The second time we had Shiman's crew at our rental property, the crews were young fellows, not Shiman himself; they were prompt,  worked very fast, but were a bit sloppy, for in one bedroom, coverage was not complete.  They did do an extra small room for me when i asked, so were accommodating.  I got the impression that the lower price provided lower quality.

We've hired him twice.  This first time in our home, the work was satisfactory; we had had smoke damage and the insurance paid for the job.  They were recommended by a neighbor, who was very pleased with their work. They did a fine on the walls; however, the fellow who did the kitchen ceiling was concentrating more on the fact that it was his thirtieth birthday celebration that night, and he got a little sloppy.  There were tiny paint speckles on stairs, counters, floors, etc. because he did not adequately cover surfaces. I cleaned it up myself, but told Shiman about it, who apologized and urged me next time to let him know so they could rectify it.

THey did a fantastic job on the back deck;  two years later, it is peeling again in some areas, but honestly this could also be due to the age of the deck (20 years) and the harsh snowy wet winter and springs since it was painted.

He manages several crews and none of them care or know much about painting. He himself does, but he is not on the job. Everything they did, they did half way. They used the wrong kind of paint. They used the wrong color. They were very young college guys I would assume. They were yuppie guys who really didn't give a **** about what they were doing, they just wanted the paycheck. They didn't care. They did things like do a window seal, they would do the top and the sides but not the ends or underneath. His original estimate was $4000 and I ended up with this other great painter who did it for $800. I never paid Shiman and he may take me to court over it, but I don't think he has a leg to stand on.
