+ -1 moreBob Wells of Siracusa (Allied) was professional in his evaluation and quite complete in his explanations. We chose to use another van line (Nationwide) company because the Siracusa price was 5% higher, using a per pound measure. Siracusa offers free boxes (with a security deposit that is applied to the total move costs). The extra insurance appears to be the same from any van line (driven by regulations). Siracusa is a very large Allied company, with many corporate contracts for moves. That appears to be their strategic focus. We asked them for an estimate because they have a good reputation in Connecticut. Had their price been more competitive, we would not have hesitated to use them.
Description of Work: provided an estimate for moving our household 1,200 miles away.

+ -1 moreSo far everything has been really good. As I've been unpacking, I have seen that some items were damaged. I have processed the claims for the damages and they have been following through with that just fine. In general everything has been satisfactory. The final price was underneath the estimated cost which was a pleasant surprise.
Description of Work: Siracusa did the packing and moving for us from Connecticut to upstate New York.

+ -1 moreWhen it came time for me to finally get my furniture from them. They called and they wanted to charge me almost 50% more to get my furniture back. They had it in storage at that time. They tried to charge it to my credit card without my permission. Fortunately the credit card company didn?t allow it. I was very upset and had the guy who did the estimate call me. I had to wait over the weekend until Monday. At the end, when I talked to this guy, I told him I wanted to talk to the owner of the company. He called me back an hour later and quoted me a price that was about $400 over what I was originally quoted. They said if the weight was lower after the fact I would get money back. After four weeks, I called them because they didn?t call me. The girl in the office said I might have a little bit coming back. They did send me a check for over $200 dollars. The guys that packed up and delivered my stuff were fabulous. The people I had to deal with in the office were not.
Description of Work: They moved me from Connecticut to Florida and stored my furniture for $175 a month.

+ -1 moreThe men working for Siracusa were friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. The estimate was more than the actual cost of the move! I would certainly use them again. Their phone staff were also helpful, professional and friendly.
Description of Work: I was moving from one house to another but I was also placing several items in storage so there were two destinations to the move.

+ -1 moreExcellent service. Arrived on time (a few minutes early in-fact). All items were handled with care are arrived safely. They put all of our stuff where we wanted them to in our new house. Price was about the same as a couple other quotes we had, but the insurance was much cheaper.

Description of Work: Based on their glowing reviews on Angie's List, I called Siracusa last week and set up a move date for next Monday (9/10). They scheduled a representative to come out to our place today to do a survey and provide a quote. I called yesterday around noon to confirm that the rep would be here between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and Kathy confirmed. I took time out of a very busy schedule to come back here and meet the rep. After almost an hour of "no show" i called Kathy to find out when he would be arriving. To my astonishment, she remembered our conversation yesterday and that she confirmed the appointment, but stated that "somehow, your appoinment must have been erased from the calendar!". No effort to get someone out here right away or later this afternoon, just a simple (and very unbelievable) "sorry'! So now I have to try to find a mover who can come in here with only four days notice to do what Siracusa had already committed to doing a week ago. Angry and frustrated doesn't quite explain the way I am feeling about these incompetent and unprofessional people.

All items were packed/unpackedcarefully. We would definitely use this company again.....highly recommended.

However, the head of the move-in team did a very rush job asking where we'd like boxes and items placed in the new apartment (and yes, everything was labeled) and then he disappeared - maybe to unload the truck? The workers actually doing the move-in labor didn't know where to put any of the furniture or boxes, and they moved in the smaller items first. This made unpacking and setting up our new place more time-consuming and disorganized than it should have been.
Description of Work: We hired Sircacusa for a short, interstate move - from one 2-bedroom apartment to another.

I haven't completed the entire process and the back end process is really most important. When they came to provide the quote, they were timely. They met the time requirement they said they were going to. I would use the company for another quote if I was looking to move.

Description of Work: We used Siracusa to move our entire house back in August of 2009 and then store our belongings until New Years Eve when we moved into our new house. The price was extremely competitive and the service was outstanding. We had two different moving teams - one for the move out and then one for the move in. All of their employees were extremely professional and took extremely good care of our items. There was nothing broken and the customer service team was there to follow up. The fees were exactly as they quoted and there were no surprises.

+ -1 moreI prearranged movers to unload my Uhaul trailer from another company. Unfortunately they were no-shows, so I came here to Angie's List and found Siracusa. They were able to quickly send someone over - and they did the job in quick order, and were very professional. It was the end of the day, so the dispatcher didn't have to help me out - but he did! Chris (the mover) was super courteous and very professional! The job was finished in under an hour. Siracusa was the highlight in the day!
Description of Work: Small job - moving things from my UHaul trailer and car up to my third floor apt (elevator available).

+ -1 moreTHEY DID DELIVER EVERYTHING BUT IT TOOK THEM A LONG TIME. I THINK THEY OVERCHARGED US WITH THE THINGS THEY SAID THEY STORED. THEY CLAIM TO OF PACKED MORE CONTAINERS THEN THEY ACTUALLY DID SO THAT IS HOW THEY OVERCHARGED US.
