Miri's Masonry Service

Completed in May 2008 for $7,500, the driveway turned out beautifully with the exception of a short section which didn't seem to be compacted properly. We did not complain, expecting it to even out with use. However, over time as we drove through that section, it felt like the car tires dug in too much, leading to ruts and inability to use a snow thrower without chucking gravel everywhere. We called Miri before the second winter with the driveway and requested compacting of the driveway. After much difficulty contacting him, he gave us a quote of $250 for 3 hours of work, supposedly after driving by to look at the situation. When we finally were able to get a date scheduled, he showed up and said that he would need heavier equipment than originally thought, and it would cost $1000 for 8 hours of work instead of $250. We negotiated down to $600 and rescheduled a date. When his subcontractor and he arrived to do the job, it actually only took 2 hours, yet he still charged us $600 after much debate. The driveway came out okay though is still somewhat softer in that one section and we'll probably need to recompact every year or two.
