Devine Brothers performed the requested actions, but gave me incorrect information, breached customer confidentiality, jeopardized the sale of the house and, ultimately, cost me $3500. Their behavior was unethical and unprofessional. The service and heat exchanger inspection was performed on a Thursday. I called the service manager the next day, and was told that there was no crack visible in the heat exchanger and the furnace was operating just fine. He said he would provide a written report the following Monday. I relayed that information to the realtor. The buyer also called Devine Brothers. Since the buyer is not the customer, Devine Brothers shouldn't have talked to the buyer at all. Instead, not only did Devine Brothers give out customer information to unauthorized party, they also gave them a different story! They told the buyer that the heat exchanger might be cracked and that the furnace was old and should be replaced! The following Monday, the buyers' attorney called my attorney, demanding that I replace the furnace altogether. I was shocked. I called Devine Brothers, and talked to both the service manager (who confirmed that there was no visible evidence of a crack in the heat exchanger) and his boss. Both admitted that they shouldn't have talked to the buyer. Demands for a refund of my service contract have gone unanswered. As a result, in order to sell the house, I now have to replace the furnace at a cost of $3500 out of my pocket. The Devine Brothers team thought they could get a job out of the inspection, but instead, I've cancelled the contract and am using another supplier to replace the furnace, which is not necessary, but because Devine Brothers provided the buyer with contradictory information, I now have no choice, if I want to sell the house. This firm is completely untrustworthy.
