Description of Work: Bill is a real gentleman and professional. His communication was excellent as was his work. He coordinated well with a difficult contractor that I had hired and whose electrician was double the price I paid Bill. This electrician was all the things that contractors generally lack, responsibility,reliability and honesty. I would use him again in a heartbeat and would sincerely recommend him to a friend or neighbor. There are many ways that he could have charged me extra since I foolishly shared with him that another electrician had quoted me half his quote, but he honestly chose not to take advantage of my mistake. This is a hint to never tell one contractor what another quoted you for the same job unless the quote was less.

Description of Work: Showed up, looked around and then never gave me a quote after a few correspondence. He said he hurt his back, could not do the job now for a few weeks, but would at least get me a quote. It never came.

He also recommended another handyman for an additional (non-electrical) service which we needed and then followed up to make sure all went as planned. Overall, Bill is a nice guy who did a very professional job. We'll use him again in future, if needed.

+ -1 moreFor years we had needed electrical work done around the house, i.e. outlets repared, an exhaust fan in the bathroom, external outlets installed, and a floodlight on the back of the house but had no idea who to call. We found Bill on Angie's list and gave him a call due to the favorable reviews about him. Bill was exactly as advertised. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, great communication and the price was very reasonable. We would not hesitate to use Bill again and recommend him without reservation. Bill was so good that we even overlooked that he is a Red Sox fan.

+ -1 moreKind of ironically, I teach high school over in Glastonbury and when he found out that I taught there he asked me if I knew somebody named Truda Tallmadge. I said yes, she is in our department. He said, well that's where I'm going next. I've been working for them for 10 years. So I checked with Truda and she said he is so good and so honest to a fault. I would highly recommend him. He looks at things from the standpoint not from how much money can I make off of this but how can I do the best job for the homeowner and what is the most effective way to do this without running up a big bill. I will continue to use this electrician.
Description of Work: I used Bill Kachnowski of Kachnowski Electric to do the electrical inspection and some electrical work on a condo we just bought here in Farmington.

+ -1 moreThe subpanel was small so this was a very small job and I called around for quotes. His was the lowest among the ones I called so I decided to use him. One other person I called said the minimum for the job would be around $200 - 250 which seemed unreasonable to me. I was very pleased with his service. He showed up on time and was very professional and finished the job quickly and labeled all the wires. He also made sure to keep his work area clean. If I need other electrical work done, I would definitely call him again for an estimate.
Description of Work: I was selling my condo and during the home inspection, they found out that the subpanel to my finished basement had an issue: the ground and neutral wires were not separated. I had the basement finished and had all the permits pulled. The CO was issued so the home inspector either wasn't paying attention or made a mistake.

Description of Work: Bill installed an electric wall heater unit in my den. He also organized and updated the many wires and outlets, that were such a mess, in my basement. I also had him put in new light fixtures in my bathrooms and hallways. Bill did an outstanding job with all of these projects. He is professional, punctual (in returning phone calls AND arriving on time). He is very neat and organized, and always cleaned up from any work he did. He inspires confidence/he knows what he's doing. His prices were extremely reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others; he is the only electrician I would use.
