Email request for service. Response/agree to appointment < hour. Arrived at my home within 3 hours, and repair completed promptly. Provider also gave tips on using the machine more efficiently and informed about what might be future concerns based on the age of the appliance and his experience with it and the manufacturer. Part required cost $70 + $100 service call + labor based on time + tax - Angie's courtesy. I thought the service was 10% too expensive, but the promo response and competent service placated me. Mr Ford was pleasant and I recommend him.

Paul was here about an hour and I feel he charges fairly and is an honest man. His response was quick when I contacted him through Angie's List. He is a very friendly and knowledgeable provider who also cleans up after the work. I would definitely call him for any other future appliance repair we may need.
Description of Work: Hi fixed my 2011 Whirlpool refrigerator that was leaking water from the front bottom. He knew about this problem and that it had to do with a drain hose part in the back of the Frig. not having a diameter wide enough to properly drain water from the ice-maker connection in the freezer. He also educated me as to the importance of vacuuming underneath these units fairly frequently so you don't lose a condenser and have to buy a new refrigerator. He gave me other information about the workings of and maintenance of refrigerators in general (tips). He has experience with all types of appliance repair as he and his family were in the business or many years.

Marty, who works for Paul did an EXCELLENT job. Arrived on time, was friendly, professional and had the parts already for the repair so that I didn't have to wait to have the repair done. I was kind of embarrassed that the inside of the dryer was so dusty, but he went right to work with a smile. Honestly, one does not find that quality of customer service much these days, and at a price that I could afford. I plan on telling EVERYONE what a great repair service this is . And they will be the first ones I contact if another appliance stops working!! Only wish I could go higher than an " A" I would give them overall an A+++++++++++++.

Having Mr. Ford repair my 17 year old Whirlpool refrigerator saved me at least $400. He arrived within the timeframe he predicted on the phone and got right to work. I really appreciated the fact that he explained what he was doing and why as he worked. He took care to make sure that the unavoidable mess was contained as much as possible. He had the necessary replacement part on his truck--thus saving a lot of time on the job overall. I will definitely call him if I have another appliance go down in the future. I trust his judgment.

I called about 8:30am and left a message describing my problem. Paul called me back within the hour and said he could handle the belt replacement that day. He called once on he was on his way and arrived shortly after. I wasn't sure if the nattily dressed gentleman who showed up at the door in a fedora and Bermuda shorts was going to repair my dryer or offer me a marguerita, but he went straight to his work, was quick, neat, obviously knowledgable , and he gave me the impression that he enjoys what he does. He answered my questions from the sideline about how a dryer works and handed out some additional advice about dryer vent safety. The best thing is that i felt felt good about the repair after he left, not insecure or wondering if I had been taken advantage of or paid for something that was unnecessary.

Our ancient dishwasher in a new house stopped working and I called Paul for repair - using the serial number, he was able to tell me that the machine was more than 20 years old and not worth the repair or cost of his visit. Since we were about to do a kitchen renovation, he was also very helpful in discussing new appliances - all this without any charge. Needless to say: excellent service and I was very grateful!!

The man who came to the house was friendly, professional and knew what he was doing. I had another repairman attempt to fix the problem some months previous, and his solution worked for a short time. This time, the inside tub of the diswasher was dismantled and the problem was really fixed. I joined Angie's List for this problem and I couldn't be more pleased.

The stove that was repaired is in a house I own, but rent out. I was anxious to have the stove repaired in time for the holidays, and is was. A company that performs in an emergency gets extra credit from me. Because it is a rental house and I can't always be there when repairs or services are performed, it is imperative that providers be reliable, responsive, qualified, and considerate. The young man who made the service call met all of those requirements. I will call Paul Ford the next time an appliance needs service.

He was responsive to our emails, and after providing him with some info on our dishwasher, he recommended just replacing the unit, and offered a model he thought we would be happy with. I appreciate his honesty, he could have charged us the $300 or so in repairs rather than turn down the work and provide some professional guidance.

Mr. Ford overcharged for service call. He was a no show for the 1st 2 appts. He looked at a fridge and said it was ok. Fridge moved to place of business and the fridge having same issue as original call. He only opened the unit and said seems fine. 1964 stove Mr. Ford told me it was the heating element and to replace my much loved vintage stove. Friend swapped element, lo & behold it was not the element. Problem with oven not heating due to wire in back of fridge. Mr. Ford was going to charge me $150 for igniter switch for my other oven and $100.00 to install. This would all happen on 2nd visit after 1st visit cost me $197.00. Again friend who is NOT an appliance repair person showed me how to order part - $22.00 and he took 15 minutes to fix oven. Not Happy with Mr. Ford.
Description of Work: Mr. Ford casually looked at 6 appliances and made no attempt to repair any. My 2 stoves repaired by a non appliance friend.

Response from Paul Ford Appliance Service
This was a service event I wish I had passed on from the outset. The point not made by the member was that the six appliances were at two different addresses. Three at a multi-family residence with appliances in the basement, on the outside back porch, and in a second floor apartment. Three others at a private, for-profit group home about a mile away, two in a commercial kitchen and one in a high use basement laundry. Time on the job was hardly casual, serious effort made in diagnosis and consultation with the member as to the advisability of continuing with repairs. The member was charged one service call even though it was actually two, and less time than spent onsite. I was told to schedule a follow-up repair visit and when I contacted the member, I was basically blown off. In the end I am sorry this business did not end to the member's satisfaction but in the interest of fairness and accuracy, believe I did as much as could be expected, under the circumstances.

I have had Paul Ford on two other occasions for broken appliances. He is friendly, trustworthy and definitely knows his trade. His recommendations in the past have helped me have a better understanding of the importance of preventive maintenance for my appliances. It is hard today to find someone who is really dedicated to customer service as Paul is.

He was polite and on time. He explained everything he did. He made sure I understood what the problem was and how he could fix it. He told me there were 3 possible scenarios that might be causing the problem. he eliminated each one until he came to the magnets. he had the parts in his truck and replaced them quickly. He cleaned up and asked if he could be of any further help. He was a joy to have in my house.

It was an unexpected pleasure in this impersonal day and age to find a professional willing to help a potential customer, even at the cost of forfeiting a profitable sevice call. I will call Paul for all my appliance repairs in the future and recommend him highly
Description of Work: I called Paul after reading very good reviews here on Angie's list. I was dissatisfied with the way my HE washer was performing; I had never been satisfied with the results, but it was getting to the point where my clothes were not getting clean no matter what I did. He spent 15 - 20 minutes discussing the problems of certain washers these days and told me there would be little he could do with this washer by coming out; that the problems were inherent to the design and manufacture of this brand and model. He gave me advice about what current brands would meet my needs the best and even who might carry them. .

When I first called Paul, I described what the symptom was - oven/broiler not working. He wanted to do some research and called me back with what he felt what the issue was. He advised on the approximate cost of the part and labor. I approved the part purchase and when it arrived, he arranged to install it. He was very prompt and called me on the day of install to advise when he expected to arrive. Which was nice since I didn't have to wait around all day wondering - where is he? I highly recommend him!

First experience using Angie's list was excellent! Paul Ford's Appliance Service provided professional, knowledgeable, friendly service. They did a great job repairing my older Maytag dryer., responding quickly and expertly to my phone call for service. They were able to provide the service almost immediately, fitting me in before a scheduled appointment in Woodbridge. Paul and fellow technician replaced a broken belt (the tumbler wasn't functioning), and replaced the venting hose, cleaned and tested all functions. Both technicians were very pleasant, polite, friendly and helpful. Their work was excellent, the dryer working just great, and the cost reasonably priced. I highly recommend Paul's Appliance service.

Response from Paul Ford Appliance Service
I am very dismayed by this review. I responded as requested, determined what was needed to complete the repair on the aged dishwasher, consulted the customer who decided not to proceed with the repair, given the cost and age of the product. This did happen over one year ago. I am very sorry that I am unable to run no charge service calls, but in this very competetive business, some overhead realities must be observed. To my recollection, the customer was apprised of the cost of the service call when it was booked.

Paul called me back within 15 minutes after I left my message on his answering machine. He listened to my description of the problem and diagnosed a failed magnetron tube (the component that actually heats the food). Although he could have easily set up an appointment to check the oven and fix it, Paul patiently explained that with an oven as old as ours (15 years), the cost of his repair would outweigh the cost/benefit of purchasing a new replacement oven. So, while we didn't actually contract with Paul to do any work, his free advice proved priceless. I'll definitely remember the experience in the future should we ever need Paul's services.

he came to the house and seemed to know exactly what was wrong with the appliance. He replaced the computer control board which cost $188. The malfunction in the computer controlled board was not allowing the refrigerator to go into defrost mode. He replaced the board and it seems there was an Ice dam that was blocking the air duct from the lower portion of the appliance to the vent in the upper refrigerator. It took one week for us to realize that the refrigerator had to be completely defrosted to melt that ice dam. Mr Ford came out a second time and made the recommendation of complete defrost. Once the refrigerator was defrosted, and the ice dam melted, it has been running fine since.

I found Paul on Angies. He was super accommodating even when I had to reschedule twice due to personal issues. His tech, Marty, was super friendly and informative. He was able to diagnose issue with microwave and recommended not fixing as it would cost more than running it until it dies and then replace. The fridge was more complex, but figured out the issue and will get back to me with the part price. While he was here, also gave me some pointers about my dishwasher as well and some helpful websites to check out. I will definitely use this company as my go to appliance repair guys.
