This was an outstanding experience, start to finish. The price was very reasonable, particularly considering the scope of the job. Everyone I worked with at Barnes was friendly, professional and helpful. The movers were courteous, personable, thoughtful and friendly, from day one to the end of day two. We discovered that there was no AC in the new building and we were several floors up. None of the movers ever complained or was ever anything but wonderful. They were patient and careful with moving items. They were very well organized and the team communicated extremely well. Everything went exactly the way we were told it would go from the beginning to the end. There were no surprises, nothing was damaged or misplaced and everyone maintained their sense of humor even though it was over 90 degrees in the building. This was an exceptional experience with exceptional people.

4This was one of the most professional moves I have ever had. They were right on time, Polite and very helpful. The day we moved from one house was bitterly cold. They kept right on going. The day we moved into the new house was muddy and raining non stop. They never slowed down again. Hopefully I won't be moving any time soon, but I most definitely would use them again and recommend them to everyone.

It went very good I got all of my stuff and in good condition.

The crew, Chris, Alan and Mike arrived right on time. They had the truck loaded quickly and were soon at our new house. We were worried about the new rugs and fresh paint, but they were very careful and completed the job with no damage to home or property. I noticed that when they carried furniture through narrow spaces, they held it with their hands on the outside, protecting the walls from any harm. They also went to great lengths to make sure every item was placed in the correct room. They were able to deal with issues like low hanging wires and oppressive heat in a courteous and professional manner. Moving day is a very stressful event, but if I had to do it again I would feel much better knowing these guys were on the job.

Excellent ! We interviewed (3) moving companies and selected Barnes. Dean DePietro, President of Barnes Moving and Storage conducted the walk thru and provided a Firm Fixed cost. He explained in detail what was included and identified options (without any pressure). He also offered once used boxes at no cost to us for the goods we wanted to pack and provided excellent packing suggestions. His staff from the Warehouseman, office manager and packing/loader were all very professional and a pleasure to deal with. We agreed upon a date for the pickup of our house hold and a couple of days prior to the scheduled pickup date the moving van driver called to do a preliminary walk thru - which was very beneficial. The driver provided a number of packing suggestions that really helped us be ready for the pickup. The moving van arrived about an hour early and began loading and packing the items we had identified. It took (2) days for the loading of the moving van, in part to the snow storm we had the previous week (about 2 feet of snow). The driver gave us his cell and said to call if we had any questions. BTW the (2) packers from Barnes did an outstanding and quick job of packing all of our dishes, glassware, flat screen TVs, computer equipment and mirrors. We rec'd a call from the Driver (4) days before our scheduled delivery and offered to delivery the next day if was convenient? Which we readily accepted. The moving team arrived at our new home as scheduled and unloaded household goods and assembled the beds in about 6 hours. Not one item was damaged and all charges were exactly as Dean had promised. We Highly Recommend Barnes moving and storage!

They came at 8:30 am and we're done with loading the truck at 12:30 pm.

They were able to move me on the date I requested. The packers and movers showed up on time, were professional and friendly, and took excellent care of our belonings. They took great care not to damage the house as they worked. The driver kept in contact with us and showed up at the right time. Nothing lost or damaged.

Everything about our experience was positive. Dean came right on time to do the estimate and that set the tone for things as far as punctuality for the rest of the experience. His quote was competitive. The moving men were courteous and respectful at all times. They were skilled at their trade in the way they moved the heaviest of items while gracefully avoiding collisions with all obstacles such as door jambs, railings, etc. The job was done exactly on time, exactly as promised, and exactly for the amount quoted. I could not have asked for a better experience, especially given all the horror stories out there.

Overall my experience with Barnes Moving and Storage was TERRIBLE. I would NEVER use them again. Part Two of my sage with them was when the delivery of my furniture was scheduled to be moved from their facility to my Westerly condo after being stored there for two weeks (because they were *too busy to move me all on the same day). I couldn't take the day off from work and had my elderly parents come from their house in Groton to my condo to wait for the movers to arrive. Because of the fiasco re the way they performed when they moved my things from my Mystic house, I was ASSURED by Dean that the movers would be in Westerly first thing in the morning with my furniture. My parents waited. And waited. And waited. I think they finally showed up around 1 o'clock. No explanation, no apologies were offered. I had a couple of wooden table that were cracked, a broken mirror, and a missing jute pad for one of my rugs. When I called to complain, there was no offer of compensation or explanation. No mention of a damage claim form I could fill out. Nothing. It was an unbelievably shoddy way of doing business. Ironically, I went with Barnes Moving and storage because 11 years prior to that I used them in a move I made from Woolwich, ME to Mystic and they were excellent. I had been given their name by my parents who had used them about three years prior to that when they moved from one end of CT to the other. They had an excellent experience as well. I know it had been a family business and the Barnes name remained with the business when Dean bought it prior to my move to Westerly. I think the Barnes's would be very upset to know name was associated with such a poorly run business. Maybe they have improved their business practices since 2000, but given the experience I had with them and how they responded to it (or more likely how they did NOT respond), I would steer clear of them.

Everything was perfect

They do very, very well. They go all over the country. They were very nice and polite. They took care of our things.

Based on a Fixed Price estimate for moving from Norwich, CT to Lebanon, CT I selected Barnes Moving. The movers were on time and did an excellent job of packing everything I hadn't gotten to. Upon arriving at my new home, I was informed that the load wiight was higher than estimated and it would be an extra $400. I asked the movers to contact Dean, who gave me the estimatee. He told the movers that it was OK, and to go ahead and unload. I paid the price agreed upon. People who keep their word are the people I like to do business with.
