About us

Design Essence Inc. is an interior design firm with a retail studio in Old Saybrook. We have been in business since 1977 and at 100 Main St. since 1996. We offer furnishings, flooring, lighting, custom soft window treatments,blinds and shutters. We are a Norman's Window Fashion certified dealer. Hunter Douglas is also offered. We have all types of motion furniture, both power and manual. You can come in and just look around, try out our seating. You can purchase from our showroom, special order or use our design services in a myriad of ways! Jan specializes in space planning , color choices and design. We have our own team of contractors or she will work with yours. We do from traditional to transitional to hard edge contemporary and everything in between! We provide white glove service and Jan and Ed are present on every delivery.Check our website and give us a call.
