They are amazing! They provide us with a heating service plan, an electrical service plan, and a planning service plan. The cost was part of the service plan and so, it was free. The price of the service plan is very reasonable too. The annual fee does the furnace, the heating system, the plumbing and electrical. Electrical is somewhere between $300 to $500. It is incredible! I couldn't believe how good they are. It is a service worth having. It has made our lives much easier.

They are ok. They did what they did at the time. The maintenance man could have more information on what they have to do at the time. There was a miscommunication. Normally they are a good company. I have a contract with them.

Nothing yet - been three days in the cold. Company refusing to do anything. Called WESCO insurance to file a claim. They said an agent will call within 2 days. I explained that residents were old, cold, and one had to go to hospital today. Still Nothing.
Description of Work: Insurance for your house by AARP is a fraud. If regular contractors not available then will not try others. Finally got a guy who found a crack inside the heater. Said a pipe needed to be replaced. Company said they do not do replacements - just repairs - even if the repair requires a replacement. That is ridiculous answer. Anything that breaks is going to need some new part usually.

They are good. Some of their people are not as good as others. They have different levels of service people. Some are much better than the others. If you get the one, then everything's great. The price is very good. If you get the better people, the quality is excellent. That was a little good. They came when they said they would come out. They may not be the best person but they are always very professional and nice.
Description of Work: We use HomeServe for heating and AC. They come every year. They do tune-up and take care of the air conditioning and the heating.

As luck would have it, our wonderful new home has been plagued by plumbing and heating issues. I have called HomeServe 5 times since July, 2015, and each time, the rep was incredibly helpful. The plumber that they have sent each time has been exceptional, and professional. In a heat wave, our A/C was back running within 4 hours. This time, on a brutally cold day, they had our heat back on within 2 hours! I cannot imagine how much money this would have cost me had I not had this policy. I will NEVER go without our HomeServe heating/cooling policy, and have actually purchased all the other policies I could get for our home since our experience was so great. Thank you HomeServe!
Description of Work: HomeServe scheduled the service person to come, the technicians they have in network were fantastic, and I had no bill at the end. My policy is $10.99 / month. SO worth it. It would have cost us 6 times that already had we not had this plan.

This review is for the Homeserve heating repair service on Long Island, NY. I had a no heat emergency when we awoke on Monday AM and called Homeserve. They gave me a window of noon to 4PM and arrived in that period as promised. The tech was a very knowledgeable young man who spotted the issue immediately-a valve had leaked onto the "brain" controlling the entire heating system destroying it- no heat or hot water. I have a 4 zone system, meaning 4 separate zones and circulators requiring a control center with 4 separate relays. He did not have the part on his truck, but did install one that he did have as a temporary fix so we would have some heat. He got the 2 main zones working so we were not freezing. He went above and beyond as far as I am concerned, installing something he knew would later be removed and replaced. He called in the repair order while he was here and told me the part was in stock and that I would be receiving a call tomorrow AM to set up the repair. Well, at 6:30 AM (a little early, perhaps, but I was very happy) Homeserve called and set up the appointment. At 10:00 AM Homeserve delivered the part and later that day the tech arrived and installed the new part. He thoroughly tested all the zones and made sure they were working properly. The entire experience was very professional with knowledgeable techs who arrived on time and performed very well. There was no charge, since I have a yearly contract with them. As far as Homeserve Long Island is concerned they get an A+ from me.

When I spoke they told me they don't provide furnace checks at all. I think that is really awful and people need to be warned. Furnaces need to be checked every year. I know as a medical professional that Carbon-monoxide poisoning increases dramatically at the beginning of the cold weather every year due to people turning their furnaces on and not realizing the gas or carbon monoxide leaking. I had been with UGI for 20 years and they checked my furnace every year so I was shocked to learn that HomeServe doe not offer this as part of their plan.

I was without power from 11:30am-7pm, when I called Homeserve they said someone would be there within 2 hours, said he would come out Monday but I was without power. I gave the receptionist my cell number because I did not have power, and they told me that I had to wait another hour or two because enough time had not passed for the contractor to arrive, the receptionist was as nice as can be. Then the contractor named Chester (who was attempting to be intimidating by reminding me that my call was being recorded more than once) said that the technician was not able to get a hold of me, after I asked him what number they called it was my home phone, when they knew my power was out! This whole situation was long and drawn out unnecessarily.

This wound up being much more complicated then it need be and required three visits. First to diagnose the issue. Second was to replace one part. The third visit was required because not all parts which should have been replaced were. But after all was said and done the job was completed. I wound up talking with a case manager in, I assume, the vice-president's office. It turns out he did ultimately hear of the issues I was dealing with in getting the boiler fixed. The case manager listened, was friendly and left me feeing that she was in my court wanting to help me out. It's nice to talk with someone who can communicate over the phone a sincere desire to help you out. The problem that needed resolution was resolved and the company was generous in its recompense for the extra time I had to spend in getting the problem resolved. The case manager turned a problem into an opportunity, or, to say it another way, turned a negative into a positive. The sort of thing that goes a good ways in communicating a positive message. All in all I plan to stay with this company. In owning a rental I have a responsibility to repair the boiler as quickly as can be if the furnace boiler decides it does not want to work. Winter doesn't go on vacation and when you have tenants they are not concerned about when or how the boiler is repaired they just want it repaired. They have the right to that expectation because they are paying for an apartment with a working heating system. As long as the tenants do their job of paying their rent and I do my job of maintenance everybody is happy. So having a company standing behind me ready to repair my boiler helps me do my job.

Customer service refused to provide contact information for a vice-president who signed the letter asking me to be a customer. | |What I can say is that once I managed to figure how to contact the vice-president then they were very responsive, said they would absorb the bill and offered a gift card. Now a bill did arrive. Hopefully they will have fulfill the promise and all will be settled.

elease forms.From the very beginning the work was sub-standard after being warned that the gas line ran in the exact same location that was being dug up they managed to rip it up anyhow. They installed the new clean out instead of at or near ground level as per code installed it about a foot above ground level. As part of replacing the clean out they had to remove part of my sidewalk that I had to have replaced last year due to it sinking into the ground creating a sidewalk zoning violation. Now I am being advised that since this clean out was not installed to code I am going to have to replace it. My recommendation to anyone if they use this service to install anything make sure either the code or have a code officer verify everything is up to code before signing and r

I have an annual contract. I use them for annual service on my furnace. I have called for one emergency service when the heat did not kick on. The service people are nice and seem to know what they are doing. I do not like that they do not initiate any correspondence with me. They just automatically renew the service contract. No reminder, no nothing. They also don't send me anything to schedule my annual tune up. I have to week through paperwork to find a phone number to call and schedule. Their communications can be a lot better. They are probably middle of the pack with pricing. I'm going to find a smaller company to contract with. I think I'll get better service.

When you take out a home heating service contract with HomeServe they provide a heating tuneup. Called on Sept. 5 and received an appt. for Oct 10. Few days before that I received a voice mail confirming my appt. for the wrong date. Called them about this and they rescheduled for tomorrow (Oct 21). I called them today to confirm. They had no record of tomorrow's appt. but one for Dec. 26. Spoke to supervisor and waited for him to call me back . No one ever did so I cancelled my contract this evening. Anyone thinking about doing business with this company, think twice.

Description of Work: I use this provider's insurance coverage for potential repairs required due to water problems. I noticed water seeping up from my garage floor and thought a pipe was leaking. I contacted home serve and they sent a plumber to inspect within 2 hours of my call. The plumber determined it was ground water seepage, and not a pipe issue. There was no charge for the service and inspection. T

Very professional. tested, cleaned and balanced the ducts air flow. Went into attic, cleaned and changed filters.

I really do feel that Homeserve is a scam. Every time I tried to schedule a annual "checkup" for my A/C unit or heating unit it would take weeks until they could find an available date. Then they would tell me - okay, they'll be there between 8-12. MULTIPLE times I would wait around all morning and then at 11:30am they would call me and say "the weather isn't good, so we have to cancel." A few times they didn't show up and I would call them, and their answer was, "oh, we have you scheduled from 1-5pm today." They are so incompetent! They were the most frustrating people to work with. After many phone calls, we finally decided to cancel our contract. About 5-6 months after we did that, we realized that they were still charging us. I called back and they told me that I had to specifically call their cancellation department (apparently just telling them I wanted to cancel wasn't enough). So they continued to charge us. Of course, I eventually got that money back, but they really have the worst customer service. I would encourage everyone to stay away from this company. They are not useful when you need them, and just basically take your money. Learn from my mistakes.
Description of Work: We had a contract with Homeserve for our A/C and heating units. In theory, we paid a certain amount and we could schedule biannual "checkups" for those units and intermittent service as needed. We only were able to schedule that 2-3x in the 2 years that we had the contract.

They are very prompt, within a few hours the people they pick in my area are with me. They deal with a lot of different people in all walks of life. They call me, and then they get an appointment, and if it is an emergency they come over like within 24 hours. Their price depends upon what kind of service is used. The above mentioned two services are the only ones that I have used, they have about six or eight that they cover, e.g., gas line, electrical, heating and air conditioning, etc. The only two I have had occasionally used and I am very satisfied with is the internal plumbing and drainage. They are very good. I do not know that they are always going to use this one particular plumber, but the plumber was very prompt and courteous. He was very nice. At another time if I have the same problem, they probably have two or three other plumbing contractors in the area, and if this one is tied up for some reason I guess they will use one of the others. Their quality of service is excellent, as I said it was a sewer line stuffed up in one of my sink and I called them, they contacted whoever they use in my area and that guy, the plumber in this case, called me within an hour. He then made an appointment to come in the next day. They were very courteous and very prompt.
Description of Work: My kitchen sink was stuffed up and Home Serve USA got it cleaned. The sewer and septic service, they have also come for that.

I called because I couldn't get heat higher than 60 degrees. I have a service contract with them. Temp outside was 4 degrees. They informed me that because I had some heat they could only give me an appointment 2 weeks later!!! I called another source for service within an hour UPDATE: A rep called (3/314 )to ask about my negative experience. She was upset to learn that I was told 60 degrees was considered sufficient heat for a non emergency call. She said 65 degrees was the point below which an emergency call was provided. She also noted that I initially mentioned I was 83 years old and that, too, should have provided immediate attention. As a result, she sent me a check repaying the entire year's service. Yes, the experience was bad, but I think the effort to make amends was exceptional. I am, therefore, changing my ratings from F.

The whole time I felt like we were getting the runaround and not getting any help fixing the issue. I'm now trying to fix the issue by going through my insurance company and the company that originally installed the system years ago.
Description of Work: A pipe to our well had burst and we contacted them because they are our home warranty company. They had sent out three general plumbers but not any well specialists. Each plumber said they didn't know anything about a well and did not service wells. One of them finally told me that he could tell that the whole system would have to be replaced due to the damage to the well.
