MIKE'S SEPTIC SERVICE

I didn't realize that septic tanks had to be pumped. When toilet backed up I called Mike. He came the next (very cold) day, had to find the tank, worked like **** to break up years of sludge, pumped it out and didn't charge me extra for my stupidity. I'm a fan.

Mike was prompt, incredibly efficient and knowledgeable. Unlike previous septic services that ripped up my front yard trying to find the septic tank, Mike found it in 30 seconds, removed the dirt and kept the grass layer intact so everything went back just the way he found it. A consummate pro with many years' experience.

In august 2016 i hired Mike's Septic (Mike Maiorino owner, Norwalk) with a set price and timeline. I requested estimate in writing (in writing - several times), and informed him of very strict time-line. Was never given any estimate or work-order or even invoice till after. His price was average for this area. His crew consists of 3-4 people that are not certified, not licensed to do the work (yet they do all of the work), - and Mike does not show up unless he absolutely has to... When he does, he is there for no more than 5 minutes. Also in addition, he has no problem yelling and screaming and causing issues for the homeowner while there. He has no issues trying to "change" the original agreement - claiming owner is a liar etc. His crew showed up for 1-3 hours at the time, days - something weeks apart, spending most of that time on the cell phone doing "other business or personal calls), sometimes just one person shuffling dirt around. When asked - this person claimed he had no idea what to do, he was just asked to be there because they didn't need him at the "other job". Mike delayed the project to more than triple time line - and "completed" the work (according to him) 2 months late. However - the tanks were still completely exposed in the driveway... and health department would not pass the project. This delayed my CO process with over 10 months. In addition he delayed other contractors several weeks - claiming they did not do their job, - yet i have proof that they showed up on time, ready to go, but were not able to due to Mike and Mike's crew... He has placed a lot of smaller rocks in one area - that kept falling down into the area where cars are parked, he made the leeching field impossible to access, apr 8 feet above grade with a 80 degree edge, and severe erosion took place at the first day of rain... I did however receive an invoice immediately after his "completion" - for the absolute max amount we had discussed, and he did not credit for the expenses (i paid for the materials on my personal credit card). When i deducted these expenses - AND PAID HIM IN FULL EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT COMPLETE THE JOB - he put a lien on our house. He is now suing to close this lien - the problem is that he is not legally allowed to place a lien without a contract in place. I however now have to hire a lawyer and spend an additional $5k to $30k proving that he is not entitled to do so - it is my responsibility to prove him wrong... DCP has been advised - but unable to help much other than enforce technical issues - like making him backfill over the tanks in the driveway... it only took 9 months to achieve, but it finally happened at their request. He was also asked to provide the accurate accompanying paperwork to the health department - which he had also failed to do. WARNING: Mike Maiorino has called and contacted several people on several occasions - that I work with spreading unfounded lies, accusations etc. He has also threatened to sabotage the system on the property if I don't pay up! He has in addition to this threatened physical harm, at which point I filed a police report on the issue. This is till on-going...

I gave Mike's all A's because he did an excellent job!

Called on a Saturday due to drains backing up in basement. Charges an additional $50 for same day/emergency call for a cleaning, very reasonable for Fairfield County. Mike the owner answered the phone for emergency calls, showed up and did the work himself. Fast...he offered to be over in an hour but we had children's games to attend to and came later in day as requested. Very efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Did not up sell any services. Found a clog in the main line and cleared it a no extra charge beyond the tank cleaning. He even gave us the 10% off coupon from his website for service...made it the price of a regular call/appointment. Very pleased with his professional and down to earth service. I don't usually write reviews, but his guy deserves the good reviews and the business that comes along with them. Strongly recommend...will use again and refer to others.

Great! They were quick to schedule, on time, got the job done quickly, and didn't berate us for being so behind in cleaning out our septic!

Mike was great. Came at very short notice (he was in the area) and very flexible about where to park truck because our driveway belgian blocks have been destroyed by previous truck drivers. Tank (very old cess pool) is just behind house, but instead of pulling all the way in our narrow, curvy driveway, he left truck near the street and just ran his hose across front lawn. A few extra lengths of hose were needed... not a big deal he said. We negotiated a price right on the spot and he was able to keep it to the budget I had set. Quite professional & cooperative. I didn't look at the bottom of the tank carefully, so I can't really say if he cleaned the tank as well as my previous company (who did nice work) did but I guess we'll see as time goes on.

The system started to leak in 7 months and there was an abnormal amount of sludge in the bottom of the tank and the filter looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. We are only 3 people in the house and have been told a pump out and cleaning should hold us for 2 years. Mike's work barely lasted 7 months. We will NEVER use them again. The other service provider we used (Kaiser Battistone) was much more thorough and did a much better job.

Called to schedule quote for septic replacement. After a second follow up call to obtain an appointment, no one called or showed up the day they scheduled to come to the house. Very disappointing.

We purchased our home last year and come to find out, Mike's Septic serviced the system since it's inception! Yes! Come to find out, he actually installed it nearly 15 years ago and remember exactly where everything was. It was such a relief to us, as he took the time to go over every little detail about the system for our knowledge. We thought we would need some minor things, however, he assured us that the system is perfect and will most likely outlive us! (We are putting an addition onto our home and we wanted to verify that the system could take 2 more bathrooms. He was thoughtful, sincere and generous, as he never asked for a penny. That is first class in my book! Thanks Mike!

This was the first time we used them. They are a family business. They were friendly and professional. I do wish they were able to find our tank without poking holes in our yard but they know where the tank is now and we will use them again.

These guys were the definition of professionalism. They got a difficult job done (my groundskeeper "lost" the septic tank) I would absolutely recommend them. Super nice, reliable and affordable.

He is very good. Just a plain old knowledgeable professional. I have a very old septic system and he gives me clear explanations and important advice on keeping it working well. I've not had a problem in the three years I've owned the house and I'm confident that it will keep functioning well because of his information.

Septic tank was changed with in one day which was great. There was no issue regarding our household routine. Very Professional. The rest of the work was done within one week.

I called Mike to get the collapsed septic pipe replaced. The dove in and fixed the pipe temporally until he could get me on his schedule to replace the collapsed orange berg pipe in my yard. Mike came in found the pipe. and had it done 1-2-3!!! Him and his crew were great, funny and the price was great.

Very friendly and professional. Performs work quickly. We had a perennial garden installed recently where they hook up to our septic, and nothing was touched. We first used this company about 3 years ago soon after we bought the house and there was a problem, and they came out right away and fixed it. He also recommended to change some piping when we re-did the driveway, and when we did it last year, it was rusted through - saved us money long term because it would have been a big problem (house was built in 1920's).
