Terrible. Roger came replaced part took money refrigerator don't work. 4 month of asking to come look at it. He actually never picked up a phone but I was able to communicate with him by text where he scheduled with me several appointments with no show. I'm done with his service never use him again. It's just friendly advice for customers find yourself more responsible service

Scheduled service on a refrigerator ice maker and Roger came out and said he fixed it (didn't get fixed) and payment was made, however, the ice maker still never made ice which was the issue before he came. He let us know he ordered a kit from the company which would arrive by mail and he would come back out. It has been several months of texting back and forth about the kit but he has stopped responding. We aren't going to stop so just get back to us Roger

Description of Work: They came out to service a refrigerator and let us know the pump was bad. Then offered to have us look at reconditioned ones at their store. So we went there and picked one out. They brought it to us a few days later, and took the old one away.A small amount of cash was credited from the service call toward the other one we picked out. A few weeks ago I noticed both of the doors were not lined up very well. The magnet strip on the refrigerator part was way crooked. Both of the doors were put on crooked. In my opinion, when they were there and brought down the refrigerator we picked out, they should have made sure everything was CORRECT. Not just bringing it in and leaving. We won't use this company again. |

I told the tech that I felt I was being gouged and wouldn't pay that much when I was expecting a bill of about $100-125. Tech gets mad, leaves my tenant's oven dismantled and exits. WOW. I spoke to the owner who agreed to waive all charges, but my tenant's oven remains dismantled and inoperative. My opinion is that I cannot recommend this company and will never use them again.
Description of Work: My tenant's oven on her gas stove won't light. Research will indicate that this is almost always a bad ignitor. I called New Britain Appliance and told them I needed an ignitor replaced and was lead to believe the service charge of $85 plus the part, which you can buy at retail for about $24. The tech arrives as promised, confirms the diagnosis, calls me and tell me the bill would be $225.

We here at New Britain Appliance hold high standards. [member name removed] called us to go out and look at a gas stove where the oven was not working. [member name removed] agreed to our service call fee of $85.00 plus parts and labor when the call was placed. Upon arrival at the house we found that the oven ignitor was bad. We called [member name removed] and let him know that the cost would be $85 for the service call $109 for the ignitor . [member name removed] then proceeds to tell us that the cost of the part is only $25 which is not the case and we only use Genuine GE oven ignitors . He told us he is only paying us $125 for the service call parts and labor. I'm sorry folks but there is a cost of doing business. I have been in the appliance repair business for over 20 years and see the cost of parts on the rise daily. If you order a part online you get NO warranty. We warranty all our parts for 1 year which is more than the 90 day we get from our parts distributor. So a long story short don't call me if you are gonna tell me what the cost is for my business because i don't want the aggravation or humiliation from the customer which is not fair.

Description of Work: My washing machine was not rinsing correctly, after several visits they realized the only problem was a soap buildup and recommended a vinegar rinse which fixed the problem. My dryer was also not drying, they determined the problem after several visits but it turned out GE had discontinued the part on a dryer only 9 years old so it is now junk. So they were helpful on both, just took more visits than I think more experienced folks would take.

They were very prompt and technically competent. They did not fix my problem, but they did tell me what was wrong. It turns out there was nothing wrong with the appliance, but possibly with the circuit. The technician indicated that there was no power reaching the appliance. I then had the circuits checked and everything was sound. The appliance still isn’t working, but I think his diagnosis is probably right. I still need to figure out the origin of the problem. On a side note, we never confirmed an appointment and two days after I placed the order, a technician showed up at my door for the service call and I was very surprised.

Description of Work: I had a built in microwave wherein the plate no longer revolved. On the first visit the service man determined that it required a new motor. One was ordered and on the second visit it was installed. It is now working as it should. I was concerned when a different gentleman came for the installation but that turned out to present no difficulties. Both repairmen were pleasant, knowledgeable and confident. It was not a big deal and not expensive by today's standards. (I'm in my seventies and everything seems expensive.) I wish I had not endured many months of aggravation hesitating to call for repair.

Keith, the technician, seemed unaware of the $74.00 large appliance repair deal. He charged me an additional $84.53 for the service. I explained the $74.00 deal to him but he insisted I owed more. Not wanting to argue with a stranger sitting in my kitchen I wrote him a check. After he left I called Roger at New Britain Appliance. Roger was my initial contact to set up the appointment and I believe he is the manager. I told him my story and he told me he would get back to me. It took a while but he finally called back. He stated the technician told him that he had installed a new heater in my fridge and that was why he charged me. I explained to Roger AGAIN that the tech had installed a 6" copper wire to my existing heater NOT a new heater. Now he tells me he will speak to Keith again at the end of the day and get back to me. Well, he didn't. I called him again the following Monday and he told me he would be returning my check. He was less than charming and did not apologize but did ask me to write a review on Angie's List. Here it is and I am still waiting for my check after 3 weeks.
Description of Work: Water from my freezer was leaking into the refrigerator. The tech melted the ice with my blow dryer and attached a wire that went down into the drain hole for defrost to keep it from freezing again.

Dear [Member Name], Sorry that we have a misunderstanding regarding the coupon that was purchased by you. Our service call fee to a house is $85 and when we defrost the drain on the freezer we make sure it is clear then install either a copper wire or a heater with wires depending on the fridge. We installed the copper because it will not break or malfunction which is a benefit to you. The coupon only cover's a trip charge which starts the clock when we start our drive to your house no matter where we are located and labor,not parts wither it is a copper wire or heater you still have to pay for it. We normally charge up to $90 to clear out a drain like most company's do. I will say that this coupon was not written correctly and we stopped running the coupon which was a loss for our company. I have been doing appliance repair's for over 20 years and strive for great service and therefore i WILL NOT let 1 bad review dictate how our business is. Your check has been sent back to you. Came on a Monday and was able to get one of the parts needed by the next day and the machine was then operable. The door also needed a hinge and, when that arrived, he came back to install it with no extra service charge. I was pleased that I was able to have the machine operating within two days of the problem.

Came to the house before scheduled time which was no big deal (actually appreciated). Actually, I called him to provide updates about the refrigerator but wanted him to still look at it and he mentioned he would be there within the hour. Determined that the thermostat was at fault. Ordered the part and mentioned it would cost less if we had him order from out of state, but wanted the part that day, so he purchased the part in Hartford which was $20.00 more but was worth it because we needed our refrigerator working properly again. So, he came back with the part within a few hours and fixed the refrigerator the same day. Just gave us advice to allow the thermostat to be regulated within 24 to 48 hours before filling up the refrigerator with food. Told us to call him if we had any issues. The following evening, I noticed that the refrigerator was not running after we put food in and the temp. got to be 44 degrees, so I called. He indicated that the refrigerator was on the defrost cycle and within a few minutes, the refrigerator went back on and has been working fine.
Description of Work: Repaired refrigerator that is 6.5 years young by replacing the thermostat.
