APPLEBY PLUMBING CO

For the most part, the work was done professionally up until we fired them. A job that was budgeted by our general contractor at $9,500 was invoiced to us in 3 separate invoices for a total of $34,250 and the job was not completed. We fired Appleby and had to hire another plumber (who did an excellent job completing the work), which cost another $5,000. And, we discovered that the kitchen sink had been incorrectly plumbed so that the hot and cold taps were reversed.

chuck and three of his men managed tto incorrectly install the facet and it's hoses (had to return next day). they were out of the house in 15 minutes. cost $250 which comes to $1000/hour

The water main value could not be shut off and needed to be replaced, we also noticed that there was a leak in the main water line. Chuck came by promptly to access the problem and was most helpful in providing numbers to the water company (the water company had to come and shut off the water to the house before the work could be completed - cost and additional $80). I scheduled a time for the water to be shut off and had Appleby come 1 hour after the water company's scheduled time. The water company came, Appleby didn't. We called several times only to be told that "Chuck is often late." To make a long story short, Chuck was vacationing on Block Island. I hit the roof and demanded that someone come and take care of the problem because we had to by the water company. In due course, someone did come, changed the valves and cleared up the leak in short order. We have used the company before and they were prompt, courteous and very good. This last experience as upsetting to say the least.
