 + -1 moreMark is very professional---and he has pros that work with him. He is licensed and has years of experience---he gives you a contract with start date , and finish date and he is exactly on time and gets it done on time even earlier. He is very knowledgeable and knows the building codes and has practical sense and gives good advice. He follows through and pays attention to details. You will get quality work. You might find someone who may be a little cheaper but you will not get the same quality of work.
Description of Work: did a variety of things over the past several years--installed new window-changed a double hung to a casement and installed new anderson sliding doors, he had to do some masonry work around the windows as the old one was oddball size, he also installed vents to allow fans in the bathrooms to vent outside instead of into the attic, he also redid stone steps that were all cracked as well as bout 20 feet of sidewalk.

 + 0 moreMark and his crew were punctual, professional, and fair. Mark and his crew did an incredible job in spite of dealing with a difficult client (me). The project entailed: 1) demolition of 2nd-floor hallway bath and adjacent large bedroom closet 2) creating slightly larger newly-renovated hallway bathroom, and 3) creating a small 2nd-floor laundry room. Mark was very easy to work with, was a true perfectionist and was incredibly fair in terms of pricing, and dealing with unexpected issues that we had (such as a rotted sub-floor, plumbing relocation, etc.). Mark allowed me to purchase all of the plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, etc. and was able to work with our schedule (which as times created some delays). Mark never complained about having to reschedule carpenters, plumbers, electricians. The end product is absolutely amazing and Mark exceeded expectations across the board for us. We would highly recommend Mark for residential renovation work.

 + -1 morePlonowski Building was a pleasure to work with, and Mark Plonowski himself was at all times professional. He was at the jobsite daily checking work and making sure everything was done to the highest quality. He worked closely with his subcontractors who are all excellent. He worked to get us the best cost. His suggestions along the way have, we believe, added value to the house and were consistantly an improvement over our own ideas. He listened and followed through every step of the way. I have to say that the entire job, which ended up lasting a year because of the scope, was seamless.
Description of Work: First of all, Plonowski Building & Renovation designed and installed a new kitchen. This included everything from applying for the appropriate permits to demolition, bumping out an exterior wall, moving a support beam, installing floors, cabinets, appliances, insulation, drywall, and all finishes (counter, backsplash, etc.). In addition, Plonowski replaced a dated solarium, added a bath, renovated 2 other bathrooms and 1 powder room, replaced windows, upgraded electrical work, installed at least 30 recessed lights, installed a gas fireplace insert, and a myriad of other tasks. Plonowski replaced a rotted roof deck and installed cable railing. Truly, no room was left untouched.

 + 0 moreThe job went very well. He came in pretty much on budget, there was a few hundred extra dollars for rot and masonry repair discovered during changing the windows, but this was expected. Mark has an eye for details and will point things out that could be improved (like missing trim) - but he's not really trying to upsell you, in fact in some cases it was the opposite (there were a few things he talked us out of replacing a few things that were still solid and could be reconditioned instead). His carpenter Bert is excellent, very fast and tidy and like Mark he pays attention to detail. Communication was excellent. I plan on using them in the future renovations.
Description of Work: We replaced all the windows in our new house. We purchased most of the windows separately through a regional chain that contacted Mark to come out and measure and furnish a quote for installation (price of the windows is not included in the above). Mark also supplied and installed two additional basement windows, an entry door for the garage and a new front door plus sidelight. During the installation of the windows and doors he performed rot and masonry repair as needed. The quote we got from Mark for installation and buying the windows ourselves was substantially cheaper than going with one of the national manufacturer's installation services, they all seem to put a significant markup on both the product and the installation but with a much much much longer and higher pressure sales pitch. It was far more pleasant and straight forward dealing with Mark. He also performed a few other small tasks while he was there such as drywall repair, finished off some Pergo flooring the former owner didn't install correctly and quoted putting in a fold-down ladder to the attic.
