Would urge anyone to look for any alternative to Lang Pools. I stupidly ignored all the prior negative reviews posted because my contractor recommended I use Lang, but wish I hadn’t. PROJECT: Hired in Sept 2024 to a) re-plaster a 20’ x 40’ in-ground pool, b) replace the water filter and, c) remove and replace 120’ of 2” bluestone coping around the pool edge. OVERALL GRADE: D- MAIN ISSUES: No job supervision, sloppy work at every stage of the work, complete disregard for protection of my property—causing damage (more below), low quality masonry work and joints, forgot key job tasks, broke promises and was not truthful multiple times, gave no notice of critical after plaster care until job was done. The plaster finish is highly uneven, with streaking, blotches and more variation than is to be expected with new plaster—when i observed this, I was told that “it will take about 16 months” to normalize. COMMUNICATIONS: "Construction Manager" Jeff was unreachable and was only on site for about 10 minutes total--over 3 weeks. Just made excuses and only occasionally responded to text messages. Did not ever give me a timetable, and subcontractor workers who were on property spoke very poor English and had no idea. Employee Ron told me 8 days on. Day 3, but pool was actually finished 22 days later. There was a full week where nobody showed up and i had. no idea why. SAFETY zero precautions taken. Exposed masonry nails left nailed into pool deck, 9’ deep pool left empty for weeks with no barrier or caution tape/cones, dirty construction water pumped into protected stream daily. DAMAGE: used a circular saw to cut bluestone coping sections, but without base protection, so they cut into existing deck with saw in 3 different locations. Left concrete bags and concrete sand on driveway in piles for 3 weeks—rainstorms created hardened concrete on my driveway that I am still trying to remove with acids. See a few before and after photos of my pool deck—a complete mess was left by Lang—cement hard set all over the pool deck and then could not remove it so I had to hire my own mason to try. Bonding material was left on new tile and various other painted surfaces. FOLLOW THROUGH: only at the very end of the job was i told that it was critical that the plaster had to be brushed at least once daily and to have the water chemistry balanced immediately and then every other day. Lang Pools did not do this or even offer to do this—it was left to me. When told them that it was impossible for me to do, I offered to pay Lang to do it. They agreed but never followed though. Pool was not brushed for 4 days until I could secure a brush for myself and get another. company to do it, as I waited every day for them to come. OTHER: 1) I asked them to arrange a port-a-john on site for the workers and that I would pay for. Lang did not. Instead, workers used the area behind the pool equipment for personal relief for about 3 weeks. 2) Lang used polymeric sand for coping expansion joint—better vendors all use silicon. I will also have to replace this myself. 3) put chlorine into pool immediately after water fill. Chlorine should not be put into a newly plastered pool for a minimum of 48 hours. 4) didnt have garden hoses and used 2 of mine, both new, which now look like they are 20 years old. Workers asked me for duct tape, pliers and channel locks during the course of the renovation. There are no circumstances under which I would ever hire Lang Pools to do anything. PHOTOS of just the pool deck, and new coping, before Lang and after Lang. The photos were taken AFTER Lang Pools came back to repair pool deck after my complaints about the conditions they left at my home.

Lang Pools build our swimming pool in May 2005, The experience was professional from start to finish. We still have the same liner in pool. the same filter and pump and we often are in the store to discuss our pool and everyone is always helpful. Lang Pool opens and closes our pool but maintenance is a breeze with the automation of pool.

Response from Lang Pools, Inc.
Sorry you feel this [Member Information Removed]. Lang Pools has replaced thousands of liners in our 24 year history and we state no replacement liner can be guaranteed 100% wrinkle free. We replaced this vinyl liner on an older pool with vinyl covered steps in very wet cool weather. We explained there are no wrinkles in this pool. Liner has memory in it from box which will come out when pool is filled to proper level and weather warms. These are items out of our control. Client claimed they could not use their own hose to add only 1" -2"of water to pool. Our job is fill pool to level needed for liner to be set. We are confident client will have a nice liner in pool for many years to come.

Description of Work: Lang refurbished our inground liner pool, including redoing our pool decking. We are very pleased with the result of the job they did. Their people were all very competent and pleasurable to have working at our home.
