Steve and the crew at H&J Roofing were great. I’ve had a recurring leak that we weren’t able to get to the bottom of. After getting a few different estimates to replace part of our roof, I called Steve after he was recommended by a friend. He came out quickly and gave us his recommendation and a competitive price. Steve and his crew were friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to match our roof shingles to existing colors to make sure everything matched nicely and completed the job quickly. Great quality of work and no more leaks! Would highly recommend H&J for any roofing needs!

The owner showed up and gave a verbal quote. After requesting a quote in writing and approving it, no response. Called multiple times, both cell and business phones. Left messages. Was told would get a call back, yet no response. Very bad experience.

Cont.: I had called H&J Roofing, LLC twice before and you responded to my calls by sending someone to fix the problems. Despite that effort, the work performed was so poorly done that it did not fix or resolve the original problems, and resulted in more additional problems. On May 24, 2017 I mailed a register letter detailing all of the problems but, as of today, August 18, 2017 hadn’t hear a response from H&J Roofing, LLC. On Refer to a detail description of the problems below: 1. The 2X3 leaders (down spouts and extensions) and elbow are coming off and loose from the house. Refer to Photos: 1, 5, 6. 2. End of the screws and/or nails are showing and coming thru the leaders and seamless gutters. These screws and/or nails shouldn’t go through the gutters/ladders. This looks terrible and is poor workmanship. But, what concerns me more important is that it creates holes in which the water can filter through the gutters and ladders creating a pouring of water in the wrong place. Refer to Photos: 1, 2, 3, 4. 3. The Ladders are poorly held together by rocks and an ADT sign so it won’t move. 4. The gutter in the front of the house (near to the front door) does not align with the ladder (down spouts and extensions). This leaves a big gap between the gutter and the ladder in which water drips between them. Refer to Photos: 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9. 5. The ladders are coming off and/or loose. Refer to Photos: 5, 6. 6. The worker installed the ladder in the side of the house and secured with rocks and a sign from ADT so, it will not get loose. Refer to Photos: 10, 11, 12 7. The ladder in the left side was installed backwards. The top side should have been placed in the bottom. Refer to Photos: 13, 14 8. The ladder in the side of the house was cut to short. Refer to Photos: 15, 16 I chose to hire H&J roofing, LLC because of the great reviews in Angie’s List and the initial interview with the owner which was very positive. But, to my disappointment the work performed installing the gutters was defective and poor workmanship I am attaching photos as proof of the poor workmanship in the installation of the gutters in my home. In addition, H&J roofing, LLC doesn’t complete the duties set forth in the contractual agreement that we signed. The signed Contract Agreement between myself and H&J Roofing, LLC that states the following: WARRANTY ‘…the CONTRACTOR shall remedy any defects due to faulty materials or improper workmanship completed by the CONTRACTOR that appears within a period of (10) years from the date of final billing.’ I would NOT RECOMMMEND H&J Roofing to anyone based in the poor workmanship in the installation of the gutters in my home. I hope that your company will remedy the necessary solutions to fix and correct all gutter issues and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Everything was fine. They showed up when they said they would, finished within the time frame on their quote. The crew cleaned up the roofing related debris completely. The work was done as promised.

We were referred to H&J a number of years ago and have appreciated the personalized service we have received each time.

Steve and his crew were amazing. First of all, Steve was responsive to every email I sent within 24 hours. Second, he gave me a fair price, and his crew started and ended on time. The new roof looks great.

Steve came in at one of the better prices (but not the lowest) of the roofers we asked for estimates but he was definitely the most knowledgeable and professional of the roofers asked. Our roof is cedar and our roof line is complicated and Steve and his crew did a great job making sure everything was done correctly. His crew chief (forgot his name) is very professional and quickly brings up issues/problems and also makes sure they are resolved quickly and correctly. Very professional crew chief. The job was done essentially on time with no surprises. Only complaints are that (1) Steve is sometimes a little slow to respond to emails/texts and (2) Steve's crew didn't really help repair a 3rd story window as promised (that said, he made up for it by having his crew stop by to put in scaffold when we did find a carpenter to fix the window). Would recommend him to others.

I was immediately impressed with Steve Dumas's experience and expertise. He spotted all the issues with our roof and explained how he was going to fix them. I was pleased to hear he was going to be able to do the job despite winter coming on fast. And he did. His seasoned crew worked very efficiently losing almost no time to extreme cold weather. They did the large flat "easy" roofs first, then the harder angled gables, and finally the cone turret and octagonal gazebo with new weathervane. I feel confident we have a better roof now than we ever had before. It is true -- his was not the lowest estimate we got, but as I did cut corners on the roofer last time and you do get what you pay for.

I hired this contractor to do the garage roof because it was over 20 years old and recommended by the inspector. He said it would be $2800 and $75 for a sheet of plywood if necessary and $60 if over a certain amount. It was the lowest price by $700 so we went with them. Turns out, this roof didn't have any plywood. They had to cover the entire garage with plywood before putting the shingles on the roof. They did a great job with the roof, were on time (The first day), and cleaned up after themselves. They said it would take a half day but it ended up taking 2 because of the plywood. No problem. They did what they said they would do and how they said they would do it. The reason I gave this company a B instead of an A is because the communication with them was horrible. I realize I am not the only customer, but getting in contact with Steve, the boss, was not easy and, often times, I felt like I was being blown off. One example of that was at around 1 PM, 6 hours after they started, I got an email saying that they wouldn't finish today because they all have family outings. They cleaned up after themselves, but it would have been nice to know that it was a possibility in the morning. He said they would be back between 8 and 9 the next morning to finish, but no one was there at 9:30 and I had to email him and call his answering service to get a response. He then said the guys were running late. That's something a customer needs to know before it happens. And often times, he wouldn't respond at all. I asked him to look at a side project and he gave me a price. When I asked to negotiate, he didn't respond back. Blowing people off because you don't want to negotiate with them is not okay. I would highly recommend this company for the overall quality of work, but they need to communicate with their customers in a more timely fashion.

Removed 2 layers of old roof and replaced complete roof. Overall excellent work. Like most contractors some communication time lags but was on time with the job and on quote. Additional work and materials required due to rotted plywood was fairly quoted. Would hire again.

They did a great job. They were very neat. He fixed the problem. He gave us a good solution. I think the price was fair.

Steve and his team did a great job. They were punctual, efficient and clean - all at a great price. They even hauled away some extra building material trash I had laying around for me. I only have one minor complaint - Steve was a little slow in responding to emails.

Fantastic! Steve was so responsive. We are moving and had a surprise leak in our roof. A timely fix was essential. Steve returned my call on the same day. He scheduled a visit to see the situation for the next day and was on time. Then scheduled the repairs for the following day and was on time again, did the repairs promptly, and charged a fair rate. We would give him an A+ if we could! He's a real professional.

Steve and his crew did an excellent job replacing part of my roof. Steve gave me an honest assessment of my roof and did not try to sell me more than I needed. I appreciate that he gave me several different options to solve my roofing problem. When the job started they were fast and efficient. They cleaned up very well and the roof looks great. I highly recommend them.

There was no work performed, and I dont typically like to cast blame but I think if I was that service provider, I would work a little harder at getting back in touch with my customers.

The representative was very friendly and professional and said that someone would get back to us shortly to schedule an appointment as soon as the weather permitted. It's been over a week and a half, and we never heard back from H and J Roofing.

Immediate response. In my opinion, vendor went beyond what needed to be done. He had to tear off existing shingles (which would then require replacement) to see what the problem was. The original quote (based on what he surmised might be wrong [broken vent pipe allowing water to get in -- which turned out not to be the case]) was $400. Instead, it turned out to be shingles that had broken down allowing water to get under flashing. Work was considerably more than estimated: replace rotted plywood, put down a new membrane (of course, the new shingles). Additionally, he put down an extra rubber membrane around the fan and vent flashing to double ensure that this would not happen again. Replacing plywood was also unanticipated. Still honored his original quote. Extremely timely response from the time I called him to time work was completed. Very professional.

Since they did their work, we have had no issues with the roof...nice job!

This team was great. They cleaned up every day and did everything that was agreed to. They were absolutely the very best roofers that I have known. I think everyone should use them whenever they have roofing work to be done.

We used them through a big deal on Angie's List. It was very good. I don’t know if there was anything in particular that was outstanding. They just did a good job of getting the work done and coming on time when they were supposed. The work seems satisfactory. Right now, it seems to be fine. There are no more leaks. Everything worked out fine. The price was reasonable. They were willing to work out what was best as far as price for what we needed to get done. The big deal was for $149. We ended up spending about $1000 including the $149 coupon.

After a slow start, the folks at H&J showed up as promised and completed the job quickly, efficiently and in a very professional manner. The finished product looks very good. I will be checking my attic during the next storm to look for leaks, but based on the work done, I believe my problem has been remedied.

It didn't go very well. There were little repairs I wanted done. He came in and just looked at the roof. He said that I needed a new roof. He sent me an estimate for the roof. I could have gotten any roofer to come, look at the roof and say that I need a new roof. He did nothing. He just told me that I needed a new roof and left. He showed up very quickly. I had no complaints about that. I did get a new roof but not from him. His pricing was low. If he could have gotten it done at that price, it would have been a good buy. I would not definitely use them in the future.

Since I was expecting a tune-up on the roof and all I received was a visual inspection and estimate to replace the roof it went poorly. I spent 149 dollars for something that most contractors will do for free. After discussions with the contractor he refunded the $149.00.

It went very well. He addressed every area that needed attention and covered under the "tune up" package. He also pointed out that the flashing around my chimney would need replacement soon. When I am ready to do that I will contact H&J.
