My husband and I have had the WORST experience here. If you have any desire to order from here, don't. On January 17th we purchased a custom made bathroom vanity, with the assistance of Jody. Jody informed us it would be ready within 7 days. We were not expecting such a fast turn around and ended up paying our contractor extra to complete the bathroom. A week passed and we did not think much of it. A week later my husband received a text message that stated pick up your vanity "TILL " February 23 and we were provided with two time blocks. My husband rented a pick-up truck and drove to the Hartford location. Once he arrived, he was informed that the item was in fact NOT ready and would NOT be ready until AFTER February 23. Annoyed my husband made multiple calls to Express Kitchens to find out why it went from 7 days to over a month to get our item. No explanation could be given to him other than "we don't know what happened." They offered free delivery on the item for the inconvenience. We were informed we would receive a call on February 18th to confirm a delivery date. We received a call, which was automated where we were given a date for delivery- we were not even given an option. We ended up having to reschedule due to work schedules. On February 20th my husband went back to Express Kitchens and spoke to Jody. Jody informed him that there was an error in the system and that our vanity was not actually in stock. I then went to Express Kitchens and spoke with Jody. I told her how this has been a horrible experience and I wanted to speake to the Manager. Jody put me in touch with Kim, who greatly lacked any customer service skill and was rude and offered no other remedy. I was told there was nothing else that could be done and essentially I should be thankful for the free delivery. We received our order FINALLY on February 28th. Everything arrived in boxes. Our contractor came over today to assemble the vanity and big surprise Jody put in the wrong measurement for the countertop. So we have an 18 inch depth vanity with a 22inch depth counter top. My husband called Express Kitchens, spoke to Jody and her response was "oh my, I will call you back to see what I can do." She returned his call five hours later. Guess what, if we want the correct depth we have to pay an extra $400 for them to customize it. This place is run by incompetent and inept staff who lack customer care (Jody). I will never do business at this place and I discourage anyone for going there. It has been a pure nightmare.

ordered doorless kitchen cabinets and granite counters cabinets arrived with doors granite installers charged $800 more because salesman measured incorrectly. Kitchen Express made me split coast of pick up of doored cabinets and delivery of doorless cabinets, even tho it was their mistake Used my own installer One cabinet is getting big white spots showing through the finish, there is a big goudge in the stripping on the other side and the bottom appears to be sinking down. Sent pictures to Express Kitchen at request of Dan in customer service Here is what they offer: 3 pieces of wood, at no charge, delivered to my house or a credit of $75 applied to my bill. They will not replace the cabinet; they did not install it. The cabinets are guaranteed for a year, but only if installed by Express Kitchens. This fact was never explained to me by my salesman. Be very careful doing business with this outfit.

ordered Stockholm White - and received cupboards in 3 different shades of white. Several phone calls, emails and 4 additional visits by the installer and I still have 3 different shades of white. The company has refused to compensate me saying that color variations are an "industry standard". I have talked to an independent contractor who advised the only color variations that are industry standard in a kitchen are for natural stone (granite, marble) counter tops. Painted cabinets should all come from the same color lot and match seamlessly. There seems to be no "chain of command" for elevating my complaint to the next level. I am working with the Better Business Bureau and the State Department of Consumer Protection. I would not want anyone to go through the hassles I have had with this company. The main reason I chose them over their closest competition as they offered a 1 year warranty on work and materials. So far they are not willing to accept responsibility. My only option at this point is to have the cabinets painted to match - which I will have to pay for.
Description of Work: All new kitchen cabinets. We removed the old cupboards and they installed new. We had a quote from another Hartford company that was competitive, but they did not offer installation services so we chose to go with Express Kitchens. The designer that assisted us misrepresented himself as the owner - which gave us an overwhelming sense of security that we were dealing with the top of their staff. As it turns out - he is just a designer. We signed a contract in July and scheduled an installation for August 10. No one ever called to confirm the install - and they did not show up until almost 11 am. The install seemed to go very smoothly. I was home during the install, but worked outside in my garden while they installers were working. The first problem I noticed after they left was that an open shelf they installed had 2 chips and an irregular finish. Then I noticed that the base cabinets did not match in color. One drawer appeared to be warped, and a hinge fell off a cabinet the first time I opened it. I called and reported these issues to Russ Messenger (who I still thought was the owner). He assured me it would all be taken care of. One wall cabinet was backordered, and the installers were scheduled to return on September 5. The installer returned as scheduled with the backordered cabinet, but was completely unaware of any other problems. I called the project manager and the installer took cell phone photos. The installer changed the broken hinge. The next morning, the hinge fell off again, this time damaging the cabinet. The installer returned approximately 3 weeks later and changed out the drawer and door fronts only, as they could not remove the cabinets. Only half of the cabinets I requested were "corrected" I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I received a call from Charles Madia who assured me everything would be taken care of. I requested they send a different installer as the one I had been working with did not appear to have any interest in correcting problems. On October 26th the project manager came to my home. He arrived with drawer and door fronts and assured me work would be completed that day. He touched up the paint where it was damaged from the broken hinge. He said he would call me later that day. I requested all future communications be via email as there was too much lost during a phone conversation. He sent me a cell phone photo of one of the base cabinets later that day. It's my kitchen, not sure why he sent me a photo. Hurricane Sandy hit that weekend, so I did not speak to or email anyone again until after our power was restored on November 3. I emailed Charles Madia to advise that the color variations still exist and I requested compensation in the form of a discount. He emailed back that the color differences were acceptable to him and the manufacturer, so nothing more would be done.
