Top Notch Chimney Cleaning

It went extremely well. Top Notch called me the same day as I purchased the cleaning contract to schedule the work. Their proactive customer communication continued with confirmation calls to affirm the scheduled date. Two gentlemen showed up on time and Mark communicated the process and the estimated length of time it would take. Upon cleaning completion, he recommended the additional work, showed me why it was needed and explained the process and estimated time. He said to call if I wanted the work done but I had them do it that day. They were punctual, extremely professional, cleaned up after themselves and Mark was an excellent communicator. I gave them a B on price simply because I had not done any comparison shopping on the ceramic cement but I am sure they are in the ballpark. The ceramic treatment and stainless steel lock top damper came with a lifetime warrantee.

They did very good work, were quick and courteous. Aside from coming a bit later than originally set up there were no issues. Will hire again.

It was all done in a timely, professional way. Dennis and Ray were great, cleaned up after , not a spot on the rug. Even explained to me what was being done, which i admire, because i like to know what's going on

Top Notch came out and assessed my chimney. The squirrel had broken the chimney liner so it needed to be replaced. Top Notch also replaced the bricks that had fallen off the top of the chimney and installed a chimney cap. They installed my stove and provided the extra stove pipe that was required since the stove had been moved from upstairs to downstairs. The services were down professionally and quickly. I was extremely pleased.

Went about as expected. Did expect 2 men to perform the installation. On the scheduled day, only the owners nephew was onsite to do the work. Would have been easier & quicker if there were 2 men I believe.

It went fine. It took a while; it was not easy to do because the flu does not go straight up, but they got it in. We also had them replace the chimney cap. They were able to do so as part of a full-package.

They inspected the chimney and realized right away that the old terra cotta liner had completely collapsed. It all needed to be cleared and a new liner put in. They were very friendly, and came back late the same night, which was a saturday, to complete the service. I appreciated that, because they could have easily said they couldn't do the liner that evening and ask to reschedule. It was done in a couple of hours and the guys were super nice.

It was a rough start a top-notch. Miscommunications confusion with a quote. Then after being frustrated Rob came to me and worked out a deal. He gave us a price and then we negotiated a specific price and then sent out a mason to finish the work. The Mason did an excellent job and I pay the agreed price. Communication and pricing issues were a bit of a problem but in the end he was an honorable man who did the job he said he would for the price we agreed on do so I gave them an A

I was pressured to sign up for additional services/charges that runs $1600+ because "this is an emergency", the work must be done "today", and "no permit is necessary". I checked on Home Depot afterwards that the complete material set would only cost about $400. Another chimney specialist explained to me that there is no such emergency that needed to be done today. In addition, CT requires a permit for chimney liner by a contractor. The amount of pressure and scare tactics I was subjected to today is highly unethical and unprofessional .

They did a great job, put down a drop cloth and vacuumed everything extremely well. Also let me know about additional services that the chimney needed and gave a great estimate for those services which I will definitely have them do at a later date. Contact to make the appointment were prompt and also a phone call confirmation the day before, and a call the day of to give me an exact time. The receptionist could not have been nicer and I will be calling them for any and all future chimney services.

Just planned on getting an estimate but the price was $250 below my other bid and it appeared that the materials to be used were superior. The price also included a cap - which the other bid did not include. They did the installation on the spot in 1.5 hours.

The whole project was completed in one day and looks great. The only negative was excess cement was dropped on the lawn.

Initially, I had an appointment in the winter which kept getting put off due to snowy weather. On the day of the scheduled appointment, they called to confirm the appointment, but never showed up. I was upset at first, but then called back a few months later explaining what had happened and they were extremely apologetic. The service people were on their way to the house and got hit by a snow plow and were taken to the hospital. That's why they didn't make it to my house. However, they were so apologetic for not calling to cancel and they really took care of me to make up for it. They really value their customer service and their work was excellent as well. I've had other people who clean the chimney by just putting the vacuum up from the bottom and not go out on the roof. These guys really did it properly by cleaning from above and below. They fixed a few cracks that they noticed when they were up there, too. They were wonderful and I would use them again and highly recommend them to anyone.

Kevin & Frank were at my home & performed all work professionally. Problems with chimney were pointed out to me but no pressure was applied to get work done immediately which was not necessary. Work that was done was explained to me & performed exactly as explained. Good experience. Would highly recommend.
