Fox Pest Control has helped over 14,000 Connecticut homeowners control and exterminate their pest problems for good. We provide free inspections and guarantee same day service.
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I normally do not leave reviews especially terrible ones but this service has been really awful. I am a brand new customer and have both the yard enjoyment plan and the pest control plan. The representative that signed me up was very sweet and after seeing the raving reviews I decided to give them a try. They were able to send a tech out the same day as I signed up as well so first impression was amazing. However, after the yard was sprayed, we still had a TON of mosquitos. I asked the representative to have someone come back and spray and no one contacted me for several days. I called in where I had to wait almost an hour to speak with someone and they scheduled someone to come out a week later because they didn't have any available techs. That week went by and no one showed for the appointment. I called again and they said "sorry, but they won't be coming and not sure what happened" and they rescheduled for another week later. That week came and went and again NO ONE SHOWED UP. I called back where I had to wait on hold for another hour to speak with someone and they said "sorry, someone can come out in another week." Totally unacceptable, so I asked for a supervisor and to no surprise there was no supervisor to talk to so they said they will have someone call. The supervisor called me almost a week later and left a VM saying "sorry, we won't charge you for the next service so there will be a credit on the account. Call back the main number if you have any questions". She did not even bother rescheduling the service so I had to call back and wait on hold yet again to speak to a representative. When I finally got someone on the line, I asked to cancel all together and the rep was extremely rude and said "sorry, can't do that. You need to talk to a supervisor and I will have them call you but just so you know, they will not cancel the pest services." Days went by and still no call from the supervisor so I called back and a nice gentleman said "I see the issues on the account so no problem, I will cancel both services". The one representative to actually help instead of pushing me away to wait for a so called supervisor. I called back in to ask for a refund since I was already charged for the service and they said "Sorry, can't do that per contract". WELL, the contract also states that you guys will complete services as needed and that never happened so who cares about the contract at this point. The initial fee for the yard was $175 but one spray is $99. I was simply asking for the $75 back since the services were not completed at all. While we understand the $99 is still valid since they sprayed just once but we should not have to pay the rest of the start up fees since NO ONE DID THEIR JOB and completed the services. It has been about a month of back and forth trying to get someone to come to our home to do their JOB that we are PAYING FOR. This is so unfortunate because they make so many promises and make it seem like they have great customer service but the service is just awful. People do not have time to sit around for hours waiting for someone to answer the phone to resolve an issue and wait DAYS for a call back from a supervisor. Totally unacceptable. Will not refer Fox to anyone.

BEWARE: THEY REALLY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU Showing up at our door during COVID lockdown, we gave them a chance. We signed a contract and all seemed fine. They said they visited and sprayed, but never left any evidence that they did (door hanger? flier? receipt?). We ran into them once or twice, so we assumed that they were coming as they said. But when we noticed that there wasn’t much of a positive difference in bug activity, we decided to cancel, no easy feat. I tried calling several times, but no one would ever answer. I left messages, requested callbacks, but still nothing. I emailed them about canceling but got messages like, “What would be the reason for wanting to cancel with us?” and “Do you still have pest activity?” and ”Do you need this pushed out to a different day?” —anything but to the point which was that I requested to cancel service. Despite my pleas, they scheduled a service to my house, didn’t come (I know this because I was home all day), and then sent me an invoice (via mail and email) for $208.38 for services that didn’t occur. (Makes me wonder how many other times they billed me for services not rendered.) And you know WHY they didn’t just charge my credit card? I had canceled it, so they couldn’t. Otherwise, they would have. I tried calling some more to cancel our contract, but no one answered. That was when it dawned on me that they had flagged my phone number and weren’t picking up because they knew what I wanted. So, I called from a different number, and you know what? They picked up immediately. The rep said that she would forward my cancellation request to the Accounts Manager. Then I didn't hear anything further. So I contacted the Better Business Bureau who jumped right on it. They contacted the company and mediated the cancellation, something that wasn’t happening without them. Within two days, I was out thanks to the BBB. My goal now? To warn everyone and post this message everywhere. Stay FAR AWAY from this company. Don’t believe their niceties below or however they respond to this message (and they will). They are a VERY shady company with duplicitous business practices. They will post that they want a conversation with me (as they have posted with others) but those are words after the fact. They are SWINDLERS, HUSTLERS, and CROOKS who just want your money. The proof is in the example they set before the problem, not after it. They didn’t want to talk to me when I wanted to cancel, but they will surely want to talk to me to mitigate bad press. No chance. You made your bed Fox Pest Control, now lie in it.

We live in the country and have significant problems with moles, voles, ticks and spider webs on the windows of our colonial. I was so happy when a Fox Pest Control representative showed up at our door and promised to take care of all of those critters for us. We did not see any immediate improvement but remained patient, assuming that these treatments would take time to make a difference. Four and a half months and $520.05 later there has been absolutely no improvement. Our lawn and garden are now destroyed by mole and vole activity, my kids and cat are in constant danger of tick bites and the spider webs on our windows continue to thrive. I called with my concerns and a week and a half later someone called me back and offered one free service (which have all proven useless). She said sorry but there was nothing more that she could do. My husband’s gut feeling that this would turn out to be a scam was absolutely correct. This company is nothing more than a scam.

I contracted Fox to remove raccoons from the dumpster on my rental property. The first day a tech came out and set a large (raccoon) trap and a smaller (maybe skunk) trap. They caught a raccoon in the larger trap and the door was sprung closed on the smaller trap. It remained this way for a week at which point I called to ask when they would be back, they told me the tech had been there 6 times during the week. I asked for more traps as were promised and they did the same thing, set up a large trap and reset the small. After a couple of days they caught another raccoon in the large trap. They then removed both traps and said they were finished. Raccoons were never taken care of. When I called on the phone no one in their office knew if they had a guarantee or not. They told me they would send a message to their wildlife specialist to have her call me back, she never did after I called them 3 times saying it was urgent. I eventually set my own appropriately sized haveahart trap and caught the large raccoons myself. They charge me $537 and never completed the job Do Not Use Fox Pest Control

At first when I started service with FOX it was going ok the rodent issue was cleared up after they put traps outside for rats after putting traps for just mice in the home and spraying for ants. , Then as the year was over they kept coming by without calling or emailing us They spray for ants in the heavy rain, in winter with snow but they kept not changing the bait on the mouse and rat traps. We called them back they would be forced to come onsite inside our home and provide service for rodents too... After fighting with this company I found that they just likes to bill you and not provide any services I GIVE UP !!! I cannt keep calling them to force them to call before they come so they can treat my home for rodents THE MAIN REASON I HAVE THEIR SERVICE !!!!! Their service contract locks you in to spend money providing services you don't need....!!! Be careful what you sign they like to make the first bill cheap and then keep billing you

We've been very happy with our Fox Pest Control experience. We've been with them a year. We had a rodent problem and called several places for quotes and to see how and when they would come and treat the problem. Fox Pest Control won hands down. They are not the lowest price out there, but they are the best at getting rid of and controlling pest issues. They came right out and took care of us. Our tech is Dylan and he is fabulous. I'm a retired teacher and therapist, my husband a retired top administrator - it was easy to see how professional and courteous Dylan was - and how knowlegeable! Each time he comes out he takes the time to inspect, fix issues, treat, and then instead of rushing off to the next job site, takes the time to inform us, sees if we have any questions. We know what to expect and how things work. We're delighted and will renew our annual contract with Fox Pest Control. It's a company that truly cares about the quality of their work. And they care about the customer. It's like they are treating their own home, they take such care. In fact, they also sent out a wonderful young man, Darrin, for quality control checks to see how we were doing with the program. Excellence still exists - and it's called Fox Pest Control.

Fox responded and were there the next day. They explained what they were doing and what we could expect. We have no signs of mice since the first day when we found 4 little critters in a hallway. It's been a month and Fox came back on a return call during which they checked what they had done for mice, and sprayed for ants and crickets . No sign of them either. What they did was safe for cats and dog and had no odor. .Great job!

Quick Summary: Buyer beware, read your Fox Pest Control contract CAREFULLY (despite what you are told by their in-field representatives), be prepared to make a lot of phone calls, and budget about twice what you would expect. My experience (the short version): I am out $500, still have mice in the house, and it is STILL my responsibility to seal points of entry by myself (which I’ve been doing all along). Pretty much all I got in return for this hefty sum was $40 worth of bait traps. 01/19/18 - When I called to complain about the cost, I was transferred three times. Eventually, someone from the ‘Loyalty Department’ indicated that they had to check some info and get right back to me with a revised figure. No one bothered to call be back, presumably because they already had my money. Eventually, I called THEM to cancel my service, and requested documentation via email that my account has been closed. My experience (the LONG version): We moved into a new home 90 days ago, and quickly discovered that there was an existing mouse infestation. I called Fox Pest Control, and they had a Representative at my home within the hour. After agreeing to sign on with them, the Rep went to work. She placed several bait traps (I had to climb up into the attic, which is where the mice were), sprayed on the outside, and pointed out a few potential points of entry. I was advised that nothing was going to be sealed until the 30 day followup…which my wife and I were told was included in the initial $265 service charge. Seemed pretty high to me, but I went with it. My wife signed the contract (which I SHOULD have read), and the Rep left. I thought it was a little strange that she didn’t look inside the drop ceiling, or under the sinks, but I figured that it would be taken care of in the free 30 day followup. A few days after that, I took a look at the contract, and realized that we had committed to a minimum 1 year term. They call it ‘total home protection’: $265 for the initial visit, $135 for each quarterly visit until cancelled in writing, and a minimum $165 charge for early cancellation. Since my job might entail moving in a few months, there is no way that we would have agreed to this. Also, it said NOTHING about taking responsibility for actually sealing the points of entry. This is really why I called a pest control service in the first place (I can place a few traps myself). I spoke to Scott, who eventually reduced this to a three-visit plan without the ‘discounted’ rate. Now, quarterly visits would be $180. Oh well. Yesterday, a nice Representative came by for my 30 day followup. She took a look around, while I pointed out all of the work I had done to seal the larger holes (that their contract doesn’t cover). She placed two traps (again, I had to put the one in the attic), replaced bait in a third, and left around 15 minutes later. She was knowledgeable and courteous, but definitely in a hurry. I didn’t think twice about the abruptness of the service call (after all, it was already included in my initial $265 charge…per the first Rep). Until I received an invoice for $186.11 last night. I called today, spoke again to Scott. He was courteous, and pointed out that this was, in fact, my quarterly visit at the non-discounted price. I pulled out the email contract (which is DIFFERENT from the one my wife signed), and he was right. Totally my fault for not opening the email and double-checking what we were told, and triple checking what was on the paper contract that I had. I’ll accept that. Fine. When I indicated my dissatisfaction with the services rendered vs. the amount I was charged, I was transferred to the ‘Loyalty Department’…who then indicated that they had to get some information from Scott. At 9:00am, I was told that they would collect this information and promptly call me back after speaking with a Service Manager. After not receiving the promised callback, I decided that my business should be taken to a more competitive and responsive business. The courteous Customer Service Representative indicated that they have cancelled my account (no refunds given, or any attempts made to retain me). Since it seems that the Service Manager actually reads these reviews: Thanks for the costly lesson.

Not an honest business and highly not recommended. The technician didn't place termite monitor and didn't check mice inside the house. Empty promise and no action while contacting the company numerous times. Once you are forced to cancel the service, they re-charge you the discount that enticed you to sign up the service in the first place. $300 for half hour service and all the subsequent hassle? Not worth it. Avoid this business. A couple of days after I cancelled future service, a $165 for cancellation fee was charged directly to my credit card. This is great. Original service wasn't done right. Tried a month to get you guys to correct it without any success. Now I am paying another $165 for nothing. I can't think of anything I did wrong except that I trusted you guys in the first place. Lesson learnt.

I am still waiting for the results of the flea treatment, as I had only had the initial spraying, but I needed to communicate my overall experience so that other users don't risk having to go through the frustration and stress that I went through. The complete lack of care and safety by this firm should concern others. In retrospect, I would have felt more comfortable moving forward with a seasoned Pest control service, than one that is run by inexperienced college students. Don't believe me, check out this link. [*** Link removed ***] I had a flea infestation which needed immediate attention. I contacted Fox Pest through a recommendation on a Thursday (August 18th) morning. The individual on the phone was very courteous and friendly and said that they are sending over staff to our house that afternoon. That afternoon, 2 individuals, appearing to be college students, knocked on our door. Shela did all the talking trying sell a treatment package for pests we never even knew existed. I get it, it's her job, but we made it very clear, we are looking for immediate solutions for our flea problem. Without being prompted, Shela also highlighted that what makes Fox Pest unique is that the outside perimeter is sprayed unlike with other providers. We liked what we heard and we asked as to the next steps. Shela checked the schedule and said that the earliest available date was next Tuesday August 23rd. When prompted on the time window, she replied that someone would contact us the day before with the final details. On Monday August 22nd, we received no call and were getting a bit concerned as our two toddlers were getting bitten up every night and we didn't want this problem delayed any longer. I called the company and asked as to the window when the work would begin. It's a 5 hour job and we need to plan ahead. The individual on the phone, Jay, at first courteous, but then testy, explained that the time would be from 12-3. He said that it would be before 3 as the technician had another appointment at 3. My wife and I continued to prepare for the technician's arrival to ensure he had all floor cleared and floors vacuumed. On the day of the service, Tuesday the 23rd, we had not received any calls from Fox Pest. I called at 11am and asked if all was still on track. Amanda informed me that all was set and nothing else needs to be done. The technician should contact us before his arrival after noon. At 1:30pm, still no call from the technician, and we are approaching 2pm. If the technician really had a 3pm appointment, we are running out of time to actually have the treatment performed which takes close to 1 hour. We couldn't have another night of fleas and we called Fox Pest again. Jay picked up again. I explained my concerns and he said he'd call the technician, who was Orlando. He said he couldn't reach him and that he'd keep trying and call me back in 10 minutes. I was starting to get the theme of how this firm operates. After 20 minutes, my wife who was simmering as she had been working so hard to make sure all went smoothly, called the company again. She asked Jay what is going on. Jay said he'd try again. Jay came back, testy again, "the technician is 12 minutes away." Orlando arrived at 2pm. Orlando explained that the reason we may have fleas is because our backyard patio has an area animals tend to visit during the night, bring in all sorts of fleas. When my wife asked, will the outside be treated, Orlando said he didn't see anything in his notes. My wife proceeded to call Fox Pest once again at 2:10. Sarah answered and said that "we are not responsible for the information that the sales people relayed to us." That's like saying a coach is not responsible for how his players play. Either Sarah is inexperienced or she's incompetent to even utter such nonsense. Ultimately, it was agreed the outside would be treated. I prompted Orlando to explain why he didn't contact us. He said his phone couldn't make phone calls. He had to call the office to reach out to us. He shared his stories of fishing and what lures to use. Seemed like an OK guy and I started to believe his "phone" story. 5 minutes later he was on his phone talking to a Mike. Before we left, Orlando assured us we would be happy with the service and that he would text us, as his phone didn't work, when the work was done. Great! Maybe our experience with Fox Pest was getting better. Wrong! We dropped by the house at 4:30pm to drop off one of the cars in the driveway. Orlando's vehicle was gone. No text messages, no calls. We were told we have to wait 4 hours after treatment to return to the house. What time did Orlando finish? Who knows? When there's poison in the house I'd like to be fairly certain it's safe to return. Called Fox Pest and asked why there is such a complete lack communication during this whole ordeal. Sarah picked up again, and guess what, same thing she told my wife. "We are not responsible for the communication of the people in the field." She proceeded to tell me that there were too many people planning this appointment and things got mishandled. She said she wasn't sure why anyone would tell us an appointment was between 12-3pm, as all appointments are between 9-11am or 3-5pm. She then proceeded to set up an appointment between 11am-1pm for the follow up treatment. When asked what time we can go back, Sarah said that since she spoke to Orlando at 2, with treatment taking about an hour, he should have been done at 3 so we can return at 7. When I told her that Orlando was talking to a Mike for a while and I don't think he got started until 3, she said, then it's 8. We circled around until 9pm to be sure the house was safe because we had zero confidence in what Sarah had said. I wonder how the 2nd treatment will go. So far, the first treatment has worked. Fleas appear to be dying or dead. The stress and frustration we had to go through was unacceptable. Furthermore, the complete disregard for children's safety and pets should be highlighted. UPDATE: I'm happy to say, that a week after the final treatment we are not getting bitten or seeing any fleas in our house. Fox Pest Control did the job they were hired to do. I'm glad Matt reached out to me and addressed my concerns. He was a pleasure to speak with and made sure everything going forward went right. Anyone that's gone through a flea infestation knows how stressful it is, especially when children are involved. The initial treatment's sub par execution added to the stress and my review reflected this. But Fox Pest Control came through and made things right. I want to thank Matt for his understanding our concerns and taking the lead and personally ensuring we would be taken care of going forward.

Initially the inspection went well. I was expecting a call back from the company within 24 hours to finalize a contract and schedule an appointment, which I was told would happen on the day of inspection. Unfortunately, I did not receive a call and had to call the company again to request paperwork (that was not brought on the day of the inspection). I would suggest the inspectors communicate effectively with their customers service reps and and be sure to do what you say you are going to do. Also, be sure to bring contracts, business cards and brochures with you when an inspection is done. Sometimes you only have one time to make a good impression with a client. The implementation of the pest control services went well. It was a very hot day and Conner came in with a smile and went right to work after examining the different areas of our home. There were several areas that needed to be treated throughout the house and the exterior. Active wasp nests were found in the gables. They were all knocked down and dusted. Baits were set in the crawlspace and attic, which are difficult to enter. All sink piping was dusted with a powder to prevent ants from entering these areas. All the while, Conner never complained, even though the weather was quite warm, and completed the job in a polite and very pleasant manner. He also answered any questions I had in the process. They will be coming back at the end of July to see if the baits have been effective. We didn't know we had mice in the attic until our alarm company had to replace a wire in the attic which was bitten through by mice. We've been in the house only a few months and luckily there was no other residue of mice in the home. Apparently there is heavy insulation in the attic and the wiring was placed there. The droppings were found in between the insulation. A vent was also detected during the initial inspection, under a deck which we didn't even know about. This was thought to be a possible entry point for the mice. Let's hope in a month we'll see good results.

They took care of everything and had the suits to protect themselves too. They knocked it down and cleaned it up. They did offer a yearly contract that i am considering in using. They were courteous and efficient; I had no problems with them at all. It took them one trip to complete the job and they did a great job. They also did make me aware that I should stay away from the area.
Description of Work: We had a giant wasp nest under our deck and they came out to take care of that.

They did what we believed was a very thorough job including taking the time to remove the existing hives (even the one in the playscape which was impressive as it required extra effort to remove parts of the playscape to get to the hive). Had to call them back on two different occasions. Once for tiny ants upstairs, which they told us to might happen after their first application then for bees a few months later as we spotted bees in the grass and found a small hive starting to form on the house. Each time they came out quickly and took care of the problem with no additional expense to us. I am very happy to say that we haven?t seen a carpenter ant this year! Overall, we believe they provide a good quality service and would recommend them.
Description of Work: Signed up for a 1 yr term with Fox 4 months ago. They were going door-to-door in our neighborhood and had good timing as we had a history of carpenter ants in our downstairs and had discussed hiring a service this year. In addition, there was a bee issue with a few little hives on the soffit and a large non-active hive in the dormer of the playscape. We signed up that day and theywere there within 90 minutes for the first application.

We are happy with the quality and cost of the service. The pro who came to the house met with my husband, and I later followed up with some further questions. the office staff was very responsive, and when I told them we'd like to purchase their service they again sent someone to our house the same day and by the time we got home, everything was set up.
Description of Work: I called to request an estimate, and someone came to the house that evening. both the folks in the office and the pro who came to the house were warm, friendly, and helpful.

Last week still see some wasp activity, but the tecnician said this might continue for a short while. The company was very prompt when I called the previous day and they showed the next morning. There actually was no charge for this visit, as they come on a quarterly basis, for which the charge is indicated above. They did a complete inspection in January, which included the attic, basement, kitchen, garage,, the exterior, the rear deck, and the garbage collection area. At that time the service included spraying around the foundation for the prevention of carpender ants, which we have had prior trouble with.
Description of Work: Inspected and treated for carpenter bees and wasps. Removed three wasps. Treated back porch area, window jut-out near garage, front of house.
