The Heavenly Asphalt (HA) contractor, LeGrand Cooper, 1) oversold their services and ability to revive the surface of our driveway, 2) failed to finish the job, and 3) walked away from a warranty issue. Their agent assured us that the work would make it look "just like new." It doesn't, and can't. He oversold the companies expected outcomes, and our expectations were too high. The contract was for patching, repair, edging, crack filling and sealing. At contract signing, I offered to remove grass growing over the edges of the driveway and to clear moss that was growing in spots on the driveway. The HA representative, stated that his crew would perform these tasks prior to patching and sealing the driveway. The HA agent said that we could expect him on the contract date between the hours of 8:30AM and 9:00AM. HA showed up a short time after noon on the date of the contract. We received no phone call regarding a delay. When HA's crew showed up, they began work immediately. However, the crew either did not have the time, or were not directed to not edge away the grass or remove the moss. As a result, HA applied sealer over the grass and the moss. Additionally, HA's contract states they were to "fill all cracks in driveway." HA filled in some. Cracks ranging in width from 1 inch to .25 inch remain untreated. Most is in the worst part of the drive; the section that was the reason I called them to begin with. I believe it's worse than before the repair. Rain caused HA to cease work before 5:00PM, or before the work was inspected. When HA left, I found tools and refuse on the lawn. Also, the rain washed away some of the sealing material and the newly applied crack filler before it had a chance to "set.". The result is exposed cracks and tan-colored patches in the driveway. I contacted HA twice to set up a time to fix these issues. I did not get a "live" person. HA committed via voicemail to return at specific times and dates. No one showed up or called to reschedule. Someone was at home waiting all day both times. I feel this disrespected my time. The moss (over which HA applied the sealer) died shortly after it was covered. HA should have known this would happen. The moss appears to have held the original pavement together. When it died, the driveway started shedding the dead matter along with additional and new chunks of the damaged driveway. This is particularly bad whenever it rains. The rain increases the number of fissures and cracks in the driveway. Again, I called HA again to finish their work. I also stated that a Warranty issue now exists due to the shedding of the sealing material and the cracks increasing in size and dimension. No response from HA. I have pics and vids of the drive. They show a clear disintegration of the area where HA sealed over the moss and a lack of sealer in areas where the grass used to be. I'm older and have physical limitations. However, I am compelled to finish the job myself. I WILL fill in the cracks and apply sealer. I will clean up when I am finished. I will put away all my tools. If a problems exists, I will fix it. I will make sure the job is done right. Finally, on the day the work was being performed, my partner and I expressed concern regarding the "sell" and the actual the outcomes. We were upset that the driveway would not look "just like new," as was stated during the sale. However, we appreciated the value of what was being done. While somewhat defensive, the HA agent offered another year of warranty to help meet her expectations. We both agree that if HA allowed themselves the time to do the job right and backed up their warrantee, the value would have been attained. We reported Heavenly Asphalt to the Better Business Bureau. The were given two weeks to get back to us. No response.
