Response from Hahn Construction
In response to this review: I did in fact return Aileens call a few days after receiving some further in depth information regarding her flooring issue. She has a joist spacing (24 inches on center) and subfloor (3/4" particle board) situation throughout her home that needed to be addressed prior to the installation of hardwood flooring she intended on using to match existing thickness and color flooring already in the home. The option of a floating floor was not a consideration for her so there were questions that I needed to have answered to steer her in the direction she wanted to go. Upon making a few calls to my colleagues, an appointment was set up and we went back to the house to confirm the structure of the house as well as the subfloor present to discuss the options further. After this final meeting I called Aileen and discussed with her that her entire subfloor was not rated for a PROPER nail down installation and would need to be replaced. This would entail removing all doors throughout the first floor, tearing up all the particleboard down to the joists, installing new properly rated subfloor and finally installing the wood floor of her choice. Once I determined the best course of action, I decided that this amount of reconstruction was not something that was in the scope of work I am currently getting involved in. The cost and time needed was to involved for me to take on as a sole contractor. I did not request any payment towards the time I spent finding out information, making two trips to her home, or any time I spent at their home discussing the problems and solutions that they would face. I hope that Aileen and her family can work with someone who will give them the attention needed to take care of the issues they are facing to get them the floor they desire. They were both very nice people, but this situation is to involved for me at this time. I do personally feel that this review is a misrepresentation of the business I run and the time and effort I put towards a customers needs and wants. I would never give information to a customer without knowing all the facts, and occasionally that takes time. Sincerely, Henry Hahn
