vill, who is a certified arborist. He came out the next day, gave his opinion that the tree could be saved, and provided an estimate. I approved the go-ahead and he appeared with a two man crew a couple of days later to winch the tree back into a vertical position and stake it to 3 steel posts they inserted, doing some pruning of the crown to lighten the demands on the torn roots. The man is eminently reasonable and courteous and conducts his work in a professional manner.
