It never happened because Rick was unwilling to perform the work in our presence. I’ve never had this happen before. In fact he told us to find someone else to do the work when we said we wanted to be there. That’s a huge red flag for me. Especially considering a pressure test is simple and easy.

This seems like a BS review. We are not sure who this person is? My swimming pool company was not contacted by him and I think he has erroneously confused us with another provider in Stamford with a similar name. The date on the service request from this review is from May 1, 2015? more than 3 years ago? Why would this person wait more than 3 years to file a bad review? Perhaps if we were contacted, he was told to find another provider as we only take on new accounts who are looking for full service (open, close and weekly maintenance).

We hired Rick Pinto Pools after a disasterous experience with our last pool service company. Needless to say I was hesitant to trust, but Rick Pinto Pools has definitely put our minds to rest. He made this pool season worry free enabling us to enjoy our pool. Our pool has never looked better. I found all Rick Pinto employees extremely helpful and professional. I appreciated when calling service Lenny taking time to ***** the situation in order to alleviate unnecessary service expenses. On several occasions we were able to trouble shoot the situation over the phone. I truly recommend Rick Pinto Pools as we look forward to working with them again next season.

I was referred to Rick Pinto Swimming Pools after having a horribly unprofessional experience with another local pool company. Dealing with Rick and Lenny was literally the complete opposite experience. They were a well oiled machine constantly in communication and very quick to answer questions. Once the quote came in lower than expected, hiring them was a no brainer. Within two weeks, Rick and his crew were at my home starting the job. I was shocked and impressed to find Rick himself working on my pool. He had pointed out an issue with the existing coping that potentially could have been thousands of dollars to replace. Somehow he was able to fix the coping which saved us a lot of money. Rick is an honest owner who takes pride in his work and it definitely shows. My old liner pool now looks beautiful. Highly recommend.

I have used Rick Pinto Pools since 2007 and have no complaints. It is one service that I don't need to think about at all. They arrive, perform their work and the pool is ready for swimming. Everything is smooth sailing week in and week out. I have had to replace the motor a few times (mechanical issue and not service related). Rick Pinto Pools responded quickly and got the pool back in working order in no time. A few years ago, I resurfaced the pool and deck area. Rick Pinto Pools completed the work on schedule and within budget. Again, I couldn't be happier with their service. Best part is talking to Lenny.
Description of Work: Rick Pinto Pools opens and closes the pool each year and provides weekly cleaning and maintenance. I pay an annual fee for this service of roughly $3,600.

We have used Rick Pinto for several years now after giving up on our previous pool company. Through the years, Rick have been very responsive to our phone calls if we feel there are any problems with our pool. Someone would often come over to look into the issue and they will let me know what needed to be done. Often times, Rick would show up himself to fix the issue (liner coming off or leaks etc.). We are very satisfy with his work and professionalism.

Exceptional! Rick is responsive and works with you on on projects. His men have always been professional. The price was EXACTLY as he quoted. The work was done on time. I have received so many compliments on the pool and the workmanship has lasted. Service is punctual. When I call, people are there within hours. I have no complaints. I can always get Lenny on the phone. Frankly, my experience with Rick is the only good experience in the construction field so far. I am so happy.
Description of Work: Rick Pinto has serviced my pools for years. He completely renovated my pool (resurfaced, added pool bench, added new filters, new jets, new coping, new decking), installed new heater and new pool pump. Installed an automatic pool cover and redesigned and built decking to accommodate (it is a free-form pool so this was challenging) Comes weekly for cleaning pool, winterizes and takes off pool cover in spring.

I am writing this review basically because I am shocked by the negative review that I saw here, and felt almost duty bound to refute it. Just this year, Pintos?s group, after opening my pool and vacuuming out all the junk that had gathered over the winter, discovered that there was a cracked/ruptured return line within the wall of the pool itself, basically rendering my entire filter system inoperative. Rick sent over a team that had to remove al the stone paving around the skimmer system, dug about a 6 foot deep hole to expose the side wall of the pool and the filter line, severed the faulty line from the skimmer, spiced in a new return line, buried THAT in a new trench that they dug running to the filter system? and managed to do it all a week before Memorial Day Weekend (clearly their busiest and most hectic time of year). I have been a customer of Rick Pinto Swimming Pools for a number of years, and have ALWAYS found their work to be excellent and fairly priced? This job was no exception?.If I felt otherwise, I would have found another pool company long before this. Somewhat of a do-it-yourselfer, I have called Rick with a problem, and he has told me what I could do to fix it myself if I wanted to try. Sometimes I did, and sometimes the task sounded a bit too daunting, and I let him do it.. The point is that most pool outfits would have blown the job up out of proportion, sent someone over to fix it, and then send me a huge bill (trust me, it has happened to me in the past). It?s nice to know that I am dealing with someone honest who is NOT simply interested in generating a work ticket and an invoice. I have come to trust him so completely that I have given him the code to my garage door so that he can get into my house to have access to water lines and stored equipment if he is going to be coming when I was not at home. Built initially by Shoreline Pools, my pool was a REALLY complex system that combined a hot tub/Jacuzzi with the pool itself, hooked up to a sand filter that NEVER got my water clear. Pinto replaced the sand filter with a DE filter, replaced a bunch of the valves, motors and levers of the manual system with a programmable Jandy, and the system ran beautifully and effortlessly, with the water looking like something that you would pour out a Poland Spring bottle. .His people have always shown up when he said they would, and he has always been clear about when different jobs could be started, and how long they would take (I also had him replace all the decking around my pool when they old decking started to crack badly). Granted, I do NOT know all the details of what happened with the person that slammed him in this other review, but I suspect that the problem is with him, and NOT Rick Pinto Pool Service. It is not unreasonable to expect to have to wait to start a major job well into the beginning of a very short season. If you want EVERYTHING done and finished on your pool on Memorial Day Weekend, you need to start making arrangements for it more than a week before the holiday (I know that I try to make my plans sometime in Early March to avoid the rush.. My pool gets opened in Late April to Mid May each year)? As the saying goes, ?If you snooze, you lose?. My pool season is important to me, and as a result, I try not to be the guy at the end of the line. More important is the care of the pool itself.. and after dealing with big pool companies as well as small ones, I can?t imagine what would make me go elsewhere. In my opinion, this guy?s outfit is tops.
Description of Work: Intially opened it up for the season, but found and repaired a ruptured return line...

This is the first time that I am writing a review but it would have been irreponsible on my part to fail to warn others about the shocking experience that I had with Rick Pinto Pool Service. The owner beautifully summarized the problem is an e-mail written to me on May 17, 2014, in which his exact words (and caps) were: "After forty years of operating a service business, the customer is NOT always right." You can easily imagine how a company with this kind of management treats its customers. I became a new customer in April, 2014 after the owner visited my home and promised to fix a problem with our pool. I beleive that he made such promise in order to get a new customer, but then treated me like dirt after I signed on. After promising to work on the problem immediately, the company informed me that it would take more than 2 months to start any work. After I sent several e-mails complaining about their lack of attention, the owner concluded the above e-mail by saying: "Please find another pool service going forward. We resign." I was thus left up the proverbial creek, as it is not easy to get another service provider to take over pool service at this time of the year. My pool is now green as I have not been able to find anyone else to clean it yet. Finally, as a final insult, the company overcharged by about 15% vs. the price that was offered when I signed up. Thus, as the owner so succintly stated in his e-mail to me, this is a company that thinks that its customers are wrong, and it acts exactly how you would expect from someone with that attitude. A company that cared about its customers would have made an effort to rectify the situation. These guys took the easy way out and just resigned when presented with an unsatisfied customer, and now my pool looks like Kermit has been swimming in it. Thanks, Rick. Anyone considering becoming a new customer of this company should only hire them if you like abuse.

Response from Rick Pinto Swimming Pools
This client is right, I will no longer service his account. I will not tolerate someone who threatens me in an attempt to get their own way, while taunting me with insulting E-mails. I joined Angie’s list because I am the owner of an excellent swimming pool service company and value the recognition. I was given this poor review, etc. because I would not succumb to this clients poor review threats and send a vacuum service tech to his leaking pool twice in the same day, once to leave his hose running, and then to go back to clean it later that same day, all at no additional charge. Space limitations within this response center prevent me from telling this entire story…We met in the beginning of April. He was told of our scheduling issues at that time. 11 days later, he decided to sign up with us and asked me about his leak again. I told him we could only test things upon opening up the pool, now at this late date, and would not be able to accomplish any type of complex repairs for 5 or 6 weeks. Depending upon the pressure testing results, perhaps we could run the pool for several weeks through temp. plumbing until we could make what was a very complicated repair. The pool was opened and the pipes tested. He agreed to wait, as he was told of our prior scheduling. Each and every time this man wrote to me, I was left feeling as though the problems that his pool was experiencing were in someway, somehow, my fault? I am trying to resolve all of the issues for this client. I completely understand frustration, but I am a human being as well, and I deserve to be treated with the same respect that was always given to him. As I mentioned, the end came one afternoon after more E-mailing, when he told me that I should send someone out two times for each cleaning visit, and maybe his old service (which he previously complained about) wasn’t so bad, as they would do that for free. Here is a quote from an email that day, taunting me about his leak, “when the pool is not full when you come to clean on Fridays, why don't you turn the hose on, leave, and then come back later to turn on the filter and heater? This is what the last guy did for us. I am starting to think that he was not so bad. At least he was honest and just told me that he didn't know how to fix the leak.” I have 40+ years of experience. I can fix this leak. Unfortunately, we already have a full schedule! He lives there but I am responsible for filling the pool? Why couldn’t he leave his hose on in the morning and we could turn it off later? After more discussion about his test results, I was reminded that the customer is always right. (did the customer preform the testing, in this case?) I had to disagree… I wouldn’t agree to the 2 trips per visit, at no additional cost, or fixing his pool, right away, I was threatened with a bad review on Angies List. This was an attempt for this client to “pressure me” into getting exactly what he wanted, right away. I told him that that was the end of this relationship…I have run successful service business’s for close to 40 years. I can only imagine the difficulties I would have been subjected to in trying to collect for this type of repair work, which is typically done on a time and material basis. We will not return to this property. We did not overcharge this man for anything. This man was serviced with all the respect, speed, courtesy and efficiency that all of my clients receive and have come to expect. Whenever he contacted us, he was responded to each and every time, within minutes, by myself, the owner of the company. When he requested something, my staff sprung into action, that day. I run a very tight operation and have a 99% success/return rate, outstanding in any service business. Many clients will seek out our skills and wait for an opening in our schedule. We are booked up because we ARE a great company. This company was built on word of mouth, over many years, long before the advent of the internet. I do not deserve this review and I am not surprised that this client would go to this length to try to damage my company. The 15% he mentions are charges for chemicals he needed to properly maintain the water balance in his pool. Not included in our price and very clearly stated on our Service Agreement. There are many other pool service providers in this area of Fairfield County. I can’t imagine it would be too difficult for him to find someone else, with his commanding use of his computer and the internet

Rick Pinto's team did a great job. I was very satisfied. This was my first year using their service and I found them here on Angie's List. When I called for information, Rick Pinto was the one who came to the house to look at my in-ground spa. He quickly showed experience and knowledge in working with this type of residential setup. My spa is typical of many so there were no big surprises. His price estimate was in writing and the billing matched the estimates exactly; no billing surprises. The 2 guys who came to do the work in the Spring to open the spa and in the Fall to close it were very professional, clean and much more professional than the last company I had here for service. I will certainly expect to stay with Rick Pinto for the coming seasons based on this initial experience.
Description of Work: Closed out the in-ground spa for the season. I have a small 600 gallon in-ground heated spa which requires winterization if you choose not to run the heater all winter.

After no response for 2 weeks following initial contact, I thought I'd give them one more shot since they have good reviews here. They'd just "been busy". OK then. After providing an estimate, I followed up with additional questions and they said, you know what, it's not worth it to us, we'll pass. So I give them a Fail for punctuality and responsiveness. As for their work, who knows.

Response from Rick Pinto Swimming Pools
We occasionally receive a call from someone using a cell phone that is simply not complete within the messaging center. Perhaps this could explain any lack of response? It is true, we passed on this one after viewing the site. This client fails to mention that his filter and equipment that we would need to have access to, in order to properly service his spa weekly, is in the basement of the home. When asked about this, we were told the only availability we would have to that area inside of the house would be on "most Friday's or a weekend". We simply could not accommodate that limited availability, as all of the Friday spots had been filled months earlier in the season.

Rick Pinto has been servicing our pool for a number of years. His pricing is very fair for both weekly service as well as repairs. They show up when they say they will and take care of the job. If something is not right, it is taken care of quickly. There is always someone on the other end of the phone who takes care of customers. They are a good company and customer-focused.
